Yes as you say in your words: 'He suffers from being forced in a position of responsibility'. Doing that is really unfair and just puts a lot of pressure on to one person to do what you want them to do or would like them to do. In doing so your taking away their freedom of choice, autonamy and their difference/uniqeness to yours and it pressures and forcing them to do things against their will. It also brings in a lot of peer pressure from other people. And it can also potentially make them do things they don't want to or care about. Which is then forcing them to do what you would like them to do otherwise you think they are a bad person or you dislike them/hate them if they don't do what YOU want. That's the kind of mindset that is. Which is very selfish and self-centered to do. And you are not wrong with how useless/bad the rest of the students and teachers of that academia turned out... Instead of blaming Judai/Jaden why didn't they do any self reflections on how weak they themselves were? Or think of how to improve themselves? It's their own fault for relying too much on someone else. They were all too dependant on one person to save their ass*s which i think is unrealistic

It's been more than 15 years since I watched GX. Thanks for reminding me how amazing Season 3 is. Looking back, I should have watched the entire series subbed.
I think the part about Judai's story that always interested me was that after season 3, it would be easy to just leave him as a mature, stoic person who duels seriously since it would match up with how he matured after the third season. Instead those, we get episodes where this newfound sense of maturity starts to cause him some problems in his relationships with others (the tag duel tournament comes into mind) alongside his own mental health (distance from friends) The final episodes being Judai winding up in the past and meeting Yugi (a more literal starting line for Yugioh GX than Season 1) before having a low stakes (for them) duel for fun serves as a good ending to his character development: there are times where he needs to be serious and focused but vice versa there are times where Judai can just enjoy the duel and have fun. People get so focused on the "card game" aspect that they forget that there are interesting points in this anime, I would say that sometimes Yugioh gets deeper than Digimon.
5:32 To be fair, he tried to go to the Dark World alone to avoid them getting hurt. He snuck out to avoid them and keep them away from it all. They're the ones who followed
1 thing that I always fail to understand is, why is Judai blamed for the death of his "friends" to Bronn? He specifically told them to not come with him to the other dimension, they did anyway. After that he found a safe place for them and told them to stay there, they yet again didn't listen. I understand that he was irrational during this whole thing but I just don't see what was he supposed to do.
Judai is naturally a leader and his friends will follow him, hell or high water. His naivety is what makes him unfit to be a leader because he doesn’t think about his team’s strengths or weaknesses to not have them in danger. In Fred’s hideout, Asuka (Alexis) and O’Brian (Axel I think in English?) tell him to stay put while they figure out a plan and he stills decides to rush off with minimal information because there’s a slight chance that Johan (Jesse) is at the prison camp. He went out with no plan or back up in a foreign world with the knowledge that if he loses a duel, he dies. I would say more, but I’m saving that for a different video 😉 Thanks for watching!
The biggest lie was that we NEVER got to see them duel. I think it was planned for these characters to duel, but the writers decided otherwise, opting for something that made little sense. Like, seriously, GX may be another stereotypical season, but at least it had one major story arc to tell, unlike the majority of the Rush Era of Yu-Gi-Oh! (Looking at you, Go Rush).
5:15 this is only really true when they first arrived and Judai had no idea how dangerous the Dark World was - every other time he rushed ahead and did things solo, it was because he was specifically trying to protect his friends from/keep them out of danger because he now knew one loss would mean death. Obviously they went after him anyway and got captured twice but that was their own fault tbh - he was trying to do what was right and keep his friends out of the fray, even if he primary goal was rescuing Johan. He actually stormed multiple fortresses alone (despite the huge risk considering the sheer odds he'd be facing) because he wanted to search for Johan while also getting rid of all of the fiends who could put his friends in danger. #Judaididnothingwrong
It wasnt blindly. They heard about Judais childhood and how Yubel was his Spirit Animal, so they follow Jaden to keep him from going through that phase again. But in turn ended up livestock except for Syrus and Daichi who stayed behind for some isekai Coochie (W). Zane and Edo were the real top dogs of this journey.
It wasn't stupidity, it was actual concern for Judai because the influence he had on them was just this big. And by neglecting them, Judai was simply ignoring the responsibility he had as a catalyst. In a way, they tried to prove the power of friendship would solve everything, and they all died realizing that it did not work
@@bigfish5544yeah exactly judai was literally their leader just didnt know how to lead them thats why johan literally tells him hes a leader and fights for his friends thats why when hes gone judai forgets about his current friends because johan was the only friend that understood him at this point in the story

What i like is i feel there's so still a lot of mystery with Amon like could he still be alive in the dimension as a ruler? What would his family think since he's gone? Is he most likely dead? I always found it interesting and mysterious he's the only one that doesn't come back in the end. I wanted to see him duel a bit more. Great video!
If you want to view Tag Force 3 as something of a continuation of Adrian/Amon's arc if it were revealed he got revived like everyone else because in Aster/Edo's final story event it's revealed that he is trying to get enough duel energy to be able to go back to the other dimension with the hope of saving Echo where he laments to Aster "People never realize what they have... until it's gone." So just thought to share as was neat to bring up and tvtropes here: Corrupted Character Copy: Of Seto Kaiba. He, like Kaiba was adopted into a wealthy family, he's a Badass Bookworm, and he has a little brother who he wants to protect...except not really on that last one. Unlike Kaiba, who truly cared for Mokuba, Amon secretly despises Sid, his adoptive younger brother, for stifling his ambitions, being a weak and naïve child pampered by his blood parents compared to Amon's talents and hard work. Echo can be seen as a Shadow Archetype to Kisara as well, since she sacrificed herself out of love to help him obtain the ultimate monster - the difference being, of course, that Amon wanted this to happen and deliberately sacrificed her, whereas Seto was driven to villainy because Kisara was lost thanks to Akhenaden's machinations and would never desire to hurt her. Amon also generally lacks Kaiba's ego and bombastic qualities, being a much more calm, calculating schemer. It's worth noting that Amon ultimately abandons his Cloudians in favor of Exodia, the monster that caused Kaiba's most noteworthy defeat, while Kaiba, no matter how he changed or upgraded his deck, never abandoned his Blue-Eyes White Dragon. Essentially, he's Kaiba, minus all the things that make Kaiba likeable.
Fantastic video! There's one detail you missed, understandably so because GX didn't explain it well. When Yubel gave Adrian the arm, they instructed Adrian to tame Exodia then Rendezvous at Yubel's throne room. For some reason, we never get to see this conversation. Instead we get a line in the sub where Amon mentions "following Yubel's orders to the letter". Yubel explains that it was all a setup and that the plan was to corrupt Amon to the point where his soul could be consumed. This is all cut from the dub. My theory is that a bunch of Adrian/Yubel scenes were cut, which caused us to miss context.
I saw the context but decided to cut them due to time since I summarized it with Yubel’s allure and later Amon using Exodia’s power and turning on Yubel. I figured the script was getting close to being too repetitive and focused on other details. I appreciate all feedback though! It’s what helps me keep improving the videos for the community 👊🏼
i don't realy agree that jaden made any wrong decissions, he was going to save jesse or Johan and his friends tried to follow him and they were captured. jaden should not be responsible for his entire group, i understand they're friends, but everyone should be able to take care of themselves. jaden even told them to not go with him because he wanted to go alone. i don't think he's selfish, he did it to save jesse. i even belive jaden going by himself is better because he's not risking entire group at once, he's just risking himself.
The fact hes made the conscious decision to save Jesse all by himself is a selfish action. Jesse didn't ask to be saved he made the righteous decision to save everyone through his dueling by sacrificing himself to return Academy back to Earth. But what does Jaden do? He goes outta his way to rescue someone that didnt want to rescued by springing forth to a Dimension Portal that he doesnt even know where it leads without telling anybody that he's leaving (Even more selfish). Only reason his friends knew about it is cause the Ojamas saw him with Kuriboh and relayed it back to Chazz, relaying it to everyone else. Jaden then abandons his friends and morals because he was so pinfocus on Jesse. He asked a dying stranger that looks identical to Jesse if he knew where Jesse was (as if that stranger even knows a name like that). Jaden takes on a quest to go search Freeds comrades getting a map to all their potential whereabouts but his true intentions wasnt to save his comrades it was to get inkling on where Jesse could be and if he finds Jesse on this quest he'll abandon it completely, another selfish motive. When Jaden found those Ducks to ride he runs off ahead of everyone else leaving them behind & abandoning them cause he took everything upon himself without taking everyone elses prospects about it, more selfishness. As said in this video, in trying to save Johan/Jesse he endangers those around him. Unless it was for a greater good these actions would be justified but Johan busted his butt trying to save not just you but everyone in the Academy and you wanna tarnish that all for him. Is that not by definition selfish?
@@SiNKarnage well no, i belive jaden is not selfish because he tried to save jesse on his own, he put his life at risk and he chose not to include anyone else in the mission because he didn't want to risk their lives making it even harder for jaden to make it out alive which to me is the opposite of selfish. also who told you jesse doesn't want to be saved' He was very happy after jaden saved him, it's even better if jaden saved him because it's a nice thing to do and saving someone is definelty not selfish. He was asking a lot of people if they knew about jesse because he was trying to save jesse, i don't think that's a bad thing to do, maybe while someone's father was dying I agree that was not the best time to ask. about the ducks situation, he didn't even notice them being left behind, he was very focused on saving jesse. i don't think this was very selfish because like i said earlier, him avoiding others to be at risk of dying and putting only himself at risk is what i belive the opposite of selfishness. as for everyone else trying to save jesse, i understand everyone else was trying to save jesse as well, but jaden was trying to do it by himself and by doing so others wouldn't have to be at risk of dying. because of this I don't think jaden was selfish. i think what he did was okay even if it did make it harder because you can't realy see into the future and you don't know what will happen next.
@@rookiegamer1234 Jesse didn't want to be saved cause he sacrificed himself for a purpose in saving everyone else. So even if he went alone hed still be putting himself and his friends in danger all for a selfish idea of saving a person hes not sure was even alive. Its essentially gambling which also pertains to selfishness. If somebody sacrificed themselves for you you wouldn't dishonor their choice by wishing them back because you desire to be with them again would you? @@rookiegamer1234 Its Selfish cause you can tell by his actions leading to the point he became Supreme King. Be honest was he really trying to save Jesse just to save him? If so why would he go through such lengths such as neglecting those around him, demanding answers out of a dying man and making false promises he cant keep all to achieve that goal of saving an assumed dead person? Jaden trys to hide behind the guise as "just saving him" but in truth he just can't let go of Jesse. Jesse is as much an influence on Jaden than he is to his fellow colleages. That is what makes it selfish no matter how its sliced. Jaden didnt know Jesse needed saving before his duel with Yubel who was wearing Jesse's body like a shell because Jesse's soul was no longer in their. After chipping away at the Crystal Beast that was when news came out that the real Jesse soul was locked in the Rainbow Dragon. That is when the selfish act turned selfless because Jaden knows beyond a shadow of doubt Jesse has not left us and ACTUALLY needed saving because he was asked by the Crystal Beast. If Zane, Edo, Chazz and everybody elses deaths were irreversable and Jesse heard about this he never wouldve wished to be saved to begin with. Thankfully because of Jadens most selfless act in S3 Climax, fusing with Yubel instead of taking revenge out on her thereby changing Yubels heart, everybody got back to Earth safe and sound.
Episode 160 of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX should go like this. Fujiwara is revealed to be the Duel Spirit of Honest, who was previously the real Fujiwara's Spirit Partner. They didn't blame him. Axel is only annoyed that Judai went off on his own again, after he promised to stay put. Jim didn't say anything to Judai, and went after Syrus cause obviously it is dangerous for him to be alone, and Axel left for the exact same reason, which Judai is too distraught to realize (not that I blame him), and wrongly concluded those two were abandoning him when they weren't. Also, Syrus and the others had spells placed on them that was messing with their emotions and mental state, so they weren't truly themselves when they blamed Judai etc. Axel and Jim were showing concern during the duel because of how Judai was starting to act, but they never blamed him either for the way the duel turned out. It's just a terrible situation, and the worst part is Judai never finds out his friends (Syrus and the others with the spells on them) weren't themselves at the time, hence everything they said they didn't really mean.
Jaden is the first is away from being selfish he made mistakes and succumbed to the darkness, but he lost all his friends. He was trying to save his friend from a what he thought he was responsible for he is a hero
One aspect I think that should have been touched upon is how their boss monsters also reflect themselves. Adrian’s exodios is very hard to summon, but it’s very hard to deal with once it gets started. It grows stronger through aggression, and it’s immune to all monster effects your opponent can throw at them, but its power is ultimately gained through sacrifice. Its only real weakness is targeting it through an ally, the same way Echo was the key to defeating Adrian. Likewise, rainbow Neos is a very hard to summon card, made doubly so because there are likely only 1 copy of both of the fusion materials currently in existence. Its abilities are also similarly gained through sacrifice, and its equip card also has ability negating properties. One thing that shines through, however, is that its base attack is stronger than exodios’ can reach, as R. Neos was born through the friendship between Jesse and Jaden, which is stronger than echo and Adrian’s relationship could be
Great video!! An interesting argument is if it’s worse to fall to your darkness immediately when you’re faced with strong adversity; or to have held one through so much only to still turn to your darkness. For Amon, this was one of the first true chances for him to give into his darkness; if he killed his brother nothing good would’ve come from that. So now that he is in this world he can sacrifice echo and finally try to become a king
Funny enough I'm on record saying Doma/Waking the Dragons couldve been a GX Season 5 with Dartz hosting the full Light of Destruction, the one Sartorius had was a fragment, but this video makes me think Amon/Adrien could've came back hosting the full thing making a hypothetical season 5 a battle of Kings with Adrien leading the revived Kingdom of Atlantis
and his company is Garam Finance And his ace cloudian is "Eye of the Typhoon" in subbed though of course he uses....more....ace monsters and strategies later as well
I love how when Jaden reprimanded Adrian for sacrificing Echo for Exodia and sending Aster to the stars , Adrian shuts him up with one line “Is it any worse than what you did to your friends?” He’s not wrong 😃😃😃
That's different. Jaden wasn't intending to sacrifice them and felt remorse. While Adrian felt remorse for failing to revive Echo, he was willing to destroy Aster, his friends and Jesse etc to rule with Echo as his co-ruler. Everything ends up for nothing when Adrian loses to Yubel and is seen to have the wrong personality to bring the world he wishes to create.
A mess can still be a lot better and deeper than something well thought out, as comparing GX anime and manga proves. Same with Fullmetal alchemist, manga is well thought out but the 2003 adaptation is just better than it in almost every way despite having more plot holes.

@@Adamame93Exactly.
Please make more of these for every yugioh anime i live for these!!!
Long live Judai!!
Well in that season judai was stupid but so were his friends for following him Blindly

Jaden Wasn't evil. He was forced into so many duels introducing him to real emotional pain, that he lost his enjoyment of duelling. He'd had sadness prior, though never major enough to cause him to completely snap.
Evil is not born it is created. And if you really factor in everything Jaden/Judai was pressured and forced to do then ya it makes sense as to why he turned evil...
@@whitedragonzerureusu4480 Kinda like how bullies aren't born, rage creates the bully inside. Joey And Kaiba weren't initially bullies or unpleasant people, though trauma or abuse made them bullies.
@@whitedragonzerureusu4480 Plus the fact that Brron was the one forcing Jaden to sacrifice them but they still blamed Jaden when he tried to avoid that. The people he relied on turned against him when he couldn't save them
@@aceblaze2049 They weren't themselves at the time (everyone seems to keep overlooking this and blame them). Those spells placed on them (Syrus included) were messing with their emotions and mental state, which Judai never finds out. Sure they were already doubting him before they were put on them, but had they been in their right mind, they'd have realized Judai was being forced into attacking and was trying to avoid it happening, and would not have said the things they did. It's a shame nobody told Judai, so he will forever believe they really meant what they said, including Syrus.
Actually, what makes Amon a great character is that he has NO Darkness. He does what he does because he believes that he will become a great king.
I’m loving all the GX love in my feed.😊
I forgot how great of a character Amon is thanks for reminding me
If you want to view Tag Force 3 as something of a continuation of Adrian/Amon's arc if it were revealed he got revived like everyone else because in Aster/Edo's final story event it's revealed that he is trying to get enough duel energy to be able to go back to the other dimension with the hope of saving Echo where he laments to Aster "People never realize what they have... until it's gone."
So just thought to share as was neat to bring up and tvtropes here:
Corrupted Character Copy: Of Seto Kaiba.
Wonderful analysis of these two favorite characters of mine, reminds me why i loved gx so much. looking forward to more of your content.
Amon sacrificing Gecko upgraded him to “Chode” status.

Adrian Gecko had incredible skill as player but he was very ruthless. He had no problem to sacrifice pretty much everyone for his own ambitions

Sure Yubel had his body but so what, he wasnt conscious about it for all he know he was dead and was in an afterlife of some sort.
Jaden didn't know whether Jesse was dead or alive he just got news that a Portal to an unknown Dimension appeared and decides to jump in with some faith that Jesse is alive and lost, but it was all a bait to lure Jaden in and turn him into the Supreme King.
Chazz, Syrus and everyone else didnt follow Jaden to save Jesse it was to save him. After being informed about Jadens childhood backstory by the Principal and how hes linked to Yubel they immediately go to his dorm to find him gone that was when they got news about the Portal and Jaden going to it alone. They knew this was some kind of ploy by Yubel to ofc they follow him to that Dimension. Jaden become so influential to his friends and fellow colleagues he remains blind to it.
The selfless action wouldve been to wait until somebody more authoritative came through such as Seto Kaiba or some adult and not bare every responsibility for himself. But theyre children playing childrens card games, they think they know everything now.
@@SiNKarnage but you don't know if jesse wanted to be saved or not, and i belive he wanted to be saved because after jaden saved him jesse was very gratefull and once jaden come to rescue crysta lbeasts were helping jaden to save jesse. also that logic doesn't realy make sense, if people stopped helping others because they didn't ask for help like in emergencies then situation would be much worse. it's truth that jaden didn't know werther jesse was alive or not, but he still took the chance because he wanted to help his friend and because he's a good person and he tried doing it alone. even if it was a trap, jaden couldn't have known that, he just wanted to save his friend and that's a good thing. and yes it is gambling, but he was willing to take the chance because he is a good person and is not looking out for himself only, he wants others to be safe too even with his life being in risk. how is that selfish? and this is not about jaden being with jesse, this is about jaden saving jesse. jaden didn't do that just so he can hang out with jesse, he did it so he can help him and save him. jaden aknowledges that could be a trap, but then again everyone had the choice to either go or leave. they didn't have to stay, however everyone decided to go with jaden, that's their own choice, they are not children, they should be able to make thier own choices. jaden was willing to take the risk, if others were just trying to save jaden and they failed then they should've just left if they didn't want to safve jesse. jaden obviously wanted to go alone. and no, they don't think they know everything, in fact jaden is very humble. he learns a lot in season 3 and he would never underestimate his opponent. i don't understand how any of this is selfish, how is saving your friend selfish? how is jaden saving jesse dishonouring him when it literally helps both of them, it just makes no sense.
He vows to avenge his master, but is ultimately talked down by Jaden. Adrian returns from the alternate dimension, just to seek revenge on Yubel, who is within Jaden's soul. Jaden uses Honest's powers to aid in his Duel against Adrian.
Jim and Axel are also to blame for abandon Jaden and also say it's his fault
Did they blame him hell if it was Judai’s actual “friends” saving him from the supreme king they probably wouldn’t care
@user-zn4sr1ll1c yeah but they never at least acknowledged that they did anything wrong
@@fanofanime-jf6oj Exactly. Like there were there and heard how Jaden was forced to attack, how he didn't have the ability to stop even though he tried, and said it's your fault they're all dead. Brron basically grabbed Jaden's hand, put a gun in it, then aimed and pulled the trigger for Jaden, but because he was the one technically holding it they say it's Jaden's fault for shooting
Why Adrian hasn’t been added to duel links is a crime to be honest.
Wild to expect a literal kid to make adult type choices like an adult would
One aspect I think that should have been touched upon is how their boss monsters also reflect themselves.
Neos was born through the friendship between Jesse and Jaden, which is stronger than echo and Adrian’s relationship could be
but so... how does Neos relate to Judai?
@@brunopereira-gx7dp Neos is Judai’s ace card and soul depending on how you interpret that last duel
Funnily enough I think they said that between season 3-4 Jaden and Yubel were fighting the light of destruction

I love how when Jaden reprimanded Adrian for sacrificing Echo for Exodia and sending Aster to the stars , Adrian shuts him up with one line
“Is it any worse than what you did to your friends?”
He’s not wrong 😃😃😃
That's different. Jaden wasn't intending to sacrifice them and felt remorse. While Adrian felt remorse for failing to revive Echo, he was willing to destroy Aster, his friends and Jesse etc to rule with Echo as his co-ruler. Zexal, especially season 2, was on GX level of quality. Sevens has the best developed cast in the entire series, and Go Rush has a very compelling and sad plot burried under the comedy. Plus it gave us the first time the main character and the rival are in a relationship.
