    The nice part about building a bus is you get to do it how you want to. Exactly!! Not everyone is going to agree on the process, and there's a million different ways to accomplish a project. Who's to say what's the exact, most correct way to do it?? Everybody gets to make a comment, for whatever it's worth. In the end... comments make the video go round. Since this vid wasn't shot this week, I'm guessing the box is still attached to the bus, no one has been killed on the highway by a flying box, and all the fun stuff they store in there is still with them, bouncing right along under the bus.
    Another fun build vid. Strong work Justin. Keep on posting so we can see how this project turns out, and continue the debate in the comments on how you did it. Looking forward to the next one as always.

    You reminded me of two things in particular. First, my son going from 4 and "helping" me with projects by climbing all over me, to him being 19 and having no interest in my projects.
    Second, I love build videos, I'm glad these are weekly again. It reminds me I want to build another bus until I remember all those rivets I had to drill out of my ceiling.

    The undercarriage of that bus is SO clean. I'm jealous. 😀

      Ditto. My underneath was so bad I bolted boxes all the way up through the floor rather than just the underside.

    Nice Job!! I've watch you channel from when you were still a Fireman and bought your Bus. Your entire conversion was super interesting and I enjoyed every episode. Thanks!!

    Thanks for calling out the right way to mount it. I'm sure it's fine, the real risk I see is it rusting out over time and falling off and hitting someone behind. That said, the inside support helps a lot.

    Something that could be pretty simple, cheap, and not require welding would be using a couple metal straps (something like how fuel tanks are secured on some cars and truck) to capture the bottom of the boxes.

    ? For solar panels which material of UNISTRUT do I use, galvanized, aluminum or steel?

    I think you could install the support frame inside the box and help retain the strength.

    This is a question related to the solar racks you used on your bus. You used the iron ridge rails and I was wondering if you feel they the UFO bolts hold the panels on you roof securely. I am going the same route for my bus, but I would hate to have a panel blow off while traveling down the road! Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

    • @MobileDwellings
      @MobileDwellings  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You'll be good. We've done 18,000 miles on our bus and have the same system. Sometimes I climb up there to tighten/check the ufo bolts and they're rock solid.

      Yeah, YT disabled bc the comments because they sometimes briefly featured a child. Someone at YT messed up and took forever to fix it.

  • @RayRosher

    Should have just inverted the angle iron frame and rewelded the legs on..
    sorry the engineer in me is cringing at the hap hazard approach your taking to this. That steel work is nowhere near strong enough even for what your planing. And the fact that your going to drive this on the highway possibly putting other lives at risk if it fails troubles me..
