I was born on the Lower East Side in 1940 - In 1950, my family moved to Brooklyn. I remember all the streets ur walking on. I love that you're tasting the food - and giving shout-outs to the owners of small restaurants/businesses. I also have cholesterol - but I must have my CHEESE!!!!! I'm Jewish - and I so relate to Italians. Our grandparents escaped Europe and arrived in America (mostly New York) - worked very hard - and we were brought up to appreciate FOOD. Great Job Guys.

Jon just like how that mother greeted you and explained that you are the reason that she and her son moved to NYC that's the reason why I would like to move to NYC one day. The restaurants that I will try for my next visit to NYC are El Cabron, Factory Tamal, and Champion Pizza. I believe that the Taco restaurants in Chicago deserve an honorable mention.

I think that's awesome that you and Adriana make offerings to the deceased. I have photos of ancestors in my room and while I don't leave out food for them as offerings, I leave crystals and their birthstones beside their photos as well as led candles beside each photo.
I think that's so cool that there is a grocery store named Regina's! I never thought I'd hear of a store in New York with my city's name! Have to visit that place if I ever travel to NYC!

Visiting NY in December, will definitely stop by El Cabron to try their birria tacos. We have very good spots down here in south Texas, they have some big shoes to fill.
