Fun > Thrill. Powerful bikes are a thrill the first few times you open them up but once you're acclimated to the power it kinda feels limited because you can only really use it in very limited settings and even then you know your license is at risk. A bike like the mt07 though you can enjoy in all sorts of settings. It's just fun.

Depending on who you ask, some consider my 890R a middleweight. It weighs the same as these 650-700’s, but has tons more torque, with a decent bit more hp. I think the mt07 is a great beginner bike for a mature rider.

Trident is better in every regard BUT the raw feeling and bike connection of the mt07
I personally love the raw energy that the 07 has but when u compare those Two bikes, the answer becomes obvious.
I know that Yamaha just wanna milk out as much money as they can with all these free laying parts in their factories that were on mt07 since 2014 but Holy shit are they cheapening out too much.
Trident has better brakes, better suspension, better finish, better build quality, much better electronics, traction control, tail tidy and rain mode.
All this for $500-700 more than the mt07 and its much more expensive for triumph to manufacture a bike given theyre nowhere the size of yamaha Company and influence wise yet they managed to create a much better, NEW machine for only a couple hundreds dollars more than the mt07.
Its really a Declaration of dominance from their side at this point.
It rly buggers me why yamaha didn't upgrade what everyone wanted em to upgrade.
Literally the only thing that they needed to do given the bike raw nature is to fit it a decent suspension and better brake calipers, additionally maybe a better throttle tube and that's literally it.
But no, they used the same suspension that has been mourned over by the community for yrs, slapped some LEDs and called it a day... Then upped the price by $400. Like wtf
I loved mt07 since 2014 so its not a rant, rather a report of the current situation it's in.

@@shuttzi9878 I dunno about that. Arent they made in india? mt07 is made in japan. More expensive.

    • @shuttzi9878
      @shuttzi9878 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@DF3946 does it really matter anymore tho? Mt07 had a swingarm rust problem for yrs not to mention the handlebar and it was made in Japan.
Cool, a Motorcycle made in Japan, what about it? Most of the work is done by the Machines nowadays and factories are being upgraded all over the world. BMW has a factory in India as well. KTM as well, since then their reliability improved by a mile thanks to partnering with Bajaj. Kawasaki is also establishing a New factory in India where they will be making High displacement Models.
All depends on what technology will they bring there to make quality of their bikes better.
      In triumphs case:
Parts manufacturing is done in Hinckley and Thailand while assembly is done in Brazil and India but that is true for nearly every model in their lineup.
What matters is the quality of parts. Just go and look at both these motorcycles irl and u will notice a big difference when it comes to finish and quality.
The Trident is doing what yamaha did in 2014, bringing something that is better and newer than what every competitor has to offer but since triumph is a premium brand, they won't cheap out on parts like Yamaha does.
While yes, yamaha Engine will run for years on end without any problems, the trident engine is also made to last so don't get the argument of "made in japan" get to u cuz everything that we can see and know right now is better on Triumph quality wise.
Quite a Long reply, i know but its important to inform other ppl who are reading this how the situation looks like : )

Good review, thanks. Waiting for the dealer to get one so I can test it. Global supply problems!! However I have ridden the GSX S750 and was super impressed. Despite the weight it was very smooth and easy to throw around about town with plenty of go. However keep the taps open and it climbs to 112 Hp and 80 Nm or torque, screaming like an F1. But nice and smooth and appropriate for the city of you upshift. Way better brakes and suspension is rebound adjustable both ends and I think is better sorted. The GSX is reportedly more stable pushing through corners. Finally I like the idea of traction control for wet roads and poor surfaces. Looks, well neither is really outstanding. At only USD700 more where I live I suspect the GST S750 is a better bike for money. Probably all the handling and power you really need, so maybe gets the title ;-0

On my 2015 FZ-07 (same bike, different name), when I get into higher revs, there is enough vibration to cause a tingle in my seat and foot pegs.
