Medical care has always been a challenge here. Back in the day doctors used to make house calls. I'm talking back in the '30s, '40s, '50s and even into the early '60s. That's not the case anymore. The medical care, while not the worst, certainly is not in the best shape. High demand, low availability. If you're wealthy enough to live near some of the higher priced municipalities, then of course you will have medical care available. @deanlewis8083 First, Thank You for your service! I am sorry to hear about your situation. Regarding the taxes, S.C. does not tax military retirement income (pensions). Once you reach 65 yrs you can get even more tax relief from the state like a homestead exemption and over 65yo you can get an additional $15,000 deduction from your taxable income. My son lives in Cottageville and when we visit we stay in Summerville. We visited last July and the summer heat and humidity was brutal on my MS. Are any of these towns mentioned any better regarding heat and humidity? thank you for an informative video.
Summerville is a great area, but typically the further you go inland (west) it tends to not get as hot and humid. Of the towns I mentioned in this video Laurens and Union are the furthest west. Hope this helps and thank you for watching my videos!
If tou not from here dont come here and tell me i talk funny in my hometown. Leave all your old ways where u left. We dont care. Its a good ole boy system here. Ps bring tour skeeter spray😂
Lol
Definitely don't come here unless you like small towns... I enjoy the pace and no traffic..
Amen
Sorry but most of these towns have too much “culcha”.
Guess it depends on your idea of cultural
None of these places are very desirable - or they wouldn't be so cheap ! - 'less expensive' - not really very 'cheap' ?
SC personal property taxes will bankrupt you🥴
All personal property taxes are capped at $500 and drop yearly as the property devalued. They base all future tax on fair market value.
@@RetirementLifeUSA 🤣 It was like $4900 yearly for my truck, motorcycle and motorhome!
Areavibes doesn't give these places a very high score
Union S.C. Is the meth capital of the south!
@@RetirementLifeUSAThat’s automobile/camper sales tax, not property tax. It is horrible here!!
I love in SC, don't move here.
Why?
LOL
None of these towns provide the huge savings you're touting... Per Zillow the savings are minimal and require significant driving for shopping and medical appointments. Not worth it..
If you are basing your opinion on Zillow, I think there are better choices to use for accurate information.
@@RetirementLifeUSA So actual houses for sale are not an accurate indicator?? Got it!!
@marks6072 I would not take their Zestimates to heart. Even they acknowledge that up 80% of them are wrong. If you want accurate market info, speak with a good local real estate agent
@@RetirementLifeUSA I'm referring to actual active listings on Zillow... Not Zillow Zestimates.. Everyone knows the Zestimate is a bogus algorithm guess
Born and raised South Carolinian here. I moved back from another state over a year ago. Many listings are not online and are not going online. You have to drive around and to view them and call a phone number. Iykyk type thing.
There’s always been a fear of change and loss of control in the towns associated with my ancestry.
its cheap because no wants t live there
Nah....they're great places to live
ACCORDING TO WHO??@@RetirementLifeUSA
@patriot1-kt9di A study that I conducted of each town. A lot of work but worth it.
