I really appreciate the level of detail you provide on your channel. Greenville feels like a home away from home for my family and me, especially as many of my relatives have moved there in recent years. It offers the perfect balance, just enough of everything without feeling overwhelming.
It really is the perfect balance. I live in a far larger city now, and while I definitely am more of a "big city" guy, I will always appreciate the pace of life in Greenville. It was the perfect place to grow up
I LOVE THIS VIDEO!!! I moved to G'ville 9 years ago, and can't imagine ever living anywhere else! Thanks for reminding me what a great city I live in. There is so much to do and see around here, it never gets old.
ive been here for 14 years and its a fine city, great food and awesome people .The only con about Gvegas is the infastructure is terrible.Traffic is horrible .
I’m so excited I’m moving there very soon from the greater Detroit area! I love the city and the people and I’ll be sure to leave the northern Midwest negativity behind! Thanks for the very enjoyable video!
I’ve always thought of Greenville as the “family friendly Asheville.” Not to say Asheville isn’t family friendly, it’s just that Greenville is a bit more polished and more kid-friendly! They’re only about an hour from eachother, so you can’t go wrong either way. Greenville is bigger and has a lot more “stuff,” so to speak, but Asheville is great for hiking, breweries, the Biltmore, and more of a local feel. I would also say Greenville is a generally younger city!
From a 70 year old native, Michael, I can tell you that so many of the beautiful scenes you displayed are the result of a lot of struggle and effort through the years. When I was a child, downtown was the where you went for everything -- Belk's, Penny's, Woolworth's -- all the shops. But by the time I was in college, the effect of suburbs and malls had decimated downtown, and it was a boarded-up fossil. Even when I was working as a nurse at the old General hospital, South Main was a dark and risky place. I went to work over the Camperdown bridge, which had been built OVER the gorgeous falls on the Reedy River, and what the bridge didn't obscure, the kudzu and briars covered. But with the pioneering work of Democratic mayor Max Heller, through to the work of longtime Republican Mayor Knox White, and multiple citizen organizations like the Clemson Master Gardeners and Upstate Forever, Greenville has become the Wonder on the Reedy that you're showing today. But it takes constant vigilance to keep the balance between positive growth and rampant overdevelopment, which is something we're definitely dealing with now. Thanks for the wonderful video -- just don't make us too popular! 🙂
Greenville is a great place! I’ve lived across the country and found myself staying in the Pacific Northwest for a while just to realize I was staying there because it reminded me of here. Thanks for capturing Greenville in all its aspects!
@@kakabuca of course! And for first time visitors, I would definitely recommend somewhere downtown adjacent. If not downtown, I would recommend something near Travelers Rest! Super easy access to downtown, the Swamp Rabbit Trail, Furman University, and Paris Mountain State Park!
How has the hurricanes affected Greenville? Also do you think someone from around Tulsa OK in their mid twenties would enjoy Greenville? Are there young people? What industries are there to work? (i work in property management managing apartments). Thanks.
The hurricane did hit Greenville, but for the most part the city is back to business as usual! It's Western North Carolina that's suffering the most currently :/ One of my best friends has a lot of family in Tulsa and visits often, and he always notes that Tulsa and Greenville have similar vibes, so I think you'd probably enjoy Greenville! Plenty of young people, lots of young families. As for industry, it's pretty diverse, but I think the anchors are going to be in automotive (BMW, Michelin) and manufacturing. That said, property management is probably pretty easy to find work in in Greenville - it's growing very quickly!
That's a great but tough question since the north and west of the city are mountains! Greenville is definitely better for sunrises, but I'd say if you can make it out to one of the nearby lakes (Keowee, Jocasee, Hartwell) you can get some beautiful sunset views. Or a QT parking lot, weirdly enough.
Hi..what do apartments rent for? I am thinking about transferring there for a job opportunity... I saw on Craigslist they are anywhere from 1500 to 2000....wow why so high?I I live on Philadelphia and they are the same price here...Do you recommend any areas around Greenville that are smaller and more affordable? I thought the price of living would be a lot expensive then Philadelphia....we currently rent a 1 br for 1300...and really every apartment down there we saw is same price or higher?? Thank you for your nice video😊
The reason they're so high is because they're probably all right in downtown! Greenville is pretty small, so if you look for some places in the immediate suburbs (Travelers Rest, Mauldin, Taylor's, etc) you'll still be super close to the city center and pay far less in rent!
@@michaelhenderson2657 Yeah you need to look further out... Try Mauldin or Simpsonville the prices should be a little better... But the world isn't the same anymore, so don't expect much 👍
I tried to make sure to feature some of the older spots throughout downtown, but sadly so much of that "Old Greenville" no longer exists :( In a longer video, I would have certainly made the point to showcase places like Saskatoons or get further out into Greenville County to look at places like Campbell's Covered Bridge, and Downtown Greer. Perhaps I need to make a longer "deep dive" into Greater Greenville!
Growing at a rapid rate! Hopefully, the city invests in good infrastructure and public transit. Greenville has the opportunity to be the best city in the South if it's proactive!
You moved from Greenville to DC for what? I grew up and NOVA and there's no way I'd ever go back. In Charleston, SC now and it's overpopulated with heavy traffic and isn't even half as bad as NOVA/DC area. I've been offered jobs at the Pentagon and told them they'd have to pay me 7 figures to even consider living there
Speaking as a native southern Appalachian Greenville sc native its Sad to say its not so secret anymore everybody seems to be moving here now, and there's out of control over-development without upgrading the roads Wade Hampton blvd is a literal nightmare anymore. I suggest everyone stay put and don't move here. We are over populated already thanks
I'm a Greenville native as well but I've gotta say, Greenville isn't overpopulated (quite low population density actually), but it's developing irresponsibly (the suburbs in particular). Unfortunately, the city is falling into the same trap as other Sun Belt metros by developing more and more sprawling car-dependent communities instead of investing in transit and density. If people didn't have to rely on using a car to get from point A to point B in virtually every scenario, not only would there be far less traffic and strain on existing infrastructure, but less farmland would be destroyed, there would be a stronger sense of community within the city, small business would thrive on foot traffic, and less space would be dedicated to asphalt. All this to say, Greenville isn't full, it just isn't using the space it has wisely or responsibly!
Thank you for this video. I’m looking to move there pretty soon, Lord willing. I would love to go visit first, but I think it’s just going to be a faith move. If you have any tips, please send them my way. 🫶🏼

It's a pretty great place, not gonna lie!
The best introduction of Greenville downtown so far! Love it!
