im a yorkshire man and remember visiting ireland in 1985 i was 17 . and went to his pub and there was only 10 of us in there.... i was the only english guy in there and john b keane came and sat with me and we chatted for an hour or 2 . he was a lovley guy and ive never forgotten that cherished moment R I P JOHN a true gentleman
It was such a thrill to be with my family at the pub on the occasion of what would have been John B.'s 86th birthday. Nothing can compare to the privilege of being with so many of Ireland's elite literary world. I don't remember when or where I felt more at home. Thanks to Billy, John, Joanna, and especially Mary. Love from your American Irish relatives.

Pat Cunningham "always a warm welcome in John B's" excellent pint of Guinness all year round, Ireland at it's best.
