I love how caring a modest you are with everything in the house, but my nosy ass wouldve been looking through stuff to try and figure out how she died.
I read a comment years ago about this place and that some people believe that body is of a Fisher which sets me more at ease. The skull doesn't really resemble a cats and I've been there myself to see it closer
This seems like some realistic haunted house horror game, complete with clues to the life of the person who lived there an an ominous "dead cats catch no rats" right next to a dead cat. Freaky.
That isn't assuring... But I believe that that cat isn't one of hers... I mean, cats sometimes go somewhere peaceful to die. •The lady wouldn't like it if her cats were left behind •The house has a smell of cats and is a good environment for cats. •I'm just hoping that it is what I'm saying and I hope that it keeps your mind at peace. 😁 •Have a nice day! 😁
I've seen photos from earlier explores of this house, and its a raccoon not a cat, which is still sad but don't feel too bad as it wasn't one of the lady's pets. I'm sure whoever took over the house when the lady died took good care of the cats that were left behind (I read somewhere that she had 14!!)
@@splashthefly9039 Yup that house was a real good place for cats, they must have enjoyed it a lot. All the windows, the big patio and the big yard around the house only for them. Must have been a heaven for cats. Wonder what happened to this lady.
How unfortunate there are people with NO respect! This house was obviously built with love and creativity by a woman who loved critters and the great out of doors. what a waste!
This place must have been so beautiful with the orchards, the cats and the solarium when it was well maintained. Truly this woman was a cat lover because this house is cat paradise !
While this house is EXACTLY what I would picture my perfect dream house to look like, I’d probably spend hundreds of dollars for thick blackout curtains so I could feel safe at night. I’d never be able to sleep in there without any curtains or anything blocking the view to inside the house. Even if it’s in the middle of no where, which would actually make me want the curtains more.
@@kayleethacker1085 The big church style windows would have had automatic blinds on them at one point or possibly full wall curtains. they were likely stolen for scrap. 12:34 this is the remote control for the curtains.
***** without breaking into a home (if window open, door unlocked, even a broken window, ect.)IF it's vacant you can move into it and live there PROVIDING you visibly improve the property so as neighbors can see you are BETTERING the property. This Law was created just for that purpose, so homes are put to good use and not left to rot away abandoned. You have to do your homework tho and check tax or city records to make sure it's abandoned. All states require you live on the property a certain amount of years AND pay the taxes befor it's legally yours. It cannot be a vacant lot. It has to have a home or home type of building on it. Look it up on Google. It's very interesting! Adverse Possession.....
So sad seeing a home that I'm sure was once filled with love, memories and cats reduced to just vandalised "stuff" I hope the lady and her cats are at peace
Ellen T agreed! I felt so much emotion from the house, it’s decorated and furnished for her cats and herself only, no man, no family, no children. independent style of fruits, plants, prints and cats! and the oasis which hopefully she spent the end of her life in,
There actually looks to be another dead animal- possibly a tan/ yellowish colored cat in the basement "crawl space" area at 24:41; the camera passes over rather quickly.
I can only imagine what this home looked like in its prime. You show a great deal of respect and awe. Thank you for showing us this stunning home. Subscribed~
Heather Atkins ..exactly what I was thinking.. and going to say! **Warning.. accidental rambling/novel** 😣 When I was a teenager.. I hiked EVERYWHERE looking for old foundations, ect.. (I loved to look around and collected very old bottles). Then one afternoon.. after about 3yrs of looking every.. single..day when the seasons were right, I stumbled upon old foundations, and even a few farm houses standing! I was so excited! I had told a few people.. I mean, as a teen.. this was my dream come true.. everything untouched! BUT.. 2 weeks later I went to park at the end of the road/circle.. ready to hike down.. (there was a trail you could barely see at the end of this road.. and it was quite a hike from there).. I was soo excited.. would’ve been only my 3rd time down THAT day, because of the rain. Anyway.. what did I see..?? Yellow plastic ties and ropes and ribbons hanging everywhere and it was blocked off. Apparently one of the adults that heard me called.. whoever.. and it became an official archeological dig/site.. in just 2 weeks. That would’ve been fine with me.. but the team KNEW who I was.. and wouldn’t even let me help.. or just watch?!! I didn’t even get credit for finding the place.. which.. I really don’t care about. It was just.. such a strong passion I had.. and to FINALLY find something.. untouched.. well? Let’s jus say I was more than heartbroken I wasn’t even allowed to ‘watch’. 😔 I live in a small town in Connecticut.. I knew everything used to be farming land, basically. But that’s just the problem. I live in a SMALL TOWN. I told myself to keep my mouth shut next time.. but I never did find a ‘next time’.. not to the extent I did that day. Apparently it used to be a long road.. then forgotten and lost (dirt roads back then) .. our towns were founded in the mid 1600’s... and earlier. Turns out, again.. was a long, main road, with houses, and even some kind of small store. Exciting.. but then heartbreaking. Everything was kept so hush hush for years. Didn’t mean to write so much.. watching this gave me the same excitement and experience that I loved! P.S. I DID get a passion for abandoned houses, but my VERY first one..(that you could sort of see from a main road, but across a LOT of marshland).. also took about 30 minutes of driving back roads just to find it.. but.. there it was! I went in, my only concern, at the time..was to be careful about rotting woodwork and flooring. It was left.. just as it was. No vandalism, beds, still made perfectly, one with a doll on the pillow. Dressers with expensive figurines still ontop and in there place. I didn’t get to the downstairs yet.. I opened the green front door.. and you could of course go left or right.. but you were greeted with stairs right in front of you.. (that’s why I went upstairs first). I was trying to date when someone last lived there.. I had one more bedroom to go.. which, I assumed would be the master. Suddenly, I smelled the unmistakable smell of FRESH CIGARETTE SMOKE! 😰.. I asked.. “is anyone here??” (Which obviously I loudly made my presence known when I FIRST walked in). I was still on the top floor, but the last bedroom I was heading towards.. there was a little hallway with a banister overlooking the stairs I had just come up. No one answered. The bedroom was a few feet down this little hallway, and THEN around a left CORNER. I waited.. my excitement made me want to explore further. “It was just a whiff of smoke, and then gone. Maybe I was mistaken?” I told myself. Then.. I DEFINITELY SMELLED FRESH CIGARETTE SMOKE.. but I wasn’t scared.. (17 yr old me 😒). I was talking king out loud to myself.. saying, “yyyeah, THATS a cigarette..ect.. who the hell would be in here smoking?” Suddenly.. in a deep, deep, growled voice I heard.. “Me. I’m smoking”.. still didn’t see him ..... but you’d THINK I would’ve been like, 😱aaahhhhh!!! Again, 17yrs old. My guard went way up.. but I went halfway down the stairs, and asked, “I’m sorry, do you live here..?? I thought it was abandoned, and wanted to look around?” (I know.. 🤦🏼♀️) Still didn’t see him.. but he kindly responded, “No, I don’t. But go ahead.. look around. Oh, on your way out.. knock on the abandoned car window, and say hi to Charlie if you want?” 3..2..1.. 😱 aaauuhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! 😅.. yes.. I was stupid. I knew to be careful of rotting wood and floors, ect. And I knew at night, kids might be at an abandoned place trashing it.. (but this house looked REALLY nice). It was in the middle of the afternoon.. and I NEVER crossed my mind.. at 17.. and I guess the towns I grew up.. idk.. was just stupid about thinking about squatters or homeless people. Anyway.. once I was in MY car, (and yes, as I flew by the abandoned car I kicked it, kept running and shouted, “Hi Charlie! Gotta go! 🤣).. I raced outa there! It didn’t hit me until I was all the home all the BAD things that could’ve happened. Soo, needless to say.. even though I STILL have a passion for, and would love to check out abandoned houses.. THAT one, was my first.. AND last.. so far! Now I’m too scared?! Even if I bring someone with me.. THEY end up getting scared last minute and won’t go in 🤨 I’m jealous of this girl. I so wish I could be with her checking out these houses. My goddd! The masonry work ALONE cost a fortune! It makes me sad to see beautiful homes.. or ANY abandoned home for that matter. I’m so happy she respects the previous owner, and her house. K.. that was waaay too long 🥵🙄
This house doesn’t feel creepy like most other places. It feels well loved, and almost like you could just step back into the past when Mrs. Fern was still living happily with her 14 cats. I’m so saddened by the news of its burning. This house is beautiful and the property must hold incredibly warm and loving memories. Rest well, Mrs. Fern. I can see that you truly loved each of your cats, and I hope they’re all cuddling with you wherever you are.
I just watched another explorer in this same home, and I learned nothing at all about the person who lived here. I appreciate that you take the time to honor and respect the human beings who lived a life in these homes. I feel sadness for her, and anger at the morons who have no respect for anyone else's property, or life. Thank you for honoring and respecting this woman.
BRAINROTTDAVE you sound like the type of person who has no regard for other peoples life, belongings or property, hope you come home one day to find this has happened in your home then I bet your lousy attitude will change.
MegaGinia You said it ALL for me ... a truly thoughtful, respectful video here ... yes, sadly these days we are surrounded by MORONS who have no respect, thought, kindness or self worth all they know is to smash things, would love to do the same to there possessions then see how they feel
The whole time watching this I was thinking of how amazing this house would look if someone just cleaned it up a bit.. makes me sad that someone decided to burn it down :(
You know the part in titanic where they go through the wrecked ship and everything turns back to how it looked in its prime? I like to imagine that when I see abandoned places
She was extremely wealthy, good taste for the house design, decorations and all the expensive equipment for the felines, cremation.... I barely can buy litter for my kitten...
I think so too. And I believe that the cat who died there isn't a cat of the family. Maybe just a cat that went there to die (cats do that, they move somewhere peaceful). Why I think that? Well, the family stayed for the cats I believe. And cats lived there (so their smell stayed there).
For some reason, this really breaks my heart. The remnants of a once happy life that ended suddenly are left for all of us to see. I feel for this lady. She must've been a kind person who loved her home and her cats. In a way, the fact that it all burned down is sort of appropriate. Maybe she wouldn't have wanted us to see her personal life laid out like this. Regardless, what I have seen here I can never forget.
This is so sad and depressing... when we die we leave all this stuff behind for vandals to destroy, things we cherished and loved get vandalized or relatives start fighting over and steal...
One possible reason for all the fake plants and flowers is that many flowers and plants are poisonous to cats and dogs as well as other animals. I hope the poor cat was a stray who lived there when the house was empty and passed peacefully in their sleep :-(
Ebenezer Marley i hope so too but it mightve been one of her cats and it makes me sad to see tht that cat was left behind and not cared for and it probably starved itself to death. Before i watched this video i was worried that there would b many dead cats or even cats tht were still alive somehow but it was only one dead cat. Still sad to see and its a gorgeous house
@@LegendsofSolComics Looked like one of the cats in her photos. She passed away and then her family took care of the house and cats so it's sad to know she loved her cats so much and then her family left one to die.
I saw a lot of medical supplies and dressing wrappers, she was sick , and the book "Final Exit" is all about how to commit suicide effectively and without pain.
I saw all the medical supplies too. Those are dressing supplies so she clearly had a wound of some sort. Likely a pressure sore aka bed sore or maybe some sort of lymphedema. Both common among the elderly with poor mobility. Clearly she couldn’t remove the used cat little but did her best to clean it for her kitties. Because of the dead cat I’d expect she passed and one of her cats didn’t make it. The family took the rest of the cats when they realized what happened.
Exactly. And there‘s a lot of Litter boxes piled up, pretty sure she had a hard time cleaning it so she would just put a new one when another is already full.
Bet the dead cat was in a good hiding spot scared as hell when the rest were caught.......then it came out too late and no food nothing. That would be my guess
I also thought maybe one of the cats was pregnant at some time and the family members who should pick them up didn't know there were more cats than last time they visited the lady and also didn't see the other one. It's still really sad.
Agreed, I live next to an old abandoned home but yet I respect it because it is a time capsule just large and people should really respect things that aren't theirs bc either way if they are abandoned or not they were owned at some point in time
That house is gorgeous the backyard is gorgeous too wow. You can tell she took really good care of her home. Even the cats scratch postvwas fancy.. Just look like trash people trashed it. I wish I could know who built this home would love to see the blueprint for it and get a copy. This is gorgeous
ladydede88 I hear you on the blueprint thing. If someone had this house rebuilt since it burned down, it would be gorgeous especially if left the same way it was built no modernized stuff other than a few things.
It might be possible. You should have enough info about the place from the comments/the description of video to get an address/dates and look online to see if you can find blueprints. Or whatever government building or something that might have that info archived. County records or something.
Nikki Nikki ..just the masonry work ALONE in that house, for 1970’s and up cost what a small to medium house would cost! That’s just the OUTSIDE wrap around brick, AND STONE. Not mention steps, stone flooring.. even stone fireplaces in the greenhouse! Whatever ‘time period’ that house was made in (NOT INCLUDING THE LAND AND APPLE AND CITRUS TREES).. by today’s standards.. it would’ve been $800,000-easily a million.. (again, not counting the land $$$) ..plus it looked (obviously) ‘specially, and privately’ designed... $$$$$$$
It appears something in her financial situation was out of order or left unplanned. Whatever it was ( illness and refusal to leave her home) her son and granddaughter were left in a lurch. Very sad.
Off the bat, I love this video. Your voice is calming, you're not almost screaming about everything, you're not freaking out at the sight of a window and the way your record is beautiful. It's not rushed, you allow us time to see and take in everything. Thank you, I'm gonna subscribe 💕
I have huge respect for you. You take time to appreciate the building and you don’t rummage through somebody else’s belongings; whether they’ve claimed them or whether they’re not around to claim them. I also appreciate the fact that you don’t destroy things, and you just come in peace. So thank you for not being like other people who go to abandoned buildings. :) Update: I got further into the video & I also appreciate the fact that you didn’t rummage through her papers and legal documents as well.
Such a beautiful home .wouldn’t it have been wonderful to meet her and see the house when she lived there with her beloved cats and kittens ? This makes me rather sad to see a life that USED to be .. once upon a time .......
I feel like the sun room around the house was actually built for the cats. Cats love sunlight and looking out windows. If they were house cats, I could see her wanting to make the house more for them. We're in the process of turning our back porch into a sunroom/catio for our own cats. I believe she truly cared for her cats. The cremation certificate was really sad. When you take your pet to be put to sleep, you can choose to leave their body with the vet for disposal, bring the body home for burial, arrange cremation with the vet, or bring the body home and arrange cremation with a place that offers pet cremation services. Either way, cremation costs money. The cat medicine in the fridge for cats. I think they received vet care for the most part, at least I really hope they did. The fake flowers could have been because cats are known to eat and destroy real flowers, as well as a lot of plants are poisonous to cats. The note on the fridge about remembering to handle the kittens so many times a day is really sad too. I hope whoever was left in charge of them actually took good care of them, but I don't know... Someone wanted to make sure the kittens were being socialized. I hate that the house was burned down... The photos, the certificate, possibly the ashes of Cody the cat, the memories, it's awful that they're lost now. The house, especially! It was gorgeous!
You did such a beautiful job in filming this. I so admire the respect that you have shown regarding this home, the owner and her personal belongings. I am now one of your subscribers!
This is so sad. That house had some great bones and really cute little antique things. It makes me upset that someone would burn it down. I hope they find them.
@@kellyheaton4190 Bones meaning structure. Something you can build up from. In reference to buildings. In reference to this home there was very little visible structural damage. Ie. No water damage, rot, roof collapse, extensive vandalism and so on. As far as was shown in this video. Strong bones = solid structure (solid framework). Worth repairing. Hope this helps you understand. I'm sorry I missed your comment earlier. I would of told you this sooner. Big thanks to everyone who knew this but didn't bother to explain the meaning to our younger generations. You once again blew it. Why? How is someone to learn this. If you won't tell them. Not explained in the dictionary without knowing the meaning to begin with I checked. Once again sorry you didn't get any response earlier and to those who could of informed you. Thanks for not. If you need to know what that means just ask. But if you know bones you should know not.
In the court battle that was on going, could have been either side hired someone(an aronist) to burn it down. Ppl are malicious like that in court battles
That poor cat I can just imagine the cat with all of the care and everything that it needed and then being left behind and feeling SO incredibly vulnerable. Poor little babies 😞😖😭
This makes me so incredibly sad. All the things that were so precious to her just strewn about and abandoned. Really makes you think about preparing for the future.
I would kill to have a house like that, minus the wall to ceiling wallpaper, lol. I've always wanted a house with windows like that, beautiful natural lighting and interesting architecture. And that ceiling! Too bad it's gone now thanks to those jerks who burned it down. It would have been great if someone took it up and redid everything. Great video and appreciate the in depth history and walk around. :)
Same, I would love a home like that even if I had to remove all the wallpaper and clear up everything. The whole story makes me so sad and then to have a bunch of disrespectful assholes destroy it and burn it down :( people have lost their respect for others things.
monkey gamer12345 yes you’re right. It is 2019. But I use a film camera, a lot of film cameras are actually back on the rise. This house would be perfect to take a film camera to get that certain look of a picture. But the camera you hear in the video is actually a digital camera. Maybe like a canon or a Nikon.
@@TillaT123 not only that must be a camera, but also I don't think this woman is there filming the house alone. Being an explorer is dangerous, it isn't something you can do alone specially if you're a woman, there could be venomous animals, poison materials, or invaders and crackheads. Even a man alone is dangerous, you should go in groups. So most of the times we hear noises in these videos, it's probably the other person going around and exploring as well.
the number listed on the "old phone" at 16:46, 905-338-8705 appears to be assigned to an Oakville, Ontario business named "Art of Flowers" - perhaps she was the owner of the business ? - it would make sense given all of the flower based wallpaper around the home along with areas of the home having lots of windows
A few years back, my ex’s sister was moving out of her house. She had a cat that her daughters father had given to their daughter. She either couldn’t bring a pet with her to her new apartment or she didn’t want to, and she told us her plan was to leave the cat at the old house and that it would die eventually. It was still technically a kitten, and I just couldn’t believe it. I ended up having to take the cat so it didn’t die of abandonment.
What kind of sick psychopathic monster?!!?! You better have reported her or youre no better than her! Fucking parasite! Hope she rots in the depths of hell...i wish her nothing but misery and suffering!
Sorta the same story I had a neighbor ended up moving and only being able to take two dogs to the new house so they left a 2 year old dog I had known sense a puppy outside to fend for himself. My copper turns 9 years old this year hasn’t spent one night by himself sense the day they left!
She had plastic flowers because real plants and flowers would have been poisonous to the cats. There are very few that arent poisonous. Something makes me think she was a cat breeder...as in pedigree show cats...but may e she just rescued them. Either way...yes very sweet that she loved cats so much. It brome my heart to see su h a beautiful home and front yard in this condition. I hope that officer at least got the apples. Thanks for sharing

lmao did you just imply that the existence of bad people means that there is no God? At least in Christianity, people have free will and are not controlled by God. The actions of a person aren't controlled in any way.
@razrv3lc - ROFLMAO did you just imply that you have a less than adequate comprehension of the language and that you ain't got no good English? Me thinks that second box of wine may not be serving you well, as it appears the actions of your person aren't controlled in any way, by God.
I'm not sure if raz (Christan? commenter above) was joking or not. But I hope that none of you actually think the top commenter meant bad he was just hoping that nothing bad would happen to the girl in the video. I personally don't think god would want us to shame people for expressing they're emotions lol
This lady lived in this house right up till she was 90, as a cat lover myself bless her, along come mindless thugs and burn down such a wonderful home full of love and history, kind of sums up our world today, sad.
Cat hid when the house went down while all the cats got taken out. Hidden cat finally came out when everything & everyone was gone and was too scared to leave and waited for her to get back. :(
One of my favourite videos on TH-cam. You go so in depth and I love that. A lot of people seem to just walk over it all and act like there’s ghosts and demons everywhere. You were incredibly respectful of everything and I find that amazing :)
I think I died a little on the inside when I saw that poor cat in the living room...... :-( Poor thing... I can only imagine where other cats are hiding. I would be terrified to discover them! :-/ And too bad the house burned down 4 months ago. I guess some people don't have any respect for other people's property, regardless of the condition...... >:-(
I know. RIP to her! it is sad to think she died alone in there probably feeling abandoned (because she was). Depressing indeed. I love animals too and stuff like that has always bugged me also.
Em Christine I think you’re right...By the looks of the back legs, paws, and the shape of the skull. He probably got in (possibly locked in) and ended up dying there.
wow. I can really imagine this home being beautiful when it was lived in and cared for. love all the wallpaper and glass. Such a sad story behind this place. you did a great job; wonderfully respectful and sensitive. Thankyou.
This was a very high end home in the 1980’s and she kept it immaculate until she couldn’t anymore. Having had a cat that liked to chew and knock over my plant, I understand the silk flowers. Silk flowers were a new thing back in the early 80’s. Prior to that, greenery was heavily plastic like the plastic fruit you showed us in the bowl. I would have liked this lady and she must have been married to a doctor, businessman or lawyer. Maybe she was one herself! They were quite well off. She herself was artsy, an animal lover and had the latest stylish flooring and furniture in her home. It sounds like any kid(s) she had we’re grown and gone or she didn’t have any. Ending of a good life is always sad to me. Thank you for sharing.
"Fern was born Flora Fern Noak Miller in Vermont in 1909... ...in 1934, the Miller family moved to Quebec. In 1914, she married Simon Ernest McCullough." They were married in 1934, so I'm guessing that 1914 was the year the family moved to Quebec. Interesting that in 1958 Fern is listed as being an "Asbestos Partner", whatever that means. In later years she's listed as being a "Housewife". For anyone interested in seeing a lot of photographs of this house and a look into the "Lady of the Home" life: jermalism.blogspot.ca/2013/05/abandonment-issues-cat-lady-house.html?m=1
This is maybe the most gorgeous house I've ever seen (artificial plants and flowered wallpaper aside). It's stunningly beautiful and I was wondering why it was left to rot. I've now read your description and assume the disputed wills may have been why it couldn't be sold to a new owner to love it. I almost cried reading it had burned down. What an utter waste of a spectacular home! Loved your video, loved the respect you showed toward the home and its contents. That's classy urban exploration.
@@ellamay3816 Nature would overtake everything, and Pets would no longer be beloved Pets without their owners. Some would fall in depression Edit: Kids need to be born each year, to sustain human life. And just because some have a other mindset doesnt mean their all horrible.
No, not stupid... I thought the same thing for a second... then I laughed to realize that she probably ONLY had fake plants in her house... to discourage the cats leaving "calling-cards" in the plant soil.😋
It almost makes me think if given time would she have decorated the entire house in flowers. My guess is that her patio Greenhouse at one time was probably magnificent. I get the feeling that she was rather eccentric.
These abandoned homes are a reminder to all of us of the brevity of human life. We are dying even as we are living, getting older every single day. Surely our lives are a vapour that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. We are all heading towards our day of reckoning and eternity.
+Dr. Eeky is in Yes, we r.The band Kansas sang that song I think. When my uncle died at the young age of 22 that was one of the songs they played at his funeral. And also the song Time in a bottle. It was one of the saddest days of my life. He protected me when i was a kid, i had very rough start. He was always there for me. When i got bullied at school he showed up in his souped out 68 mustang to show them I was loved and they left me alone after he stared them down. He was a good person who stuck for the underdogs. To this day ppl still talk about his heroism and one of his neighbors gave his kid the same name in honour of my uncle. I miss him so much.

Theres probably kittens somewhere in there still alive
@@alizaschofield1503 that house was abandoned in 2000 and burned down in 2016. Nothing lives there.
This place must have been so beautiful with the orchards, the cats and the solarium when it was well maintained. Truly this woman was a cat lover because this house is cat paradise !
Cindy Lynn Gagnon isn’t it!? 🥰💕 I loved the yellow lily wallpaper 🥰 I would’ve loved to have been there when it was new
so true. And so sad for the poor cat.
May she, her husband and her cats rest in peace.
The place must've been beautiful during the day with all the light coming in but imagine it during the night tho.
My thought exactly!!😳😱😬😬
While this house is EXACTLY what I would picture my perfect dream house to look like, I’d probably spend hundreds of dollars for thick blackout curtains so I could feel safe at night. I’d never be able to sleep in there without any curtains or anything blocking the view to inside the house. Even if it’s in the middle of no where, which would actually make me want the curtains more.
Big dogs as well
@@kayleethacker1085 The big church style windows would have had automatic blinds on them at one point or possibly full wall curtains. they were likely stolen for scrap. 12:34 this is the remote control for the curtains.
homes like this sitting empty while i struggle to have a place to live doesn't seem right
Same here. Taking care of my Mom, we're both disabled, but struggling for a place to live. Living in Flint, MI doesn't help, either. Good luck to you!
Not sure if the Laws are the same in Canada but have you ever heard of Adverse Possession?
I just checked and Canada does have that law as well as the U.S.
Thanks . going to look into it . We have a few up here in New Hampshire.
So sad seeing a home that I'm sure was once filled with love, memories and cats reduced to just vandalised "stuff" I hope the lady and her cats are at peace
Ellen T agreed! I felt so much emotion from the house, it’s decorated and furnished for her cats and herself only, no man, no family, no children. independent style of fruits, plants, prints and cats! and the oasis which hopefully she spent the end of her life in,
Me too 😖
Vandalism is fun when done right.
Cats was her family and she loved flower and nature, painting, arts. She was also very practical. What a nice and unique house. Thank you for sharing.
This house was absolutely gorgeous. It's such a shame that it's gone. You can tell that Fern took great pride in the home.
There actually looks to be another dead animal- possibly a tan/ yellowish colored cat in the basement "crawl space" area at 24:41; the camera passes over rather quickly.
I thought so too, as far as graffiti goes it was quite nice. And on the small tv it actually made me giggle a bit.
I can only imagine what this home looked like in its prime. You show a great deal of respect and awe. Thank you for showing us this stunning home. Subscribed~
Heather Atkins ..exactly what I was thinking.. and going to say!
**Warning.. accidental rambling/novel** 😣
When I was a teenager..
I live in a small town in Connecticut..
I was talking king out loud to myself.. saying, “yyyeah, THATS a cigarette..ect.. who the hell would be in here smoking?”
Suddenly.. in a deep, deep, growled voice I heard..
Oh, on your way out.. knock on the abandoned car window, and say hi to Charlie if you want?”
THEY end up getting scared last minute and won’t go in 🤨
I’m jealous of this girl. I so wish I could be with her checking out these houses.

I’m so saddened by the news of its burning. This house is beautiful and the property must hold incredibly warm and loving memories. Rest well, Mrs. Fern. I can see that you truly loved each of your cats, and I hope they’re all cuddling with you wherever you are.

I think so too. And I believe that the cat who died there isn't a cat of the family. Maybe just a cat that went there to die (cats do that, they move somewhere peaceful).
Why I think that? Well, the family stayed for the cats I believe. And cats lived there (so their smell stayed there).

Exactly why you should live your life with very little. None of the crap you own is coming with you.
I saw a lot of medical supplies and dressing wrappers, she was sick , and the book "Final Exit" is all about how to commit suicide effectively and without pain.
Maybe the owner committed suicide
Carol Norton WOW
I saw all the medical supplies too. Those are dressing supplies so she clearly had a wound of some sort. Likely a pressure sore aka bed sore or maybe some sort of lymphedema. Both common among the elderly with poor mobility. Clearly she couldn’t remove the used cat little but did her best to clean it for her kitties. Because of the dead cat I’d expect she passed and one of her cats didn’t make it. The family took the rest of the cats when they realized what happened.
Wow how fascinating but extremely tragic!!
That's what I thought too. It ran and hid (as cats do) and the family couldn't spend anymore time looking.
Was thinking the same thing.
It may have gotten in when vandals broke in and couldnt get out.

ladydede88 I hear you on the blueprint thing.
County records or something.
how rich was this lady.. like damnnn

It was gorgeous!

monkey gamer12345 yes you’re right. It is 2019. But I use a film camera, a lot of film cameras are actually back on the rise.

Sorta the same story I had a neighbor ended up moving and only being able to take two dogs to the new house so they left a 2 year old dog I had known sense a puppy outside to fend for himself. My copper turns 9 years old this year hasn’t spent one night by himself sense the day they left!
Caitlyn Marie who ever that’s person was could die in a hole that it very disrespectful I appreciate what you did and how did the cat do btw
Y'all are so gullible lmao
Does everyone else watch these day dreaming what their ghost house will be like? How will we all seem haunted
Thanks for sharing
scottishserin I'd rather have plants than cats. One gives oxygen the other takes it.
Well darlin...with that way of thinking, don't own pets.
Hey everyone, if you would like more information on this place, please read the description and click "show more". For those who would like to avoid the dead animal scene, it is at timeline 7:48-7:58. There is also a dead mouse at timeline 20:43 if you would rather avoid that as well.
Wheres the description I don't see it
@TikiTrex Really sad to hear this place was burned down. Truly a beautiful home not to mention the story behind it.
It's above comments. It says SHOW MORE. Click on that.
TikiTrex I wish I could know the whole stypleaseee!!!❤️
You tube fanily
This house is literally my dream home. It's just so beautiful and bright, wish that people hadn't vandalize.
/ cozy / also its antique.. so beautiful.. wish someone would have fixed it up..
This was the first urbex video that I watched and I've been hooked ever since.
It's good to watch it again after all these years ☺️
Be careful! An alone person can be in dangerous in these places, you know. I hope you go armed to these places. God bless you.
lmao did you just imply that the existence of bad people means that there is no God?
Yeah if that wasnt a cop and its a psychosociopath stranger and saw that she was exploring alone an abandoned house, we know the possibilities
Carlos A. This was in Canada. Can’t carry guns here. And we don’t need to either
Shes braver than any youtuber (guy) she did not freak out and shes calm and alone wow👍
Why bring gender into this also there are plenty of guys who are brave on TH-cam they just aren't as calm to make the video more interesting
@@scarlet702 irk? Gender has nothing to do with the video.
Wtf?????????????????????
There's a cop up the road what does she have to be afraid of?
She clearly hasn't watched any horror movies 😁
I heard soft purring all throughout this video...appreciative ghost kitty?
Mee Mow I thought the same thing but I’m pretty sure it’s just the camera, I freaked the first time I heard it 😂
Ghost kitty is acknowledged 😇🐈
The bugs outside.
Sounds like some kind of cicada.
Mee Mow I did too
This lady lived in this house right up till she was 90, as a cat lover myself bless her, along come mindless thugs and burn down such a wonderful home full of love and history, kind of sums up our world today, sad.
Cat hid when the house went down while all the cats got taken out. Hidden cat finally came out when everything & everyone was gone and was too scared to leave and waited for her to get back.
:(
It's true, would you like to go with some random stranger. No.
K T cats can't make judgement like that. they act on instinct and probably think the people taking them out are predators.
@@kallum7959 what ampersand said, but also the cat wouldn't have known what would happen to it. It probably thought the woman would return for it
They could’ve set up a trap for it.
The Explore Project what time did she explain about the cat i didn’t have time to watch it
One of my favourite videos on TH-cam.
You go so in depth and I love that. A lot of people seem to just walk over it all and act like there’s ghosts and demons everywhere.
You were incredibly respectful of everything and I find that amazing :)
MiMi J I agree
I think I died a little on the inside when I saw that poor cat in the living room...... :-( Poor thing... I can only imagine where other cats are hiding. I would be terrified to discover them! :-/ And too bad the house burned down 4 months ago. I guess some people don't have any respect for other people's property, regardless of the condition...... >:-(
+Barry Haydue Regardless of what it is no pet should die like that. :( Poor dog.....
I know. RIP to her! it is sad to think she died alone in there probably feeling abandoned (because she was). Depressing indeed. I love animals too and stuff like that has always bugged me also.
Ryan Emery it needed to be put to rest
To bad it burned....easy to restore....was in great shape
Family probably took the cats. There might have just been one cat hiding that they didn’t know about
Her taste shows she was lady of class in every aspect of her life.
7:52 is the cat btw (just in case you wanted to look away of skip) 💓
Liv Cass05 thanks i was looking for it
It’s not a cat. It’s a raccoon.
@@emchristine7757 nah that doesn't look like a racoon
Em Christine I think you’re right...By the looks of the back legs, paws, and the shape of the skull. He probably got in (possibly locked in) and ended up dying there.
Yeah i think thats why they put "animal" and not cat in the title cause its clearly not a cat 😂😂
wow. I can really imagine this home being beautiful when it was lived in and cared for. love all the wallpaper and glass. Such a sad story behind this place. you did a great job; wonderfully respectful and sensitive. Thankyou.
I can only imagine how beautiful this home looked while she was in it.
Would be amazing to see an abandoned house that hasn’t been vandalized by ignorant human beings.
In 1914, she married Simon Ernest McCullough."
They were married in 1934, so I'm guessing that 1914 was the year the family moved to Quebec. Interesting that in 1958 Fern is listed as being an "Asbestos Partner", whatever that means. In later years she's listed as being a "Housewife". For anyone interested in seeing a lot of photographs of this house and a look into the "Lady of the Home" life: jermalism.blogspot.ca/2013/05/abandonment-issues-cat-lady-house.html?m=1
thanks susie ; )
You are very welcome Mark.
Thank you for lovely article
Susie LaLonde a
Thank you!!!
Human Logic: Oh an abandoned house, let’s destroy some stuff that doesn’t belong to us!!🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️ Thanks for the look inside!!
Human logic: Have more kids to destroy the world and take all the animals down with them.
The human race must die out for the world to heal.
@@ellamay3816 Nature would overtake everything, and Pets would no longer be beloved Pets without their owners. Some would fall in depression
Edit: Kids need to be born each year, to sustain human life. And just because some have a other mindset doesnt mean their all horrible.
I get the feeling that she left expecting to come back. Very sad, this one. Seemed like a cheery old lady.
How are those plants alive
Edit: realised they're fake, I'm stupid
No, not stupid... I thought the same thing for a second... then I laughed to realize that she probably ONLY had fake plants in her house... to discourage the cats leaving "calling-cards" in the plant soil.😋
😂
Yo... i thought the same thing 😂
Best comment.
The fruits on the table were also "fresh". 😉
It’s sad this place burned down, it would have been beautiful if someone restored it.
It almost makes me think if given time would she have decorated the entire house in flowers. My guess is that her patio Greenhouse at one time was probably magnificent. I get the feeling that she was rather eccentric.
Love how respectful this comment section is💜 hope the lady and her cats are at peace
Ameen
These abandoned homes are a reminder to all of us of the brevity of human life. We are dying even as we are living, getting older every single day. Surely our lives are a vapour that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. We are all heading towards our day of reckoning and eternity.
This is very true Julian, sad but true ~
Julian Smithe Dust in the wind, all we are is dust..in the wind.
The very thought brings me close to tears, such sadness and suffering towards the end of peoples lives.
Amen
This house was so beautiful and I bet the lady was nice to
Too bad something so beautiful has been vandalized
I FOUND YOU!!! I WATCHED THIS VIDEO AT MY DADS BEFORE I HAD AN ACCOUT AND I THINK ABOUT IT ONCE A MONTH!!!! THIS HOUSE IS SO INTERESTINGLY BUILT IT LINGERS ON MY MIND OFTEN!!! I AM SO EXCITED TO HAVE FINALLY FOUND THISE VIDEO AGAIN!!!
I wish there could be a law or something to prevent houses or other places like this from being abandoned
Talentless Potato if someone dies and theres no will or no one to take over the house you cant really pervent it.
