No T.V. ads could match the publicity that this song does for Lidl & Aldi...1.28 million hits to date...I hope they're paying him more than TH-cam. Brilliant song.
any time i go to ALDI or Lidl here in Germany i burst into laughs. And i am always looking for the wet suit and can not find one. Thank you Mick MacConnell for your brilliant song!
My daughter just rang to say she needs to do a big shop so I said ... oh good, so do I, we can do a "Lidledeealdi shop"!!! It's part of my vocabulary now !!
We've moved over to the Isle of Man - no more LidlyAldi now for me :( but recently went over to UK and had to have a fix, bought a jar of mustard, bar of chocolate, a fan for the log burner and a greenhouse! mission acomplished. No wetsuits or generators, just in case the lights go out though :(
I am a proud to be a Listowel man who knows Mickey and Maura and meet them in John B's pub every week. Mickey your a great song writer and I am looking forward to the Stack Clan Anthem that you have promised me for next years Stack Clan Gathering. Well done.

Mickey McConnell is from a very musical family in Ballinaleck in Co Fermanagh. His brother is Cathal the flute player with Boys of the Lough. Mickey has written some masterpieces in his time including "Only our Rivers Run Free" "Supermarket Wine" "Peter Pan and Me" among many others and he has done all this as an amateur musician - his day job was as a journalist with the Irish Times.
OK, but I really do feel quite stupid sitting here clapping on the sofa while my wife wonders what the hell is on the headphones and where I think I am! Thanks for completely transporting me to a place I'd love to be. Feel welcome to drop in at our session, Cobbles Inn Kelso Scottish Borders, late night every Friday of the year...
