- I explored this house in 2011 (when it was freshly abandoned, and see it still is. I see it is much more vandalized now than it was back then. As of February, 2019, this house still stands abandoned, and now boarded up in further disrepair.
This is another house apparently bought by developers. They have rezoned the entire block for a mix of commercial and residential construction. Seems to have been abandoned since 2009/2010 according to latest phone book left behind.

I find it amazing that people can just disappear and leave behind so many personal items. Do people ever salvage items from these houses? That woodwork around the door was so beautiful. What a shame to just tear it down.
It just makes me so mad when they tear down these beautiful old buildings to put up some cheap modern crap that will be closed and abandoned in 3 or 4 years!!
It's just a shame, to tair down this house just to put in a center, an apts. All the pritty house's will be gone. Oh well the Lord is coming Very soon, Don't really matter. Please get ready.
March 2018 and the house is still here!! I’ve been in it a few times and it’s more vandalized each time I go. They have boarded up the windows and doors but the boards on the top door that the stairs lead to have been pulled off. The floors in the barn are almost completely caved in. I was just there yesterday actually and you can’t even get to the main floor anymore. Thanks so much for this video! I love it
If I owned this home, I would of fought tooth and nail to stay, and refused the buy out. It is too beautiful of a home, and way spacious, with a good yard. That is very rare to come by now a days. With all these cookie cutter homes.

I just don't get it. The house was probably sold to the city to be demolished. Why didn't they salvage all that beautiful woodwork? I would have asked if I could salvage anything in the house, as part of the sale agreement.
Someone like me (with a similar house) would (almost) kill for those 5 panel doors.
That's exactly what should be done. Let someone remove the beautiful old wood and re-use it! There are people who restore old homes that would love to have this stuff. Great video, not just this one, but all of them. Thanks for sharing.
That house is still in good condition. The outside almost looks like 1870's design but the woodwork inside is 1920 - 1930's with the beveled door frame tops.
The stairs in behind the fridge would have been servants stairs.
when we were kids we loved exploring places like this , houses , commerical buildings etc , we used to scare ourselves silly , but it is a shame that people don't want to salvage the window panes and wooden doors flooring , that molding over the doors was gorgeous and people pay big bucks for repurposed wood and stuff ...

Typical, tear it down to make a strip mall and/or parking lot, or an inferior built sub-division.
I hope someone salvages the solid core doors, hardware, trim (gawd, especially those pocket doors)! My home was built in 1855. The quality of craftsman ship is superior to the crap being built today. I know of what I speak, as my husband & I have rentals, the newer "plastic junk" produced today (post 1995) is ALWAYS breaking/falling apart! Give us a well maintained older home, any day of the week. Way less costly to maintain & far more lovely!

There's big business in reclaimed wood. Many sturdy houses with solid foundations and good bones are scavenged for the materials of which you speak, ruining chances of restoration. Give them time and come back. It will be picked clean before razing.
Hi Tiki. I've recently gotten addicted to abandon house videos and I think yours are the best! You give good commentary and don't move the camera about too much as many others do. But a suggestion for all "urban explorers"- you should get one of the new LED flood-lamps- they would show so much more to the camera in dark basements and such than the narrow beam of a regular flashlight.
Someone needs to salvage all of the wood in the house - so many reusuable items.
Too Bad some one dont want these types of houses . old and made good ... they could pay to have them moved to another location . i love that home
Yes it is a nice and could be fixed up with no problem. It is sad how we live in a throw away society.
I would like to rescue the multi-paned kitchen window. Also, the woodwork! What a shame.

Judging by the look of the house (woodwork, plaster and lath walls,size, lay out and style) I would say that the house was built in the first half of the 20th century which brings me to another thing that was common in houses of this time period. Having a servants quarters which where usually on the top floor of the main house.The servants would live on the top floor which is why there is that stair case behind the refrigerate in the main kitchen it would have been used by the servants so they could move about the house without disturbing their employers.
So many people just up and lost their homes during the crash. They left all these little mini 'ghost towns behind.'
I hope that a Eco store gets in there before demolition and gets everything out. That is some wonderful woodwork!

I can't believe this. I've watched so many of your videos, but something seemed way too familiar to me about this one. My mother and father's family's both settled in Komoka and I grew up there. I've biked past this countless times! Thanks for documenting and sharing.

That's a relief. I was curious if you went to these places alone. Seems a little dangerous. I used to love doing this. I think I may have to start looking for some good places to explore again.

The trim and woodwork wouldn't have been that dark originally. The sealer used 100 or so years ago darkens with age. The big window in the kitchen must have let in lovely light. Hopefully the city was smart enough to save and sell all the architectural pieces. In the US a lot of cities and developers are getting smart and making these beautiful old structures part of the new development instead of tearing them down.

In the 90s there were these things called families, and they lived in these things called houses. Now everybody's poor and lives in apartments.
Lots of folks still live in houses (albeit a lot more rented) and also there are grand apartments from the 19th century in lots of cities around North America.
Not sure what you're talking about but a ton of people still live in houses.
Junkies in Florida strip copper clean to sell to junkyards, and wreck the place. She needs to watch out for used needles. No joke, some disgusting areas I've heard about. People's kids getting cut on used needles/ razors that drug addicts leave aroubd. Smh

Years ago, my ancestors were from Quebec and the log cabin which was built in 1825 still stands to this day in the middle of the wilderness.
Whenever these old places fall victim to redevelopment, a demolition company brings in a trackhoe and these old houses get smashed to bits. It's such a shame. I wonder if there's any company anywhere that will go into these places after the owners have sold the property to the developer and remove all the reusable, recyclable or resellable componants such as trim, moldings, woodwork, fixtures, glassware, stoneware or any reusable part that's still in good condition. Some of these items could possibly be used in the building of new houses so that these old houses could continue on in a sense. It just seems better than smashing these old houses and everything inside them to splinters. just a thought. anyway, great video and happy new year.
I'm pretty sure there are because I have recently seen two houses so far where there was a crew harvesting the inside shortly before being demolished.

As a builder, it always makes me sad to see older character homes go to the 'dozer. The style and build quality will never be duplicated again. The frames are mostly of old growth fir or pine and they are solid. Today's homes are built of farmed trees, and are thrown up in a matter of weeks. It's a shame developers have never thought of incorporating a building like this as a centrepiece to a surrounding developement.
Makes me so sad to see houses that at one time must have been so beautiful, so vandalized and ruined.
It's sad to see the state of some of the houses she shows us. Some of them are structurally beautiful. They also make me homesick. I grew up in a very large stone house that was nearly 100 years old. As we grew up and moved away it was too large for a few family members so it was sold. That was a lifetime ago. I still miss that house.
So sad. That looked like a sweet home. I love the woodwork and built-in pantry cupboard! The salt damage could be repaired. And, those pocket doors! Amazing! Water is what would ruin things fastest. Shared closets were common in the Victorian era, this way the maid could place items away without disturbing someone in the other room and visa-versa. Other than a new roof which was badly needed, the foundation and the walls are sound and solid. This home should have been re-located to another area. Save a Victorian !!

I love an old house such as this one. It brings back so many memories of western Maine so many years ago.
very interesting and unique OLD HOUSE,,, too bad someone didn't pay to MOVE IT to another locale, or better yet, couldn't afford to keep it where it stands, with plenty of yard space, etc
The brick was thrown thu the window in the door. What the heck is wrong with the younger generation that all things glass néed smashes. And they have a real grudge against bathrooms. No respect for other people property
Linda Farner ....It is scary to think about but so many I have met seem to be without sensitivity or morals, they start out with this vicious mischief and work their way up the ladder to worse habits, crimes, and just do nothing but cause problems for other people and themselves. I worked with alot of them in the psych unit and that could be pretty scary sometimes.

It makes me mad to see this house so trashed, this is clearly one of the nicest ones youve explored ever, and I wish the development planners would do a better job to conceal and fence property they own that is going to be demolished.
i want to say that back area was some kind of break room. since it looked like they ran some kind of big farm type of business ( that binder being part of the payroll maybe? ) but ether way. i liked this house. loved the woodwork and it seemed like a nice house before they left it. great video as always.
Shane this house is solid and in good shape. needed updating in kitchen n baths. it looked strong n it's old. the walls show like 1920s. sad.
I can't help it I have to comment, though most likely I should just keep my mouth shut. But this kind of stuff just agrivates the hell out of men. People are such pigs. These people were pigs, due to the fact they left the house like that with all that stuff in it, and who cares how much money they got, it's the principle of the matter, regardless weather or not the house is going to be torn down. and the devlopers are most likely pigs, unless they send a crew in to empty the house and reclaim the wood. Pigs, people are just pigs.

Wow. This place was nice but now it's falling apart. I used to think they should tear down houses that are abandoned for a least a year but then I realized if that happend..these great videos would be going up on TH-cam :) great video. There's a house next door from me that has been abandoned since 2008 it's really beat up...

Depending upon when the house was built (and how old it is) that second set of stairs could've been the "back" stairs which were mainly used by servants. They're characterized typically by being fairly narrow and dark. That's what the second set of stairs seemed like to me!
Ugh that makes me so sad. I admire old homes/old architecture and that could be be such a beatiful house if renovated. But it sounds like the land is going to be put to good use at least.

in some of the places You have been. Have You ever ran into copper thieves,, homeless, or vandals ? When houses are abandoned in out of the way places and not up for redevelopment. It's nice to be able to see them without windows and everything smashed
I've never run into copper thieves, homeless or vandals. I have run into a biker at a house in Florida who entered after me and was just looking around. Not sure his intentions but he left shortly after our encounter.

House, that's on a demolition contractor's list. Fitted kitchen and some abandoned furniture, abandoned double mattress with floral cover, tiffany light and fan ETC
Love the titles of your videos, "House Of Stairs" gives it that creepy, mysterious and historical feel...and makes the places you explore infamous(like dark secrets).
Some of the things in that house are good enough to be cleaned up and donated such as the stove, dishwasher, microwave, home theater receiver, etc.

So many old buildings bought by developers can so easily be incorporated into the new developments.
Those herbs in the upstairs kitchen at 17:08 did not look like they had been there four years. They looked relatively fresh. I think someone has been in there since then, probably not too long ago.
There are still a number of things in that house that can be cleaned up and sold or donated because I would say they still work! Like all those appliances.
When a lot of stuff is left behind, the tenants usually have been evicted and have no way of moving stuff or someone has passed away and immediate family has not bothered cleaning it out.
I remember when my mother sold her house and the neighbours sold their house for development to make a 12 unit townhouse complex but what they did is they had a Young couple that would come in prior to tearing the house down and they would salvage all the copper plumbing and wiring all the panelling doors if they were in good shape anything that was left behind that could be used they even took out the post and beam woodworking that my father had put in himself out of the living room had ash panelling which is not even made anymore as it is too rare to find enough ash trees big enough I’m not sure what all they took out but anything that could be salvaged was salvaged they did not work for the developer but worked with him so as they would make sure that the good products were not destroyed in the teardown and could be reused someplace else young couple made a pretty good living at this and then developer was very happy to have them save the products but that developer was one of the few and far between that did this is units were never pre-sold your only sought after they were completed so that nobody gets screwed in the end because somebody ran out of money you do not believe in this type of business he was very top developers in the area and made some beautiful town houses for people with a park sitting between the two sets of town houses. that was used for the kids to play and be safe and could be watched by the parents the parking was all underground as compared to street parking for security and peace of mind of people buying into it like I said he was a rare developer that was far and few between a very good developer with a conscience ..😁😇😄 this was done in 2005 in Burnaby British Columbia unfortunately a lot of the developers in Vancouver British Columbia do not have a conscience and they take down the very old big heritage homes to put up these garbage apartments and townhouses it will not last using inferior materials my mothers builder use plywood not particle or chipboard as it is called which does not stand up to moisture very well and then we see it rains a lot so lots of moisture that’s why these buildings do not last as I said this was a far better contractor

Wow, they left some nice furniture behind. It amazes me why ppl leave their stuff behind.

It is so so sad to see new development. Though with the need for new housing I understand. I like see houses like this far away from roads. Remember how it used to be. I wonder what the original were like? People didn't live as long in those days. They more likely to handle the stairs. I bet the houses built today will not last over 100 years.
Couple of observations: there is daylight showing in multiple places in the roof, according to your attic shots, and much evidence of water damage to ceilings in a couple of rooms. New roofs are PRI-SEEE. Also, cracks in the walls my be indicative of foundation problems. Even more PRI-SEEEE! But none of this is un-repairable. Nice house at one time (before the morlocks got to it).
Hard to watch this one with the unfocus. Was making me queasy. But I love all your other videos!

Just thinking, but wouldn't it be grand if government projects could partner a jobs program, so the good bits of a doomed house could be recycled. Send in the job sponsored gleaners first to pick up the good stuff that can be donated and dumpster the rest, then send in the team with prybars to capture the architectural elements for resale, like the pocket doors, doors and trim.
