Exactly. We love our bigger eye, better brow, higher cheek and more defined jaw. 70-80% of the population has better left side. Only 20-30% is "rightie". The full cast of the tv show Bones is leftie, for example. As always, everything can be reduced to maths😉

Have you seen when someone's face is perfectly symmetrical? They mirror one side to show what a person would look like. They ALWAYS look terrifying. No matter how attractive they are, when their face is symmetrical, they look awful. Asymmetrical faces are more attractive!

I knew it had to with emotions and expressions. I noticed it too. Tho i don't see it much in other people i think it's a matter of preference that we all subconsciously agree on. I know my left side looks better so I'll take pictures on that side.

I feel like it’s because most people are right handed and taking pictures of yourself with your right hand gives more flattering pics of the left side than right. Something about the camera and how it picks up the angle

I have an asymmetric jaw (a lot of people do so this might be your case too) where the left side is longer than the right, so my left jawline is strong and my right is weaker since it’s shorter and my skin looks droopier/jowlier since there’s less bone structure to stretch it out! Apparently people see your right side of your face first too, which is annoying 😭

The myth of parts of the body being controlled by certain sides of the brain is false. The whole brain controls the whole body. Yes, the right side of the brain does handle emotions: but it does not exclusively handle the left side of the body. The right brain’s function as an emotional processor has no bearing on facial expressions on the left side of the face.
It’s not really a myth, because it’s based of of research and case studies. People that have brain damage on a hemisphere tend to loose the ability to move the side that is controlled by that hemisphere.
People that have a damaged corpus callosum have the sides of their body behave in autonomy of one another.
There was an English teacher that somehow had only one side of her brain, so she could move only one half of her body (the opposite of the hemisphere). You can look it up to find out more.
I like my teeth how they are but for photos, my left side looks better bc my teeth are straighter on that side
im fairly certain its connected to posture. Most people use their right hand and arm for generally everything, including holding their phones at unhealthy angles. This strains the muscles and causes postural imbalance as your left hand/arm is mostly unused and right is stressed. Most people are right hand dominant. It causes your neck muscles to be weaker on the right side thus causing weaker side profile and lack of forward projection of that side of your facial muscles aswell.
I heavily favor my right side, including bad posture, sleeping on the right side and eating on the ride side more. It's the side who looks harsher and more masculine, while my left side is prettier and softer. So I actually think it does the opposite.

My face is asymmetrical (might be cuz car hit me when i was a teenager) and my right side really does look worse - my nose looks longer and you can see it was broke, face doesnt look soft but sharp somehow.. while left side looks much better cuz of the nose as it looks more straight and bump is less visible… and my emotions or my nerv is working best in my right eyebrow i can arch that up to heavens when i get irritated 😅
Personally I prefer my right. I have a natural beauty mark on my chin right side. Throughout my struggles with my self esteem it’s always been a fav attribute of mine.

Usually left-handed people have the brain controls switched, so instead of the right side brain controlling emotions it’s the left side brain and vice-versa with the other controls

I thought it would be related to reading faces left to right and looking in the mirror makes you read the left side of your face first, whereas most people looking at you would observe the right side of your face first. But that might not apply with people who’s written language is structured differently.
I know most people prefer mirrored images of themselves instead of the angle other people see looking at them.
Sometimes i look at my face and think how good looking i am and sometimes i want to vomit looking at my face in my front camera or mirror.

No one ever talks about this, this is also about mandible, i used to eat food with the left side, making the bones stronger and bigger, making the right side look better since in the right side makes the left sides bone look more prominent and have nice curves, now things changed, i have equal mandible and it doesnt matter, but no one ever talked about it, the bones structure changes with ur mandible activity
i don’t think this is true. it’s not about conveying emotion, it’s about symmetry! i prefer my left side bc it’s more symmetrically balanced,, for example my nose is more pinched on my left side & slightly bulbous on the right, also my nostril is flared out a bit more on the right side. my eyelid is a lil more hooded as well as my top lip is slightly smaller & uneven on the right side. my left side has a sharper cheekbone and jawline then the right. literally nothing came out better on my right side except for my eyebrow lol. even my ear is slightly bigger on that side, it’s crazy.

There's no such thing as super symmetrical. 99% of the people on the planet have some sort of assymetry. In some it's very noticeable in others less and in others hardly noticeable but it's there.

Actually, research shows that there might be a correlation between mothers, holding their child on the right side, and then looking into their child’s left eye most often than the right… So as the child ages and develops, when looking into their own left eye in a reflection, or into others, left eye, it triggers an emotional/bonding response.

There's a study on the fact that majority of people tend to view the right side of peoples faces much more than the left side when interacting with them. It's a general habit of interaction for most people and you can test it yourself by interacting with people you have interacted with before and focus specifically on which side of the face you are looking at, one may make you a bit uncomfortable since it feels like you have a completely new view of the person.
Similarly we do the same when we look at ourselves in the mirror so we often become more comfortable with the left side of our face since mirrors reflect. Unfortunately this isn't the side other people typically pay attention to as much.

My god, why is the brain so dramatic and complicated? It´s one body, CONTROL THE FACE SIDES EQUALLY.
Also, some people have less developed muscles on one side of their face. Usually the more attractive side is the more developed side.
Some people also have a crooked face, because their jaw deviates to one side. This also can influence which side they prefer to show.
Fun fact: Your jaw bone actually starts shrinking after you have a tooth removed. This is due to lack of stimulation to the bone.
The bone loss can only be prevented by getting a bone graft and a tooth implant, to replace the missing tooth. This bone loss can also cause asymmetry in the face.

Well, I have only one mole exception on the right side of my nose.
My right side is messed up by one of my two front teeth having being pushing up on my lip all the way through puberty so it kinda changed the same of the right side of my lower face and even gave me a deeper laugh line on that side. On my left side my eyelid is lower and actually makes that eye look better than my normal eye on top of the rest of the left of my face being normal also. So my left side is better.

Try the following experiment:
1. Cut vertically the front photo of your face.
2. Rereate a full face by mirroring left side and then right side.
3. Compare these two faces. They are completely different.

So I had to get a crown down and it caused me to switch the side I chewed on… it changed the “good side” of my face because it was more toned from the chewing. This doesn’t have to do with being more “emotive” just simple tonicity.
Another theory could involve the left side correlating to the side of where your heart is present. My left side of my body does kinda look better I guess. But the face thing did change when I switched the side I chewed on. So, now I chew gum (big wad & change sides) when I want to work out my face while driving or something.
My left has a way sharper face and my right just feels plumper, but for some reason it looks very symmetrical on the mirror, it just feels weirder for me
I honestly see my left more attractive as my face is not really symmetrical. My left eye, nose and lips are well placed. My left hairline isn't too wide as well, and left my temple looks better. My lips are not symmetrical. Neither are my eyes. The left side definitely shows a fuller lip and a different eye crease. That’s why I can never do eyeliner the same for both eyes.

It’s got nothing to do with brain,it’s jst that everyone’s face is asymmetrical unless u belong to the top 0.0000012 percent of the human population with peak facial symmetry,and people tend to have better facially developed features on their left side of their face and hence they tend to use their left side.
I’m pretty sure that the real explanation is a lot simpler. Most people sleep on their right side which over time can change how your right side of your face looks. If you sleep in your left obviously you’d prefer the opposite. At least that’s why I think I like my left side more, because each side definitely looks different- it’s not my imagination
The study of physiognomy which developed in China over 100s of years, states that the left side is the “feminine” thus softer side while the right side is the masculine. It’s now deemed a pseudo science but there are many books on it and it’s really interesting! It’s the topic of how facial features are linked with certain personality traits.
So I just checked all of my selfies and actually the amount of left and right facing are equally 50/50. Do do only some have a preference? All of my photos seem to display equal emotions

In reality. Left side is over developed because that's where your language center is hence why humans are mostly right hand dominant. And animals 50/50 hand dominant. That side also gets the most hormones for development. Also logic is left sided so this is a also an advantage

I think it's based on if you're a lefty or right. The less dominant side becomes your best side.
I'm legitimately ambidextrous so either side if fine with me.
A good example is looking at your hands, you will see if you are right handed it looks more beat up compared to your left and vice versa.
I use either hand to wipe me ass, that shows I don't truly know which side is more dominant. It all depends how what hand I chose to use at that moment.

eyebrow like the Rock and I have a dimple yet I do gravitate towards the left. Yet when I looked back at my pictures rare occurrence that somebody took a picture of my right side that side actually looks more friendly and happier.
You know how your esophagus enters your stomach from an angle and doesn't go straight down into it? If you lay on your left side you can burp while sleeping and not have uncomfortable pressure on your esophagus from your stomach. So people will be more prone to sleep on their left side. That could be a factor in creating a left side bias.

My left side is my more attractive side. My left half of my mustache grows slightly more thick and dense, the hair on the left side of my head grows forwards, so when styled backwards, it has more volume, my left eye has a nicer almond shape. But it doesn't matter because my side profile on either side is atrocious 😂
