      Sig 365 great as expected. The LCP Max trigger takes getting used to. For A CCW a heavy trigger may be a good thing considering no safety.

      Lol! Good man. I have both as well. Max will be my primary summer gun since I like to tuck in a polo shirt most days using my Vedder light tuck and it doesn’t print at all plus it’s just so light. I LOVE my 365 with a 507k on it but it’s just that much bigger and heavier that the Max makes more sense for me in summer clothes. YMMV.

    Items he missed: Slide stays open when mag emptied, magazine ejector is ambi, double spring guide. 12 round mag increases grip to a 3rd finger. Break-over weight on the trigger is a little under 6 lbs.

    I’ve carried an LCP II everyday for a few years not fun to shot but excellent to pocket carry. I picked up a LCP Max a few days ago and the difference are substantial and you have to shoot them side by side to feel the difference. The Max shoots so much better. The slightly wider grip makes it feel like a bigger pistol then it is. The Max grip is about 1/4 inch longer the the LCP II with a 6 round mag but shorter then the 7 round mag. Amazingly the weights empty are exactly the same.

    Traded my LCP2 in on one a week or so ago. Got about 120 rounds through it and love it so far. Glad I made the trade because the Max definitely replaced the 2. Just waiting on the 12 round mag to be delivered and it will enter my EDC rotation.

    Picked up mine a couple weeks ago... LOVE IT!
    I have managed to put 100 rounds through it (yes I had to break into my back stock but it is worth it) and I am very happy with its performance.
    I was seriously thinking LCPII, they are a bit skinny in the hand but appealing none the less. I am glad I waited long enough for this come out! The grip is wider, and fits my hand, and several others I have show this too, very nicely.
    The 10 round mag is supplied with a flush mount base plate, I did swap it our for the supplied finger rest base plate and it works just perfectly for me!
    I wear Wrangler jeans pretty much always, and the front right pocket works for carry, its comfortable while I am in a vehicle, or at my desk. I forget its there when I'm at the grocery store ect.
    Empty weight, with holster, is 11.68 oz. Add the 10 + 1 rounds, I see 15.34 oz on my digital kitchen scale.
    I'm thinking I will get a 12 round mag later on, but frankly the 10 round fits my needs well!

Also like that Ruger has the LCP II 22lr as a trainer and their Max 9, Security 9 & Ruger-57 for step ups. Ruger has quietly put together a very nice line up of self defense hand guns.

    I wish they would have engineered a slot at the rear so a cover plate could be installed after the gun is assembled so pocket lint wouldn't be able to accumulate in the hammer cutout on the back of the slide.

  • @ditchdigger93
    @ditchdigger93 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I was the lucky one that bought one that shoots about a foot low at twenty feet. No, not the shooter, none of my other small pistols have that problem, and I don't have a clue to why, but it stings the trigger finger when you shoot it. I see no reason why it would do this, but it feels like the trigger resets just a little bit when the slide hits the back of the stroke when you fire it. Bullets are not keyholing, but it shows very shallow rifling in the barrel. Just shot it with a good solid rest and got a ''pattern'' of about a foot and way low with it. Have already contacted Rugar about it. So far, Not impressed with the gun at all other than it functions perfectly. And yes, I've tried several different brands and designs of ammo in it and they all shoot the same way.

  • @Desperado3248

    Nice pistol. I would have added a grip safety. Lightweight, light recoiling. What some don’t get is that a 380 in a pistol like this allows several rounds to be placed in a small area rapidly. That increases shocking power geometrically. It penetrates , but doesn’t overpenetrate. I had suggested to Zcoktvyears ago that they produce a pistol like this based on the old 1908. They never did , but this Ruger comes close. Ruger should have some ammo made especially for this pistol. A 100 gr hard cast flat point like the BuffaloBore, or Critical Defense or Federal 95 gr at a legit 950-1000fps from this pistol.

    • @oak8728
      @oak8728 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A grip safety would deter from the overall strategy of the Max. Not to mention Ruger has been affirming a shift from the current grip safety to other more suitable preventative measures.

    I have to disagree that it shoots as well as a Glock 42. I have both. I put 200 rounds through my LCP MAX then compared them head to head. I have my own corse of fire that I put my concealed carry guns through. Five present and fire from 10yd, five shots LH from 10yd, five RH 10yd, five shots rapid from 10yd, five shots slow from 15yd. All shots are on a 12X16in steel plate. I've run both guns twice. Both times I got an 88 with the LCP Max with misses in different parts of the corse of fire. Both times I cleaned it easily with the Glock 42. The 42 is heavier, has a longer sight radius, and has a shorter trigger reset. Also the factory Glock night sights are a bit smaller and more precise then the LCP sights. This all adds up a gun that is objectively easier to shoot fast and accurately. Now the grip on the LCP Max feels way better then the Glock. Glock needs to get away from the polymer mags, and make a 42X. Same grip length with a 10rnd steel magazine and a slightly wider grip. Ruger needs to make and LCPEX with the same barrel length and sight radius as the Glock 42. And Smith&Wesson need to beat them both to the punch and make a smaller version of the Shield in 380, like a Glock 42, with a ten round magazine. The LCP Max and the Glock 42 are and aren't appels and oranges. For me I can carry a Glock 42 in my pocket just fine. And while I have less capacity, I'm more likely then not to not need even all of that. Also I'm more likely to make effective hits with the Glock. So I carry thay one. But I also train with and intend to get back into steel challenge shooting with my Glock 34. So that's a factor as well. I like the Max and will keep it. I'm intending to get my wife the Security 380. Once I get her where I want her with that gun I'll transition her to the Max. For her the smaller size is a major benefit. Both the Max and the Glock 42 have strength in different areas. But I consistently out shoot the Max with the 42.

    I do hope other manufacturers "chase" the LCP Max. I live in a dense city and find .380 to be my preferred carry. Enough power but less risk of over penetration. I also love the pocket size. I've been carrying the LCP2 for about 5 years now...unfortunately (or fortunately). Looks like I need another ruger! I would love to see some competition in this micro (pocket) double stack 380 world soon! Thanks for the video

    The slide lock back doesn't work on the one I just bought. The only way I can get it to work its by holding up on the magazine with one of my fingers while pulling back on the slide. There is a fitment problem between the magazine catch and the magazine Notch causing the magazine to set too low in the action. I have not wasted precious and expensive ammo to find out how many failure to feeds a to low magazine is going to cause.

    Picked it up last night and put 50 through it this morning. The trigger kept biting my finger. First time I've had that problem. This unit came with some surface rust on the slide mostly around the serrations still trying to remove that. Could not see it with the lighting at the store or I would not have picked it up. This gun rattles when you shake it. It is super light with little to no felt recoil. The gun did not want to take the last round in the mag at first and did not want to accept full mag when inserted at first as well. After it broke in a little bit it took all 10 rounds in mag and gun just fine. Had zero firing issues though. I saw a vid where the guy said the gun was shooting low and left-this unit seems that way too. I could get a nice group if I was aiming at around 2:00. Overall for being my first 380 and costing 380 I like it enough to keep it for the deep conceal ability because it is super tiny. Wondering how long it will last the barrel has very little weight to it. The ammo I used was Winchester 95 gr. Thanks Allen another great vid!

      I tried one & the Glock 42 just feels so much better for me, but I highly prefer the Glock grip angle.
      The LCP Max is thicker, but still feels snapier.
      The trigger is better than the other LCPs, but I'm still not a fan.
      I changed a few trigger components on the Glock & I really like the trigger on it.
      Not too light to be unsafe for carry, but not too heavy to have me pulling shots when rapid firing.
      I don't carry .380 very often, but I do fire it on a regular basis, so I have put a lot of rounds through the Glock, so maybe I've just gotten used to it.

      @@deejayimm I think I’d compare it to HK and Glock with the polymer pistol trend. Sure, HK made the first polymer pistol, but it was so hideously unattractive that the trend never kicked off until Glock made the second, better looking polymer pistol. • @deejayimm
      @deejayimm 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@deathbymazda I think the vp70 was a victim of timing as well, even in the 80s alot of people were apprehensive about polymers in the Firearms industry. Yea it was ugly, but it was also expensive and right around the same time that people were calling the M16 the Mattel, and the only polymer on it was in the stock and the fore-end. I'll bet people back then were absolutely horrified at the concept of a plastic receiver. Also, I don't think keltec is incompetent, they are just different and I think they like that, I like that about them. They do their own thing and the world needs more companies that don't JUST care about what is profitable. That being said I did not think the P11 was a particularly good pistol, add that to the stigma of the keltec brand, and it's not exactly trendsetting.

      You’re right, but Kel-Tec doesn’t move the volume or produce the quality control necessary to make a splash in the industry by themselves. So, Sig (and many others) have taken the concept and run with it. Very successfully, I might add. Just like the majority of inventions, the one who comes up with the idea usually doesn’t have the resources to make it happen. Sig did.

    Thought it would be awesome. Was not. The trigger bit me repeatedly , very maddening. Too much space below the trigger. I could keep it from biting , but I had to use a grip that I did not like / much different from what I run on all my other semis. I also thought the trigger break was way too deep ( too far back / close to the grip) - I hate that. But that seems to be a trait of all the LCP line. Test it carefully before you buy. I still have an original LCP with the improved anodized trigger (and yep, even have a Kel-tec - the original original LCP). To me, the LCP original is just as nice to shoot. I also have to disagree with the presenter when he says this new gun is as easy to shoot as a G42. although I no longer have my G42, that gun was significantly larger than this lcp max. Longer barrel. A bit heavier. No way this new Ruger is as easy to shoot as the g42. So while I agree all the LCP guns are pretty decent in recoil overall, the G42 has them beat in that area, likely by virtue of size , barrel, and maybe a bit lower bore axis. For lowest recoil the big browning / beretta is the 380 of choice. I’d suggest avoiding the PPK though, as it seemed a bit snappy and also bit - but with the frame / slide instead of the trigger. also, I had a Sig 9mm kurz some years back, P series, it was also surprisingly snappy - maybe the blow back vs recoil does that? For the micro 380s, my vote stays with the original LCP and a strong second to the Kahr 380 (if they could make the trigger break before it touched the grip, it might make #1). Love the high cap idea, but they need to clean up the ergos. When they moved away from the KELTEC design in the LCP to the LCP II design, just does not seem like an improvement to me.

    Was $379.99 at BassPro, and it's much better than my LCP2 380. With 13rds of decent xtp style 380 bullets, I'm not concerned about it not being enough to get me out of trouble.
    Most murder victims never knew if it was a 380, 9mm, 40, or 45 that killed them. Location is all that matters. Look at Chicago. There are probably 10-20 gunshot victims who survive for every 1 murder case they get. That's the reality of how generally ineffective handguns are when it comes to killing people. Most don't get hit in the vitals, which is why so many survive with the modern emergency trauma care people receive today.

    Great idea and execution. I've yet to see HP ammo for a 2" barreled .380 that does any expansion. A 3-1/2" barrel, yep, a 3", maybe, 2" barrel just takes too much velocity off the bullet to get to expansion threshold velocities. If there is a brand that does it, let everyone know, it would be a rare thing. I have not done much testing with the .380, but the ammo used was supposed to work at lower velocities. It failed at close range (5') into a milk jug full of water. That's not even an effective medium for real life situations, I just wanted to see if it would expand at all, nope. Tried several, no good. Anyone have one they know works from a 2", please post.
