Liza's stepmother was living here for many years after Vincente Minelli passed away. The will stated she would be allowed to stay there until her death or at Liza's expense at another place. The property wasn't maintained by her very well and Liza ended up moving her to another place. Liza put the house up for sale in 2000 and the stepmother complained to the courts and it wound up in the gossip magazines that Liza was not helping her and that the house was in shambles. Liza sold the house and had to pay the new owners rent for the stepmother to live there until she died in 2009. The new owners made plans to tear the house down and rebuild a Mediterranean style home, but it was rejected by the Beverly Hills Planning Commission. Then plans were set to restore the home, but those plans have not been completed. Some cleanup is reported, but nothing significant recently.
I know. I agree. Some developer would buy it for cheap and tear it down. And build one of those new boxes that they build in Beverly hills. I'm still up for millions of dollars more
Met up with Minnelli in 1982 at his home. Everywhere was immaculate. Had afternoon tea with him in the upstairs room at the top of the stairs, served with a silver tea service. Remember him saying...”I’ll be mother”.as he poured. Such a really nice person. The room was covered in bookshelves, with photos and paintings he’d done, on the walls. Flowers from Liza on the table with a card saying’Happy Birthday Daddy”. He told me his scarab ring was from Elizabeth Taylor. Spent hours with him discussing acting. I’d been acting previously in London with Peter O’Toole in his company at The Old Vic theatre.(I’m British with a Green Card.). Minelli was getting forgetful as he had called a day earlier to say he was waiting for me....got the days mixed up. As I was leaving he invited me back, but unfortunately I never took him up on the invite. Met up with Fred Astaire some time later in Beverly Hills and they were both very similar...just ordinary people, gracious and humble...but with awesome reputations. Remember that Fred Astaire hadn’t shaved and had ear wax hanging from one ear. They were the Real Hollywood, unlike the ‘ here today...gone tomorrow’ ‘Stars’ of today. Really fortunate to have known the giants of the ‘industry’ from the Oliviers to Bette Davis. You’ll NEVER see their likes again. It’s now.... SHOW ..BUSINESS.
Thanks for sharing that. This video is sad as it reminds us of how fleeting life can be. An old abandoned mansion from days gone by. But we were so fortunate to have known the stars of that era and to have the memories of their former Hollywood glory. 😌
I have never idolized anyone. We're all of the same playing field. We're all people. The only difference is how much $ one has vs others. Cool story you have.
Wow that's impressive you've got memories to last a lifetime, I met Steven Tyler one time he was very charming and sweet, but like you said they are just people who worked hard at their craft and became legends even though you and I know like Fred was very humble and grateful to be that successful in their chosen field.
that paper on the wall.. those records... this is heaven to me... There's no way I'd set foot in there without knowing every bit of history attached to it... which room belonged to who.. who sat where and did what... favorite hiding places.. this place is beautiful
Susan Roche This video is over six years old. It was abandoned well before that. It appears vandals had already found their way to it before he ever arrived there. The place had been completely ransacked and left open to the elements. I’m sure many have been there since without ever having seen this video as well. Also just to add I heard they are currently remodeling this mansion so worry not.
Adam, I love your work but this is about the third video of yours that I've tried to watch and had to give up on. Too many choppy cuts, and you pan the camera as though its actually someone looking at stuff. We need time for the camera to adjust, so we can see what its actually looking at.
I think this is my favorite video you have done so far. the back ground story and the before and after pictures where really great :) thanks for the vid!
liza sold this house for $3 million in 2006. Her dad died in 1986. But she battled her stepmother for it also..I don't know who won that suit... Maybe Liza, brother and sister got something from it. I hope so. Go to imdb.com and type in her name...on her bio page there, its full of fun info....Enjoy
Yeah, I don't see anything tramatic, either. Families argue over stuff like this all the time. Do we want to imagine that the family stayed together in perpetual happiness? Come on--don't tell me all YOUR families have done that. Get real. Family happiness is a big bunch of fantasy for many people. Those who have it are lucky.
Thank you for this fascinating journey! The architecture and the furniture still there was a trip back in time! The old vinyl records reminds me of a time when some things in life were simpler and people directly connected face to face or voice to voice via telephone with each other. I really Enjoy your adventures!👍
Aww, this breaks my heart to see such once a beautiful house just abandoned like this . Do you know why it was abandoned ? That's such a shame . So sad . Thanks for sharing this Adam .
he never told the story of why it was abandoned or if it was in fact listed or a proof of the deed of trust because he's just trying to make money because every time someone clicks on it he gets paid $10 for the commercial then he starts with that demonic music which is proof that this is bullshit. The person who posted it was in high school he has no brains.
+Tiffany Blair I agree with you. That would've been very interesting. Like when was the last time Minnelli lived there and what happened to it when he left. A little history would go a long way.
I had to stop watching ... he moves to fast and much of what I'd like to see is blurry or he again he moves to fast that you can't enjoy what you're looking at ... kudos for your silliness but we want to see the mansion and its history...!
Patricia Rogers I absolutely agree. There was a sign but the camera moved so fast I couldn’t read it. It really hurts my eyes to watch this and that’s too bad because it could have been interesting. Didn’t anyone involved watch this back before posting? It’s painful!
Got halfway through the video and that was enough. Too much quick shot editing, which makes trying to get a 'feel' of the place nearly impossible. It's like being interrupted constantly mid-thought.
In Los Angeles they don't restore, just destroy the architecture. Remodel is probably farmhouse modern. Poor Los Angeles run by democrats with no value in our city's history
Wow, thanks for sharing. Unbelievable the drapes and green velvet sofa are still there not damaged or stolen. Amazing to create your own story with lots to spike ones imagination, spooky yet sad tones. Wish I'd have visited it when I was there in the 90's mind the old lady may have still been in residence sat in the dark.
Jim Goodel yap these trespassers are thieves they would take anything valuables they may find on every abandoned house they can loot especially these kind of personalities.
@Kathy R. If they planned on steeling, I don't beleive they would have brought a camera, and video taped it all, they obviously don't take camera lessons from any Holleywood Elites!! ha ha...It least they know how to video record!! These "boys" don't even look like legal residence of USA and I doubt their mother's know where they are at..maybe, they do this in Mexico, and need more training on the Laws in USA before they end of in jail for life..sad they feel they can trespass and video record without permission...Who left it open is responisible also!!! Why doesn't someone call a realitor in the area, and ask why it is open, if for Sale and the property taxes per yr??? That would end much speculation, a specail from Liza, if she is alive would be great tooo!!!!!
@@KDurschmidt - It's open because someone broke in and ransacked the place. After that anyone slightly inquisitive and 'unaware' of the laws of trespass could just walk in. It may have even had the odd passing drifter, although it doesn't look like it's had any squatters. Shame really, I'd rather someone used it and looked after it than just being left like this.
@@KDurschmidt They "don't look like legal residence [sic] of the USA"? What is that supposed to mean? How precisely can you tell a US resident just by looking?
Amazing you could just walk right in, and also amazing that there were ANY articles and items still there from 1982 (magazine) and earlier, that's really amazing...I can just imagine how happy a homeless person would be to squat there! Usually if there's a sheltered place to go they'll find it and many will take ANYTHING especially because it's from a famous persons home.
+Steven Torrey Despite all their wealth, many of these people think of themselves as poor just as they were when they were young struggling vaudevillian days.
+Steven Torrey So true. Celebrities then were not like they are today. Now they need multiple 12 bedroom homes and 50 cars, then wonder why they are broke after the film stops rolling. Same for musicians.
Wish I could take this beautiful place, turn it around to its original beauty and splendor- This is a piece of MGM history that should be preserved and not abandoned.
When did you take this? The January 2011 Google street view shows it being worked on. There are work trucks and construction dumpsters. There is signs of activity all the way up to the present street view June 2015.
+Nancy Larson-Lenz I really hope they are fixing it up.The last time I was on this street was I think in 2000.My hubby grew up in Eagle Rock and Pasadena. We lived in the Hunt Bch /Fountain Valley area until 1994 and moved to the east coast.
I grew up near the NC Outer Banks and met my hubby in college near DC.He was from Pasadena. We married, moved to Van Nuys first then Hunt Beach. It was a big change for me as I prefer the 4 seasons etc.I liked Northern Calif more than So Calif as love the cold and rain.Once my in-laws died I wanted to go back back to the east coast and be near my elderly Mother. My 2 adult daughters are in NYC but one is moving back home.My in-laws were originally from Brooklyn and many of the family moved to LA in the mid 1950's.There is hardly anyone left in the NYC area and some left in LA,SF and San Diego but we're not in touch with that much.
It's not OUR past. It's the Minnelli's past. Liza moved out, if she doesn't care, why should anybody else? Here's a thought. We're supposed to have a homeless crisis aren't we?
I watch several different people who go through abandoned buildings. I had a really hard time with yours because you move your camera so quickly and spin around rooms rather than slowly taking the whole room in for the viewer. It's very haphazard and hard for the viewer to focus in well. Please go a little slower when painting rooms. Also would like to see the details of the architecture or items more than goofiness, but that's just my opinion.
Exactly!!! He had a Dean Martin album the cover was in excellent condition, it still had the plastic on it.....I guess he doesn't realize he was touching money.
+maxcohen13 The custom closet with the curved separations was also so well made it deserved salvaging. Any vinyl buff would kill to have such an LP cabinet.
Fantastic Adam , another wasted opportunity to do some really good work but you blew it man! your camera work sucks big time ... it is almost unwatchable, really disappointing. Thanks
+Moonman it was an appropriate response to your half-witted remark. Then why did you watch it? Because it was in the search results, and search results do not tell you if the camera work is shitty or not.
I cant decide which is harder to believe, how easy it was for you to enter the property and steal whatever you like (yes even that shrink wrapped Dean Martin album on the record shelf) or why the place has not been secured from squatters or thrill seekers from entering. I'm surprised it has not burnt down!
Great property. Built in the 1920's in the French Regency style. It stands (or stood, as the case may be) on the junction between West Sunset Boulevard and North Crescent Drive. Appears larger than it actually was - hard to believe that it was only 3 bedroom and all were interconnecting, which is unusual. All rooms in the house were a decent size, though, especially the main reception rooms. Love that large retro projection TV in the dining room. Wonder what brand it was? Possibly an Hitachi? The Minnellis had good musical taste too; I noticed Paul Weston's 'Music for Romanicng', 'The Shearing Piano', and Dean Martin's 'You're Nobody Til Somebody Loves You' among those LPs upstairs.
I was saddened watching this odd tour. If I'm understanding correctly, Judy was already out of the picture at that time, and believe love lost can create mental and emotional destruction of the mind and soul, as this house quietly died. I didn't think the building materials were high quality and thought the choices rather cheapened the appearance they were intending. Surprisingly, some things looked relatively new, like the carpet and couch. I agree with others, I would want to know everything about the previous occupants, history and timelines before setting foot on the property, and although vacant, it still felt like an eerie invasion of privacy.
Brent Fabian Rayburn And maybe a million gay guys thought about that already lol But even if the house itself was free, the yearly property taxes alone on that estate kept em away due to its zip code. Strict zoning code wouldn’t allow for it 2b turned into a commercial venture either. It’s been demolished anyways, but it’s new owner is rebuilding and will enjoy breakfast... in private :)
Supposedly, there were access to the tunnels from a lot of these Hollyweird people homes where they would have people go there and perhaps down to these tunnels where they did their dirty work. This is where they hid or lived if they were really reptillians. I guarantee you probably will find this if a large group got together with protection and camaras. I didn't use to believe any of this crap, but the evidence is there. Maybe they will fake an earthquake and bomp the underground to hide it but it seems to make sense. The Heavenly Father will take care of them. I see why the old timers didn't want their family mixing with show business people. Disgusting and to hell to the guilty ones. The Heavenly Father is waking up the 12 tribes of Israel.
@@Peter-pv8xx , I believe they did finally tear it down . Watch Daze of Jordan the Lion's vlog about this place . That's such a shame that this mansion wasn't taken care of . It's sad to me .
Back in '74, being so overwhelmed by Liza in Cabaret, I drove up to the mansion and walked over to Minnelli himself who was in the driveway in the process of petting his cat. He barely knew that me and my sister were standing there. Frankly, I think the guy was vegging out, (Alzheimers) mentally even way back then. I said more than a few words to him, and he ignored me completely, only talking baby talk to his cat.
The house seen in this video is definitely the former home of Vincent Minnelli and his wife after his divorce with Judy Garland. He passed away in 1998. Leaving his estatoows to daughter Liza. Although the estate was left to Liza, there was a provision in his will for his wife to live in the house as long as she wished. Liza wanted her to relocate to another house or condo. She on the other hand chose not to move. At one point she had a lawsuit against Liza for elder abuse breach of contract etc. Which was eventually dropped. She live in the home until her death in 2003 i believe. The house was then sold..buyer remains anonymous. There the house has sat . Falling into sad disrepair. I live in palm springs and travel to los angeles to see my general practitioner monthly. A friend of mine who knows the area well, drove into Beverly Hills . The house sits on a corner lot off Sunset Blvd. On the opposite corner is the famed Beverly Hills Hotel. The property is prime real estate. Built in 1925 and remodeled in the 1960s. Its a sad sad situation that this once elaborately maintained estate has fallen into such disrepair. We actually were bold enough to enter the property through a seperation in the fence in front. Its a very busy intersection and we went unnoticed into the house. The front door was wide open . We went around the side and entered through the pool area. Its definitely been well traveled by many people. Its in sad disrepair . A lot of household items appliances remain throughout. To see the the architectural digest photo shoot and to see the same drapery and wallpaper now some 30 years is very sad to say the least. It would be amazing for the owner of this property to restore it. It seems that it is in limbo..lost in time.
Thanks for the comments. This was good for me , I wasnt aware that Mr Minnelli was married a total of four times. Thank you for clarifying. Ive been recently told by someone in real estate that this house is definitely a tear down eventually. Its a sad sad thing. The property is prime real estate in Beverly Hills. Whoever owns this beautiful old home will probably rebuild in the future.
My question is why????? Is the house still abandoned, he died in 1989 the property in Beverly Hills is expensive, so why? hasn't the house been sold? To the host you'd make a better video without the other clown with you and is you gave a history lesson while trespassing.
Something incredibly fricked up must have happened in that family to allow such a prime address to sit for so long if in fact it is a prime address. Someone's pride is fricking up not only themselves but the neighbors have to see this too. Whoever it is, they have clout to not be affecting by the neighborhood association as well.
Glenonica1 ACTUALLY I BELIEVE VINCENT DIED IN 1986. AND I READ IN SOME SILLY ENTERTAINMENT MAGAZINE BACK WHEN I WAS IN MY EARLY TEENS AND STILL HAD THE 'INTEREST' IN READING SUCH NONSENSE LOL 😂, THAT HIS DAUGHTER LIZA HAD INHERITED THE HOUSE, BUT ALLOWED HER STEPMOTHER, VINCENT'S WIDOW TO TO STILL LIVE THERE. YOUR CORRECT,. I TUNED IN TO THIS OUT OF CURIOSITY AS TO WHY THE HOUSE IS 'ABANDONED'?! THE QUESTION SHOULD HAVE BEEN ANSWERED BY THESE 'BOYS'!
Liza wanted the house and tried to make arrangements for the old lady to live somewhere else but she refused to leave and wanted to stay until she died. When she died Liza sold the house but when she saw that the new owners were not taking care of it she wanted to buy it back but the new owners refused to sell it back to her unless they made a huge profit. She gave it up and the new owners didn't do anything to fix it. It was demolished this year.
This happens to a lot of "old money" families. Rooms (and yards) fall into disrepair, so they just close the doors and use different rooms. I shot a show in that house, in 1987, and it was already falling apart. Lee Minnelli (Vincente's widow) was a nice enough lady, but totally incapable of taking care of that big old place by herself. I'm sure that it was a wreck when she died.
Thomas Gunnz homeless peoples problem isn't shelter, they have mental health problems stopping them from leading normal lives. besides the maintenance of a mansion would be far too expensive compared to low cost housing.
I can dig what you're saying. I would say a certain percentage of the homeless has the mental health issue card. Thats a different problem in itself. Theres also a certain percentage of homeless that are in that spot due to other issues. Unemployment, or cost of living, for example.
We know not why tey are abzndoned, people mess with things that are out of their control the causes entities to enter their home that often times dont leave!
I find this vid a pretty apt metaphor for Hollywood itself, tbqh... what once appeared glitzy and glamorous, is, in fact, rotten and decrepit to the core.
Not everythin g is about your issues dude. "Hollywood" Is just people. Good people, bad people, but all just people. Doing their jobs, and making money, and art.
Cool Video Adam. So does anyone know the real story behind the abandoned Mansion? I would love to know why it sits in such a sad state of disrepair. Thanks....
Here's a link on how the house got this way... some reason it won't post, but its on curbd.com. if that is how it"s spelled. Apparently, his last wife fought to live there after Vincent died in 86. He said she could, but also said Liza could manage it. So Liza offered her a condo, and the wife wouldn't do it. She was there at age 94 in 2002, and Liza cut the power, and the lady sued her. New owners bought it in 2006, and left it to rot.
After a little bit of digging, it turns out that the 5,800-square-foot estate, built in 1925 and redesigned by noted Hollywood Regency architect John Elgin Woolf, was once owned by the late stage and screen director Vincente Minnelli, and that the house was fairly recently at the center of a bitter public battle between Vincente's daughter Liza Minnelli and her step-mother Lee Minnelli that resulted in a lawsuit and kept the house in sale limbo for four years.Vincente Minnelli died in the Beverly Hills house in 1986............and he is STILL there!!!"WOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" :)
Vincente Minnelli should never have left the house to Liza Minnelli without making provisions for his current wife himself. Vincent Minnelli should have left the house to his wife or to Liza, BUT made provisions for his wife himself. He could have very easily purchased a different house/property in his wife's name while he was alive & used it as a rental so that income was coming in & go directly to the wife's account & that she could move in to that home, sell it or keep renting it out at the time of his death, whatever she chose to do. What kind of marriage was that? His last wife was at his mercy. That was unkind & certainly not loving. Blood related family can be quite cruel to each-other, let alone a relative by marriage. Vincent Minnelli literally put his daughter/Liza & wife in a very challenging position which was badly done. There were no winners with all the feuding between Liza & the widow of V. Minnelli. Liza did not live there, but she wanted the last wife of her father out??? So Liza cut of utilities? Unkind again. What was the point? Liza did not need the money. Even if the widow was Cruella DiVille, what happened to humanity or a sense of reason by Liza? So now it sits, abandoned after all that feuding. What a waste of time, life, unkindness, thoughtlessness & compassion
It is terrible video recording--worst I've ever seen. He doesn't take time to let the camera get into focus. Plus he injects his stupid personality into the photo-shoot...
The long, drawn out story about Liza Minelli being stuck with Lee Minelli, her father's widow, who refused to leave the house...interesting stuff, look it up..explains alot about why the house looked like it did.
You guys really should have done a little research into those peoples lives BEFORE you went thru the house. You really act dumb and so disrespectful to the former owners. I don't know how long Judy Garland lived there but I guess you have no idea how successful 'The Wizard of Oz' was and still is an American Icon and very BIG part of our American Heritage. You could have talked a little more instead waiting til many minutes into this. It's like you just stumbled on this rather famous mansion with a camera and didn't know much about that place, you have to remember there are a wide variety of viewers here on yt.. Act decent, provide details and hide the tattoos(must be an LA thing, lol) Now that it's being remodeled you can't go back, you blew a great opportunity. I give the video a grade of D+, sorry fellas.
+dontswin I completely agree. Just flew in knowing whose house it was (icon/gay icon Judy and her daughter, Liza's. This is more of a walkthrough of a hotel than anything. No respect whatsoever. Even to Judy and Liza being just human beings, let alone the legends they were/are ( respectfully in that order). I will never watch another video of his until he straightens his act up. The noive... *Cowardly Lion voice*
Douglas StPierre I'm glad someone else agrees. Not just because I'm gay, but because this was someone's home. They were people, like us, and were doing their best with what they were given. That's all any of us do. They had more money, sure, and more clout and respect and things of that nature, but they were still people. They faced demons and hardships. I really wish someone else would go in there (if they were able to now, after THIS atrocious video is online) and do something respectful. Also, do you think that was Judy who wrote her name on the wall or some respectful fan? cuz these two perras here aren't shit.
Jason its great that someone else is attempting to keep our foot prints in check, good job, email me sometime duglas63 I bet we could set these guys right one at a time LOL, take care

I try to be a voice for those who are being done wrong, if there's an injustice, etc. I was bullied and shit growing up so I know how it feels to be the underdog. I stand up for those who are voiceless or who are too shy to speak for themselves. Thanks again!
or they are leaving it open to squatters hoping someone will get F'ed up and start a fire. Shame on them. This place should be restored. One would think the city could force them to do something. it is creating a public health hazard and "attractive nuisance" The neighbors must be livid.
the land is probably worth more than the house--hence, a reason to build a super-mansion. George Gershwins home (last owned by George Clooneys aunt Rosemary} was torn down as was Jimmy Stewarts for new construction
Hold camera steady an slower when panning the room . you have to give the camera time to focus. also pretty weak content presented, considering the location ect
I like the before and now pictures! They sure liked different colored rooms! I can hardly believe that the same chairs are in the master bedroom! Do you know if Liza ever lived here as a child? Thanks for cool video.!
Wow, I've seen a few videos of this old house and it always saddens me to see the poor shape it is in. It's too bad that Liza despised her step mother so much, I wonder what she ever did to Liza? I guess if you have a lot of money you really don't have to care what happens to the house you grew up in! Thanks for sharing.
O M G ... that place was a treasure trove of ... memorabilia!! The writer/reader in me is wanting to reach through and snag up all those papers ... who knows what stories were in that stuff?! Y'all missed a grand opportunity, and you just act like 5th graders peeking into the girl's room. Sheesh.
+Terry Licia Doubtful....Number 1 - I live 2000 miles away. Number 2 - I have a job where I have to go into vacant and occupied homes everyday when the owners aren't there and I could care less about their possessions. It's called integrity, which it sounds as if you are in short supply of. Number 3 - Don't project your own character weaknesses onto others. It makes you look even more pitiful.
Yeah I like the videos cool idea to go into the old abandoned places. I don't know if its just my cold but watching all the shaking and turning around of the camera made me nauseous.
The court case behind this reads like something out of the twilight zone. There is really no nice way to put it, other than this... Two self entitled, self-absorbed, high feeling, high maintenance women fighting over something neither one of them earned. The "Old women" that lived in the house since the death of her husband in the 80s was still living the life of a (Very) rich person, even though all of it was at the expense of her daughter in law. According to court documents, during some years this "Old Women's" living expenses were higher than Minnelli's (Liza was paying for this women to live better than she was living). Even though Vincente Minnelli estate (what was willed to Liza) would have allowed Lee (The Old women) to live to be 200 and live that lifestyle (also part of the will to take care of her until she died, and to live in the home), it still wasn't enough for Liza. More or less it was a case of two spoiled women fighting over money to live a pampered lifestyle, one a millionaire in her own right, with an inherited estate worth millions Vs an Old Lady that thought she was a millionaire and expected to be treated as such. I have nothing but contempt for both of them.
I do not agree. A husband is to provide and protect. Especially for people born in 1903. That is what he did when he was alive and that is what he wanted in his death. He put Liza in charge because she was younger. Liza was given more than enough money to keep his wife in the same way she was accustomed too. The "old woman" lived in that house for 50 years. Many people, men or women, want to die in their home. Even people who do not live in mansions want to do so. My grandmother dies within a few months once she found out my Aunt was going to put her in a home. She actually died the week before she was to leave. It can cause health and mental problems. It is only recently people do not feel the wives should be taken care of and the kids should get everything. It is very sad!
Exactly... I know, right!? l thought the same thing... Sad to see something once so decorated and lived in for its time, "in it's heydey" as you mentioned -- with not only furniture, etc. but also the former persons energy, personality, etc. Also, the house & structure itself... now just a shell of its former self, which definitely should have been spared. What a shame. Boy, if those walls could talk..
more than $1.750.000,00 USD only fix the house without furnitures. There are some sections must be scrapped and rebuild again. Imagine all the staff in different constrution sectors you need to make this?
I am pretty sure the red sand under the carpeting was padding for the carpet that just deteriated and dried out.It would probably crumble in your hands
+Rawhealthbitch Minnelli died July 25, 1986, aged 83, of emphysema and pneumonia, which had caused him to be repeatedly hospitalized in his final year.[21] He reportedly also suffered from Alzheimer's disease.
+Tzu Keeper That's cuz they don't know who Minnelli was, nor Judy Garland, nor Liza, nothing, so they don't relate what they see to the occupants'life. Judy Garland's autograpg on the wall didn't get a second look, not even a teensy zoom-in.
@@peggysullivan5396 People are miserable in their own existence so they like to point out the mistakes of others to make themselves feel better. I nice correction would be the way to do it, instead, you get this type of attitude. It is very sad.
Liza sold the property in 2006, but Lee Minelli still lived there till she died in 2009. So whomever owns the place just hasn't done anything with it yet.
Yes, it is the carpet padding that has dry rotted over time, not the actual carpet itself. Carpet padding today is generally a yellow creamy color, but it used to be red back then. It basically just turned into a powder as it was rotting.
I talked to the polices about that...they said they would arrest whoever if whoever jjumps over the fence to Minnelli's home. Someone owns this abandoned property until someone affords to buy it then......You all can not go in there or you get arrested.....I contacted the owner who owns this property and asked if I'd go in there and look around to see if I like it or not....She said Ok go ahead and let me know.....I can go there with my friend soon.....Well I am done!....Have a good one!
Melody Veylupek You talked to the police about a house you don't own and do you think the police would waste tax dollars on policing that dump? The city owns it and it will be auctioned off in time...that is if someone wants the headache!
You would have to go there with the owner or you would fined for trespassing on private property. Every Tom,Dick and Harry would be telling the officer the same thing. Home owner or realty representative no other exception.
I used to work in Law enforcement. First you be questioned why you are here in a closed area. Second you be asked for ID for identification. All information will be on record in case you attempt in the near future to wandered back on the property.
its going to be torn down, its the property that is valuable, not the old house, the owner does not care about the house, but it would seem like they would board it up
Tom Coffin while you sit in-front of your computer screen only moving your arms. maybe you just go out and film these locations? no? then stfu and appreciate the work.
I doubt it is "prime Beverly Hills property". Some BH real estate company would have jumped on it years ago. Most likely just outside of it in an area that is not "prime", maybe the Hollywood hills. Unless Liza still owns it and it is her own personal Grey Gardens.
57timmyb It's on the southeast corner of West Sunset Boulevard and North Crescent Drive in Beverly Hills. A real estate company hasn't jumped on it because the current owners -- who bought it in 2002 and were contractually able to take possession in 2009, haven't decided whether to restore it, tear it down, or sell it.
hey adam the woo I'm a big fan when is the next good video your gonna post up I always enjoy the place u go, wish I was part of the crew just to hang out with u guys and girls
I find it amazing that *any* place in Beverly Hills could be abandoned!
I know. I agree. Some developer would buy it for cheap and tear it down. And build one of those new boxes that they build in Beverly hills. I'm still up for millions of dollars more
Yes especially with all the homeless, and illegals...odd
@@gaius_enceladus It's California. Just a box would be in the six-figure range.
PETER ROBERTS Wow👍🏼
I have never idolized anyone. We're all of the same playing field. We're all people. The only difference is how much $ one has vs others. Cool story you have.
Very cool 👍 something you will always remember and cherish thank you for sharing that who ever you maybe! God bless
Would have loved to watch this but the camera was moving so much it made me dizzy, so I had to stop.
Now it will be a target for vandals.

I think this is my favorite video you have done so far. the back ground story and the before and after pictures where really great :) thanks for the vid!
wish you would fill us in more about the "sad story". Looking at an abandoned house without a story makes this video dull to watch.
liza sold this house for $3 million in 2006. Her dad died in 1986. But she battled her stepmother for it also..I don't know who won that suit...
Maybe Liza, brother and sister got something from it. I hope so.
Go to imdb.com and type in her name...on her bio page there, its full of fun info....Enjoy

+WoodyTV he wasn't being an ass....?
Yeah, I don't see anything tramatic, either. Families argue over stuff like this all the time. Do we want to imagine that the family stayed together in perpetual happiness? Come on--don't tell me all YOUR families have done that. Get real. Family happiness is a big bunch of fantasy for many people. Those who have it are lucky.
sounded like it. maybe I jumped the gun lol
It's not sand. It's the old carpet padding that has disintegrated. And please slow down with your panning and wait until your camera focuses please.
I DID NOT SEE YOUR COMMENT BEFORE I POSTED MINE. LOL ALMOST VERBATIM.
Men take horrible in home videos!
Would Be good if u told the story during the tour 😢
It'd be real good if that dude with the crazy hair would reveal its a wig attached to that hat.
Very surprise to see you minimal vandalism, and I was surprised to see the house wasn't stripped for the copper.
This is cool to see but I wish you had told the story of WHY it was abandoned.
he never told the story of why it was abandoned or if it was in fact listed or a proof of the deed of trust because he's just trying to make money because every time someone clicks on it he gets paid $10 for the commercial then he starts with that demonic music which is proof that this is bullshit.

I was thinking the same thing!! The way they edited the video was choppy and super annoying.
Exactly. Slow down with moving the camera
haha, I didnt want to take 11 minutes and watched it at 2x speed so I never noticed.
He’s style is very different today, with excellent commentary and still shots of what he’s looking at.
It's like being interrupted constantly mid-thought.
was not focusing on things in the house long enough.
I agree..

As of this writing, the mansion is being remodeled.
is the property listed for sale or is it owned now?
They must have changed their mind, and remodeled with demolition equipment

Curious as to why it has been abandoned? With it's heritage, you would think someone would purchase, and, restore it.
I was surprised at how shabby the place was. Mansion? More like a big house...

When did you take this? The January 2011 Google street view shows it being worked on. There are work trucks and construction dumpsters. There is signs of activity all the way up to the present street view June 2015.
I'm glad to hear this. As a child of the 1940's I was deeply saddened by the condition of Minelli's home.😢

That "red sand" is/was carpet padding...that old type pad dry rots and disintegrates into fine particles...
I have walked past this place often. So sad what happened to it. We need to preserve our past better than this.
It's not OUR past. It's the Minnelli's past. Liza moved out, if she doesn't care, why should anybody else? Here's a thought. We're supposed to have a homeless crisis aren't we?
Love watching them go though the house. Wish they would tell us the story about the house and describe what they are seeing. Loved the video
*panning rooms
I agree. That's what I was thinking, too. I got dizzy in the white and black wall papered room when he was spinning so fast.
It's September 2024 and I love coming back to Adam's old videos. Helps me feel positive when I'm feeling gloomy.
It's padding that turned to dust after years in the elements not sand under the carpet.

Fantastic Adam , another wasted opportunity to do some really good work but you blew it man! your camera work sucks big time ... it is almost unwatchable, really disappointing. Thanks
Then why did you watch it?

Half wit? Should I be offended by that "half witted" insult apparently directed to me?
I totally agree!
Hey Adam. This was my first video I ever watched for abandoned places. Been subscribed ever since. Keep up the great work. Be safe. Fan for life….
I think that red sand was once carpet underlay padding, it's just disintegrated with age.
Dan Blundon Yeah, that's what carpet padding is engineered to do. Reduce itself to dust in as short a lifetime as that carpet is old. Not plausible.
no that was beach sand - some pinko comi got to before the camera did.
Amazing how good film clarity has gotten..cool to go back and see just 9yrs difference
There are about a million gay guys who would buy this and turn it into a Judy/Liza shrine. Maybe a B&B?

Good on him . Why would you even do that .

Abandoned mansions in America......Homeless people in America.......See a problem here??

Here is a recent link as well
la.curbed.com/archives/2014/03/inside_vincente_minnellis_longabandoned_beverly_hills_mansion.php
Herb Walker got
so is this place for sale or not?
I'm surprised at how much is still in the house. Love the before and after shots. Great video. Thanks.

Interesting house, dumb hosts. Would be cool to watch a walk thru like this with someone who knows more about the history of it.
If you saw the category on this video, it says entertainment. Not an informative.
I know..I'm just expressing a wish.
The long, drawn out story about Liza Minelli being stuck with Lee Minelli, her father's widow, who refused to leave the house...interesting stuff, look it up..explains alot about why the house looked like it did.
+RedTango Amen to that.
+RedTango You got that right. I was just thinking the same thing.

Gmail account? And thank you. I was born in 82 and raised in both the 80s and 90s. TV was good. Music was great. Kool-Aid was a quarter and food was cheap lol. I try to be a voice for those who are being done wrong, if there's an injustice, etc. I was bullied and shit growing up so I know how it feels to be the underdog. I stand up for those who are voiceless or who are too shy to speak for themselves. Thanks again!
Why in the world is that abandoned? What happened? That place could easily be fixed. Why are they letting it rot?
Because if it rots, then they have an excuse to tear it down without interference from historic preservation laws and groups.
You are spot on - very wasteful, can't understand the mentality of the American psyche sometimes!
If you watch the show Flip or Flop, you would be amazed at how poorly properties are maintained in California. Some people are disgusting pigs.
or they are leaving it open to squatters hoping someone will get F'ed up and start a fire.
Hold camera steady an slower when panning the room . you have to give the camera time to focus. also pretty weak content presented, considering the location ect
stabilizers aren't too expensive
why was it abandoned?
Sheesh.
Hehehehehhee
+Terry Licia I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING
+Terry Licia Maybe because it didn't belong to them. I'll just bet you talk about everyone on your street.
Jerry Emery I'll bet you don't think we all know that you were at this site, peeping in the windows yourself, dumbass.
It makes you look even more pitiful.
wow!!you should definitely do some more abandoned celebrity homes in la
Thanks for inspiring me to start my own travel channel
camera is too shaky :(
and out of focus
You would think by this point he would invest in a steady cam rig.
yep hope so.. i like his vids...but was just giving an honest comment... :)
I think it's because he's holding it with one hand
Yeah I like the videos cool idea to go into the old abandoned places. I don't know if its just my cold but watching all the shaking and turning around of the camera made me nauseous.
My wife and I were out there last month and drove past it and it was in the process of being remodeled.
Amazing that a lot of the stuff in the pictures was still there.
I hate seeing stuff like because I know that house was probably gorgeous in its heydey
Dablkwid0w2008 it probably was beautiful
thanks my friends love your channel on TH-cam.. sad sad clip !!!! hooe to see more champ . have a bless day !!!!!??!?!?!
Asbestos used as insulation might be one reason why a house might be abandoned. Or probate, lawsuit or tax lien issues.
I am pretty sure the red sand under the carpeting was padding for the carpet that just deteriated and dried out.It would probably crumble in your hands
+Harley Man i was going to post the same reply as you. that red sand is really just dried out/rotten carpet padding.
+Harley Man Rubber underlay which has perished in heat.
What a video, can’t believe some of the things are still there. Amazing
I'm surprised that Liza hasn't come back to claim that house and renovated it with all the money she has.
She doesn't own it anymore. I looked it up on the net.
+Rawhealthbitch No, he was not! He died from natural causes!
+Rawhealthbitch Minnelli died July 25, 1986, aged 83, of emphysema and pneumonia, which had caused him to be repeatedly hospitalized in his final year.[21] He reportedly also suffered from Alzheimer's disease.
+Rawhealthbitch god, mean! He was just stating something that looked like it!
Not to be rude or offensive, but is Liza Minnelli really that "together" of a person? Doesn't she struggle with her own personal demons?
It's sad to see a piece of Hollywood history just left to rot. smh...
Wow! I really appreciated you guys being able to keep quiet. Thanks! Very interesting. I wonder why Liza has not preserved this place, it´s charming.
Please, TH-cam, NEVER send me another video by these two characters!!! Please.....? What an absolute waste of my time.
Butthurt
+Moonman No, probably recognized a total piece of shit and wast of time.
+Kat Harper
Yea, they were pretty bad.
+Tzu Keeper That's cuz they don't know who Minnelli was, nor Judy Garland, nor Liza, nothing, so they don't relate what they see to the occupants'life. Judy Garland's autograpg on the wall didn't get a second look, not even a teensy zoom-in.
+Khamomil Not her autograph. Probably written there by another person breaking and entering. Vincent bought this house after he and Judy divorced.
This home is now under renovation. : )
Thanks for the awesome tour! Love the pink bathroom
Everything we have in life is just on loan.
So true.
Yes Terence , that is true .
Truth, i never seen a hearse with a Uhaul behind it
@@wandastokes9891 , lol ...that's a good one. I'll have to remember that one .
Terence unless you are a nursing home then you own it
Slow down, force in on the beautiful wood, title and construction of old houses. Your so shaky.
5:25 You guys aren't too bright, are you. That's the rotted carpet padding, not sand.
Yes!
Cat Jefferson why are people mean?
@@peggysullivan5396 People are miserable in their own existence so they like to point out the mistakes of others to make themselves feel better. I nice correction would be the way to do it, instead, you get this type of attitude. It is very sad.
They didn’t have carpet underlay in those days that’s why the sand is there.
@@dingledangle265 Plus their behind a keyboard and can't get punched in the face.
Liza sold the property in 2006, but Lee Minelli still lived there till she died in 2009. So whomever owns the place just hasn't done anything with it yet.
It's not sand maybe. Maybe it's the rotten carpet backing. It may have turned to dust.
Yes, it is the carpet padding that has dry rotted over time, not the actual carpet itself. Carpet padding today is generally a yellow creamy color, but it used to be red back then. It basically just turned into a powder as it was rotting.
its that girl.
Dude, would it hurt to stop moving the camera every where?
I wish you people would settle down and realize this video is 11 years old and criticizing it is pointless. It was the man’s early work.
Oh I would have kept the records, and the drapes! What treasures to be saved and part of film history, thank you for sharing!
I talked to the polices about that...they said they would arrest whoever if whoever jjumps over the fence to Minnelli's home. Someone owns this abandoned property until someone affords to buy it then......You all can not go in there or you get arrested.....I contacted the owner who owns this property and asked if I'd go in there and look around to see if I like it or not....She said Ok go ahead and let me know.....I can go there with my friend soon.....Well I am done!....Have a good one!
its not like he was stealing anything, by now anything worth of value has been taken out prob.
How much is it going for? Anyone with a bit of graft in them could do that place up over time for damn all....from Ireland
Good video Adam! That’s what I call a real “ fixer upper “ ! Very cool 😎 and very interesting!! 👍👏👏
I wanna know the Story of the house!?!?!?!???
How could prime Beverly Hills real estate end up in this condition?
its going to be torn down, its the property that is valuable, not the old house, the owner does not care about the house, but it would seem like they would board it up
califdad4
This guys camera work is like a Parkinson victim having a seizure
Such a shame to be abandoned, I wonder if the estate is still in the Family, Liza could renovate it! I love Liza!
What was the sad story love your videos btw
If you had one more m in your last name you could have been a relative of Judy's. :0) Gumm
The records!!!! OMG the Records!!!! {Vintage vinyl }
+mike D I know right!
+ms.Caddi me too! July 16, 1983! And....we're still married and happy!
Don Mega I know RIGHT!!! that's like leaving Gold layn around.
+Don Mega According to the last magazine it was 1983 and nobody wanted records then. People in 1983 loved cassettes but hated LPs.
hey adam the woo I'm a big fan when is the next good video your gonna post up I always enjoy the place u go, wish I was part of the crew just to hang out with u guys and girls
The house was sold and the new owners renovated it and are living there happily.
The house was demolished to the skeleton. Perhaps rebuilt from that.
No, not true. I was there and still abandoned mansion. I live here in So. California ...about 20 minutes from Beverly Hills.
My idea of a fixer upper. I would live to restore it, not tear it down!
Very sad! Thank you for sharing!
so what WAS the sad story behind this.you guys never told us?
