His years here were very dark for us true Knicks fans - to have a guy who chooses themselves over the team winning is tough to watch for so many years. Will never forgive him, his decisions, or the Knicks FO for not only bringing him in by trading actual assets (instead of waiting for FA), but for giving him an extension.
If Melo had not been on the Knicks, they at least would've stood a chance to build around a good, solid core, rather than a guy who provided nothing outside of inefficient, volume scoring.

I think overrated was the wrong word. More like, he's been a disappointment. He should have achieved more in terms of playoff depth and championships. He has great stats, but like you said, stats don't always tell the story.
Some guys are just stat machines, some guys are just savvy winners. Look at guys like Bruce Bowen or Robert Horry. Not the best individual talents, but they find ways to be winners and contribute.
Melo's just maybe a different kind of player. Exciting and a pure scorer, but maybe not someone who just figures out how to win no matter what. I might get hated on it but Iverson was maybe similar in some aspects.
Or Marbury. It's okay. The league needs them all.

Melo forced the trade to NY because there was going to be a lockout and players weren't sure if they would be able to get paid as much as they currently were, so he forced the trade and signed an extension. It also isn't Melo's fault that the Knicks failed to put talent around him. Phil Jackson traded Tyson chandler for Dalembert and Shane Larkin, Novak and a lottery pick for Bargiani, Jr smith and Shumpert for Cole Aldrich, THJ for Jerian Grant, He signed Joakim Noah to a 4 YEAR 72 million dollar deal, he failed to sign any good free agents. The only good players Melo played with were chandler and Stat on the decline of their careers. By the time KP became a star, Phil Jackson was already bashing on Melo and kicking him out of NY.
Sure, Melo was selfish on the court at times and did have a huge contract, but he committed to New York for 5 years and the Knicks failed to give him a team capable of winning a playoff series.

He’s currently #19 on the all time scoring list and by the end of his career he should be in the top #10 overall he’s one of the greatest offensive players of all time. A lot of people call him a bum now because he is a ball hog and a bad teammate. No one is saying he’s a great player anymore so I don’t so how he is the MOST overrated in nba history. Denver before Melo in 2002 record was 17-65, Melo rookie year in 2003 was 43-39. Knick’s before Melo in 2009 was 29-53, 2010 with Melo they was 42-40. Thunder before Melo in 2016 was 47-35, 2017 Melo only year with the Thunder was 48-34. #Facts 🤷🏾‍♂️

I just watched the “AI wasn’t human” video and I loved it and I just got through this video and you made a lot of good points. The AI video got me thinking and I’d love to see a video of the best NBA players 6 feet tall or under. I’m a younger guy and besides Chris Paul, I’ve never really been exposed to many shorter players. Partly due to the fact that I didn’t pay as much attention to Nate Robinson as I should have, but either way, it’d be cool to see something on the shorter underdog guys,

I don't usually post youtube comments to just talk shit about or to people -- but Melo is the one exception -- for him I do it regularly. I watched him ruin the Denver Nuggets for years while everyone told me I didn't know what I was looking at--everyone told me he just needed some 'help'--no, he needed to learn how to play the game--or at least he needed to play the game right, and he refused.
Not only do the advanced stats not lie, neither do your eyes, if you're paying attention. In addition to taking way too many shots always, I would be curious to know how much of the clock he used in getting his points, because that seemed like the most significant aspect of his inefficiency--he scored, but whether he did or didn't he used 15 or more seconds every time he tried. He was a slow scorer.
The OKC season was the season anyone who was willing to admit the truth, but hadn't should have seen it. Because he couldn't score like he used to, the rest of his NON-EXISTENT game was exposed. Yet people are still trying to pretend he was 'great'. No, he scored. He scored at the expense of his teams not to their benefit. All you had to do was watch him play, but those stats ain't lying either.

If you take out his rookie season (most rookies aren’t great in playoffs) and this past year 2017-2018 (when he’s 34 and washed up), his playoff scoring actually goes up from those regular seasons. From 2004-05 to 2012-13 which are the years he made the playoffs he averaged 25.5 ppg and 6.4 rpg in the regular season, and in those years in the playoffs he averaged 26.3 ppg and 7.2 rpg

Melo had a chance to play with Kobe but the Nick's offer was a few million dollars more than the LA where he could remain as "they guy" until he was no more, falling such a steep downfall for a top 75 player who's carreer ended in a late but failed persuit for an NBA championship, coming-off the bench as a role player.

Lol people who use “advanced” stats to justify why so and so player is overrated are really scraping the bottom of the barrel. But let’s say you’re correct about advanced stats. Let’s look at the rest of the video.
You blame Melo for the Knicks trading for him instead of waiting because he requested the trade. That’s terrible logic. By that logic if the raptors don’t win a championship with kawhi it’s his fault because he didn’t want to be on the spurs anymore even though he didn’t make the raptors trade for him.
Next you accuse him of not wanting Jeremy Lin on the team because D’antoni said he didn’t want to play the 4, I don’t even have to get into how utterly stupid that is. But if you really think Jeremy Lin was a “star” for more than a few months of his career, you don’t know basketball.
Next you use per 36, the absolute worst “advanced stat” by all metrics to try proving melo “didnt” show up in the playoffs (show me more than 1 or two series his team should have won but didn’t, I’ll wait)
Then you get to the real reason you hate Melo.
    OKC
    Yes, melo was inefficient.
Yes, melo didn’t want to come off the bench.
Yes, melo didn’t show up in this playoff series.
1.) melo is 33 years old, he’s never been known as an amazing shooter in his career and was expected to be an amazing stretch 4 his first season playing the position
2.) Who on that team should have played over melo? Jerami grant? The spacing with him goes out the window and while the defense gets better, the offense was terrible, which is why they lost the series
3.) Melo is, again, 33 years old, he’s not Lebron James, so going against easily the best defense in the league, it’s gonna be hard for him to ball out, especially when PG and RW both were inefficient and tunnel visioned.
Let’s stop the Melo slander, cause it’s just pathetic, and it just shows that you’re jumping on NBA fan bandwagons that don’t look at facts. It’s why you called Lonzo the next Steph but with a 40 inch vertical. It’s why you say everything is “breaking the NBA”, and it’s why you turned a decent channel into a click baiting heap of garbage.

Carmelo goes to Detroit, he's easily a 2-time champ and possible MVP. Detroit in 08 finished 2nd in the East with 59 wins and went to the ECF... Unfortunate circumstances however, in an era of increased player mobility since 2009-2010 he has no one to blame but his own short-sightedness. I did a vid on this a while back but I agree. Good stuff.

“The real nba super stars put up great numbers and they’re also efficient, that’s why their team wins games”... hmmm, is that why melo throughout his prime years (2005- 2013) had a fg% of .460, and Kevin Durant who everyone agrees is a super star and most consider a top 10 scorer of all time has a career fg% of .490 (not much better), and is that why KOBE BRYANT, who most consider a top 10 player all time and a top 5 scorer all time, throughout his prime years (1999-2012) had a fg% of .455. Makes sense.

G Antos fg percentage is not an advanced stat he is talking about stats like PER and TS%

OP GOAT19 yeah but look at his postseason stats he had 3 good years , i do not agree with notion that he is THAT overrated but he was a little too selfish to be a winner

Axilleas Pap people are using their hatred of him bc of his selfishness to say that he’s overrated but they don’t actually give facts why he’s overrated

Axilleas Pap PER says Jordan’s 35 season is 31.7 Wilts 50 point season is 31.8 PER is useless.

melo fan,ill try to be unbiased.
1 hes 19th all time in points scored
2 the nuggets won 17 games before melo got there and he never lost more than 40 his entire time there
3 first player to win 3 gold Olympic medals
4 had to face a historically good conference every year in the playoffs with teams that would be average at best without him
5 led the knicks to their first playoff series win in over a decade
6 is the reason lebron didnt win an unanimous mvp.. and last,in his prime, he was unguardable.

@@anthonypark8670 ok so he's never been 1st team all NBA, hasn't even made an NBA finals, only got out of the 1st round twice, is an elite isolation scorer but that's literally all he does. He doesn't move the ball around, plays little defense, and he ran Linsanity out of NY because he was taking the spotlight away from him. Doesn't that scream selfish and not a winner to you?
