    I used to get bored of Anubias because of how slowly it grows, but I'm starting to realize that it's really an amazing plant as long as you don't expect it to really "grow in" to a space like most other plants will. I've found that if I just buy enough of it to fill in the space that I want it to take up, it is great. It looks beautiful, needs no real maintenance, and just stays pretty much the way you planted it. And if the CO2 runs out and you don't notice immediately, it is one of the few plants that won't be fazed at all (something I learned the hard way a couple months ago).

      @OriginalMindTrick 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      CO2 is like a serious drug habit for most plants. You need to wind down the dose slowly and some can't handle that either. Anubias can quit cold turkey. Only problem can be too much light.

    To Jacob,
    I just wanted to write a small message saying thank you. I have had non planted tanks for the best part of two years and have only just got into the deep crazy world of planted tanks, your information has been beyond inspirational and easy to digest. I speak for myself but trust me there are many who will agree with me on how much of an impact you have made on the planted tank community. So from me and many others, Keep up the great work we'll continue to support you. thank you.
    - Connor

    I have one of these in my goldfish tank and his waste along with the mystery snail's help, it's been prompted to flower. Really great plant, no special lighting and all it's planted in is an old jam jar with some marbles weighting the roots.

      Suzanne what temperature is your aquarium?

    • @whocare9942
      @whocare9942 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      fairly warm, I know goldies can deal with cooler, but I aim for 18c min with 20c preferable in summer. unfortunately my local water table spiked to 9.0ph during an unseasonably warm winter and killed John Cena the apple snail before I even knew there had been a spike. The Anubias has bloomed twice in my set up so it's ok at those temps as well.

    i once have a anubias, i tied it to a river rock(pebble?) using a cotton string it doesn't seem to anchor, but the plant get barely any light because the ambient lighting isn't strong enough, but it lasted for 3 years in that condition while retaining the same size since i bought it.. back then 1 was a novice aquarist.. Now i'm planning a low tech set up with proper equipment. No more gravel for me given i take a liking to ADA aqua soil look..

    hi Jacob,
    I have two anubias plants that aren't very old and I just got a fancy new led light this week.
    I'm concerned about my plants since this light is surely overkill for my plants and tank size. I'm running the lights at 30% until I see what's going on.
    I was wondering if when you talked about anubias doing poorly under too much light, how long of a photo period would you suggest? thanks!!

    Unfortunately this plant didn’t last with my 4 inches silver dollar fish. I noticed the fish nibble on it and over time I’ve noticed the leaves are getting eaten up. I fed the fish regularly and tried offering lettuce. It took the lettuce just fine but didn’t stop it from eating Anubias plant. It was the only new life plant I’ve added into the tank so the fish saw it as food. The 2nd day I had to remove the plant and let grow on its own from a separate jar. I like your tank and good thing works out with the fish kept in there.

I like water plant that doesn't require soil to survive, one that branch off outside of water base. Yes I'm planing on investing some nice plants for my ten gallon. It currently house two cichlids and glad it was mention this plant is safe with cichlids fish. New subscribe and btw i admired your calmness/soft spoken tone of voice that makes it easier to listen. Great video. I just purchased my first anubias plants today. Two anubias "frazeri" and an anubias "congesis" and they are very pretty. Was just wondering if it's possible to grow them in a claypot in the water? Hi Jacob, i recently bought an Anubias barteri nana and just left it to float in my tank as was waiting to do a water change before attaching it to some bogwood. This morning i took it out and all the leaves fell off! The Rhizone and roots still look fine so ive attached it to some bogwood...will it still grow without having any leaves? It did have 10 healthy leaves when i first put it in 5 days ago. Im abit confused beacause its a hardy plant and all my other plants grow well so not sure why this has happened after only a few days of floating in my tank. Great video keep up the good work!
