The awkward part of Zarc is during the flashbacks they showed Zarc with a unique appearance but then when he finally shows it was just a draconic form of Yuya. The design of having it looking like Yuya in a different form but then saying it's not Yuya and it's Zarc who already has his own form just doesn't really feel like it fits at all. I mean they even show the outline of Zarc from the flashbacks during the intro and at least Ray has like a spirit form or something. It just feels like the Zarc we heard about is someone that we never actually got to see again and so all that build up of him from the flashbacks and intro was just a let down
@@Zombrosk. In a way I mostly think "what did people want?". Because in the flashback when he fused he was just a dragon causing destruction rather than dueling, and it still took a a lot of duelists to beat him, but I guess the idea is all he did when coming back was duel in 1 area and then lose whereas other final villains may have stuff happening with them throughout the entire season. Honestly quite a lot of final villains were disappointing. Nightshroud felt out of nowhere even though he was technically in early on, we didn't know what to make of it. Z-one was pretty confusing until we got to learn his motives which took till the end where it felt like it may've been too late. Don thousand basically lost to Vector but since Vector lost to Nash Don thousand has his powers back and sure he beats Mizar easily to show his power but he only got 2 duels. AI just felt too forced with his reasoning but I get overall it made sense and setting him up as a threat was actually really well done. Otes from Sevens felt more like a ceremonial duel since he just didn't feel like a boss, especially since we've literally only ever seen him lose every match
@@Zombrosk. The other thing is idk what they should do with him story wise. Cause in the end the incarnates just fused together again so I figure it may make more sense if we just get Zarc and Ray instead of Yuya and Zuzu. I get they're the main characters we've had this whole time, but the whole point is that they were saying Zarc and Ray are the original and Yuya and Zuzu are just a quarter of them anyway, it also means they're giving these 2 character special privilege over the other 3 quarter incarnates which doesn't seem fair since they're all equally a part of Zarc and Ray
@@Zombrosk. I guess if anything a happy ending might be where Zarc and Ray are alive but so are all 4 of each incarnates. Like maybe instead of just trying to defeat Zarc, they try to bring him back to the good boy he used to be, representing all the good aspects of the Yuboys. Since it should be Zarc himself who's evil, it should be humanity's dark influences. It's not like this darkness has to be it's own unique enemy, it can just be dealt with during the duel. Then maybe when Zarc get defeated in the final turn, a card is used which is also meant to split him apart, but instead of just splitting him into the 4 Yuboys, Zarc is also there so we get all 5 of them. Something similar to how Marik was fused with Ra and then after Ragnarok his good side was back
Zarc was just done dirty. He had an original look RIGHT THERE. He had a personality RIGHT THERE. And what did they do? Mutated Dragon Yuya and the most bland villain personality this side of the solar system. His skills and intelligence in duels were hyped up and all we got was "protect the castle" gameplay. To say I was disappointed doesn't even begin to display how I felt to that end part of Arc-V.
Yuri vs Yusho is definitely one of my favourites. It's rare enough that we see a protagonist with a father that actually gets to meet their kid but to have him actually duel as well?! The parents usually get so hyped up and in this case we actually get to see Yusho live up to it. Yusho figuring out Yuri's facedown card was super polymerization was one of the most amazing moments in the entire show and he truly lived up to his role as an entertainer. Even after that, managing to escape the vine castle that seems near impossible to get out of. It really was one of the most entertaining duels ever
The scene where raging dragon is first summoned is my absolute favorite scene in all of arc v and yugioh. And why raging dragon is my favorite card of all time.
@@megas_ol6501 I wouldn't be surprised if someone put epic chorus music to that seen and it fit with the tension so thick it could be cut with a knife. I would probably use duel of the fates because it would both fit the scene and because of the pun intended about the word duel.
The fact that Yu-Gi-Oh monsters where afraid of up to that point was just a human also really adds to the impact, and then that declaration of "there's not going to be another turn" really seals it.
Still baffles me why they didn't use Zarc's original form as the final fight. Hell, I'd be completely fine with Yuya somehow escaping that ego and has to duel him while Zarc maintains his hold on the other personalities and his original form. Could've shown Zarc freaking out as the other identities surface as the duel continues.
Vector. He quite literally steals the show whenever he is involved. He provokes both sides, his own Barian side, and Yuma’s, by injuring Alito, he induces the wrath of Gilag, who comes after him, but due to him befriending Yuma, Yuma gets involved, which allowed him to manipulate Yuma (who was without Astral’s help here) to use “Rank-up-Magic Limited Barian’s Force” to help Yuma, and in turn, convinces Yuma he is a good Barian, over time, Yuma gets several barian cards, which all came to a head with Vector revealing himself, and in such a way that emotionally hurt the protagonist, all while damaging his deck with a card that milled 5 cards for every “V” and “Barian” card, equating to 30 cards in total, as the barian and V cards were milled too. He had the bond between Yuma and Astral severed due to his plans, creating Dark Zexal, which nearly self-destructed if Yuma didn’t sever the merge. Let me remind you, Vector had Yuma dead-to-rites. Yuma only won through changing the card, (through revealing it’s true form, showing that Numeron energy is astral and barial energy, which is besides the point.)
Honestly, as much as I love Zarc and his back story, I would have liked to see him having some instabilities from the forced reunion. Similar to how Roxas from Kingdom Hearts would respond to Riku when he spoke about Sora. Since the Yu-boys were apart of him, I think pieces of their memories resonating during the duel would have done a lot of good
The fact that all of this came at the expense of the bracelet girls, who already had it rough up till now, and had nothing to do after this, kind of soils these episodes for me.
I understand that, I feel towards the end of the show the roles and characterisation of the individual counterparts of the Yu-Boys and Zu-Girls was minimised, and they ultimately didn't return either which was a bad decision in my opinion. I would've preferred they stayed separate.
Them being merged at the end makes sense. It honestly establishes both consequences and the effective rebirth of Zarc and Rei. Yuzu just needed more more time being useful on screen. Realistically speaking the XYZ arc and Fusion arc could have been longer to get her and some other characters further development. Yuri likely could have been a character to get more development and aid to the development of Zarc. Yuya could have had more close calls with his anger against leading to more development with Zarc. I get what they were trying to do conceptually with the ending but it was both rushed and had to close up many storylines. I would honestly say a longer XYZ arc where we have Yuzu acting in the fusion dimension flushing out that cast would have solved a lot of issues. Ideally that would have been a season 3 with Season 4 being fusion arc, and Yuya dealing with Zarc's rebirth fallout.
Zarc wasn't interesting because there is a massive contrast between Zarc possessing Yu-Boys and Zarc when he was revived. They feel like different characters. Zarc was potrayed as eldrich abomination when he was within Yu-Boys. You covered Raging Dragon scene, but another one really stuck with me. In Synchro Dimension arc, when all Yu-Boys were at the same place, the entire scene; dragons howling and Yu-boys chanting that they'll become was was so horrific. You could really sense that the end of the world will begin if they got too close to each other. Then Zarc was revived and he was potrayed as a pouting man-child afraid of losing? Crow was scared shitless of Berserk Yuya, but he mocked Zarc? Really weird direction they took with the character.
Yeah I feel you on that. Zarc when he was separated into the Yu-boys felt like the embodiment of power and skill. No matter the deck he had he could overwhelm and destroy an opponent in the flashiest way possible. That's what he felt like. Compare that to the actual Zarc and we got...the lamest duel I've ever seen on a final boss.
So true. Those scenes were bone-chilling, and then we get this lame-ass "I can't lose, try to all take me on in a conga line" fight. Manga did the story better imo
@@blackmark2899 The idea itself was good. Z-arc absolutely DOMINATED like he was told he would. Duelist after duelist joining the duel, he destroyed them in the end. The only problem was how he was portrayed as cocky and a man child. Berserk Yuya was epic because of the sheer amount of rage in him
LIMIT OVER ACCEL SYNCHRO! the summoning of Shooting Quasar Dragon is iconic though a lot of moments from 5Ds could probably count as it was the peak of Yu-Gi-Oh, especially the Dark Signer arc
Both watching the parasite getting burned into oblivion by Zarc's spirit and hearing Berserk Yuya say "Insects are merely insects" were absolutely peak
The fact that possessed Yuya was more intimidating than Z-arc. They had the recipe right there for how to make him badass, because they nailed all berserk Yuya moments. Hell, even controlled berserk Yuya against Yuri was nailed. The reason? Because its a stark contrast to Yuya's normal vibe, instead of playful, he's absolutely ruthless. Z-arc only gives off the vibe of a cocky op duelist. It wasn't the pure RAGE Yuya had in his berserk state, the very thing that made him so great
If I use my ideas here, I think Zarc should have been made as a major foil to Yuya. Yuya is hope, optimism and dueling to make others happy. Zarc was all those, but he was broken by a toxic and bloodlusted fanbase (let's face it, that's what they were) which caused him to turn his back on all those ideals and to only fight for the sake of winning and causing more bloodshed. I think Zarc should have had a personality more akin to a nihilist or a pessimist who hates humanity. As someone who was in a rather dark place in my past and ended up with that world view, I can say from first hand experience that someone like that would be the perfect antithesis to Yuya. In fact, we have pieces of that already. For example, when Reiji tried to appeal to Yuya by remonding him how he did the first pendulum summon, Zarc countered by saying how he was actually the one who created it, dealing a blow to Reiji. If he did that for the other concepts, say by completely vivisecting ideas such as friendship and bonds between people (one of the core tenants of Yu-Gi-Oh), hope as a concept, the idea of people being good at heart (which he can easily disprove with his own experiences) and the validity of the idea of bringing smiles to people's faces, it would reflect how pessimism and cynicism look completely invincible considering that anything you throw at it can easily be countered, like how Supreme King Z-Arc is meant to he invincible. Essentially, what Z-One did to Aporia but to a greater extent. In the Arc V manga, Genesis Omega Dragon, the final villain, was able to be an effective villain by twisting Yuya's ideal of making people happy by trapping his followers in delusions which made them happy, but also made them into empty shells. Turning the duel into a philisophical argument can work, as seen with the ceremonial duel in Vrains which ended with the idea of holding on to memories of the good times in the past (The Arrival Cyberse @Ignister) and the idea of moving on from the past to carve a path to the future (Accesscode Talker). This would justify the usage of the 4 magical cards used to defeat Z-Arc, or maybe it could have been written where a new Odd-Eyes card was created by Yuya fighting back and ripping himself out of Zarc's body by appealing to Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon and returning to the stage to spread optimism. As if there is one thing that can shatter the world-view of a cynic, it is either a slap to the face or a really well constructed counter argument. And a direct attack is both. I know this likely sounds like a fan-fic, but I think that this would have served as a great way to celebrate Yu-Gi-Oh's anniversary, which Arc V was made to do, as it shows a villain trying to destroy the very ideals that made the game what it is being defeated by those very ideals as the other characters come together.
I honestly like your idea a lot! Funny you should mention that your idea sounds like a fan fic, since I actually had an idea to write my own take on Arc-V's story. Unfortunately, this idea likely won't go anywhere anytime soon, since my knowledge of Yu-Gi-Oh is, charitably put, limited.
Zarc didn't really invoke feelings of fear compared to past villains like Zone, Malik, Bakura, Yubel, Supreme King, Godwin, etc, even though he was supposed to be the most scary out of all of them since he could use all Summoning methods.
Right especially when he freaks out at receiving damage meanwhile the original supreme king can have their board wiped and lose most of their life points and taunt their opponent for being unable to beat them in one turn, like anyone can be a huge threat when they literally have an unkillable 4K beat stick and gain life points instead of taking damage like he’s probably the worst duelist among all antagonists like literally anyone can hide behind a board like that you’d think for someone who was supposed to be the greatest duelist would actually show some skill
Think one of the big problems with Z-arc is how he was basicly just cocky dragonic Yuya. They removed the trait of what made Yuya going berserk intimidating, that pure RAGE in his voice. Z-arc was just a cocky asshat
Either pre-split Zarc was one of the most skilled duelists we've ever seen or everyone in the original dimension were absolute trash if Zarc was able to become World Champion with Odd-Eyes Dragon as his ace monster
@@romanfrancis1232 considering he was able to hear the voices of monsters, I would say he was probably the strongest duelist of his era. Especially since he did obtain the other dimensional dragons before he became the world Champion
@@MysticFactorGodo he became world champion before making his overpowered boss monster and becoming the Supreme King. Who knows what he was pulling out back then.
@@romanfrancis1232 I hope we got some kind of purified supreme king Zarc that was his original dimension boss monster that is summoned by fusing the original dimension dragons
Yeah Zarc should not have been sitting on a big-ass dragon the whole time. This man was the strongest dude in the world, he should have been STYLING on everyone, making absolute jokes of them in the most flashy and cruel ways possible, smacking them around while making it look like they had a chance only to take it away from them at the last minute. Dude was an entertainer. Evil he may be, his fight should have been entertaining! Doesn't help that his boss was just a big-ole hard to summon unaffected floodgate dude.
This whole series needed another 20 episodes and a more angry Zarc to stick the landing. Zarc's first action should be hunting down the reincarnation of the person who stopped him, and the cast stalling Zarc while trying to revive Ray and the 4 Nature cards and get through to Yuya would've made the long fight much more personable and enjoyable. I'd have loved to have seen an entire arc where the Yu-boys have to deal with the proper consequences of their actions and prove to the world AND themselves that they are more than their anger and more than just a reincarnation of Zarc. These 2 episodes proved that entire concept has a lot of merit, and it would give the Yu-boys more time to develop and understand each other and their past as Zarc, rather than just do it all in 2 duels (especially given that they'd have to deal with Yuri).
I have many fav duels throughout yugioh. But 1 that comes to mind as 1 of my favs is in yugioh gx when aster uses dreadmaster to not just decimate, but humiliate jaden to the point he goes into depression and can’t shuffle or see is cards anymore.
I personally love all of yugioh but if I had to say my favorite moment it would probably be either Zane vs Jesse/Yubel or The Dark King vs Axel. Both great duels and i wish I saw them sooner in my life
There is an issue with your first statement about Z-Arc. The merging of 4 personalities creating a solid individual makes perfect sense in this context as Z-Arc isn’t a merger of the 4 boys he is an already existing being that was split apart and was just reunited so being an independent person to the other 4 makes sense
Shun vs Sora probably my favourite duel. I also had a thought. It would have been so much more interesting if after they all merged and became ZARC, he wasn't just some villain of the weak but crazed versions of the Yuya variants fighting for control over each other for the body.
What if Yuya was truly the final villan? Changing the lore to because Zarcs spirit was separated, he could never fully come back. But the remnants still remain, forced to adhere to their nature for destruction and chaos. Thus the story becomes about Yuya being able to control that side of him but the more the other 3 remnants merge with him the more difficult it is to control himself and Yuya, with no hope left, embraces the darkness.
Yugioh arc 5 was such a surprisingly good show I actually seriously enjoyed it and yuya and yuta are two of my favorite protagonists next to Jaden and yugi.
I did really enjoy Yuya and Yuta as characters, they had a great dynamic and their interactions were interesting, similar to how Yugi and the Pharaoh's dynamic worked but different. I also really liked Yuta's monsters especially his ace monster dark rebellion xyz dragon.
@@k0v4n0v4 Ren was fine in season 1. He did the job he was supposed to do and at least had a connection with Kai that made him work. Plus he was a threat for way longer than Zarc.
It really shows that Zarc is so wrapped in his darkness that he’s forgotten why he became that way in the first place. And thus is a hollow shell that seeks destruction as his purpose.
@@TheJaredPunch Darkness can erase one's identity to overwrite oneself as an agent of destruction. Even if one had delved into dark with good intentions.
That Raging Dragon scene is one of the best in Arc-V. It also helps set the stage for that fateful Yuri vs Yuya duel, just as much as Yusho vs Yuri does. Zarc onwards felt like a bit of a rushed dissapointment, like ffs they couldn't have given a unique design and not made him a man child? My favorite yugioh scenes in general are all actually from Zexal, being III vs Yuma #1, Kaito vs Mizael (Moon duel) and the Astral vs Yuma duel. They were so emotionally charged, and as much as people find Yuma annoying, I feel Zexal did a good job of making you attached to the actually good characters
The dark zexal duel which is episode 98 although the duel starts a few episodes before this episode. It’s my favorite episode of zexal as it shows the breaking point of two kind hearted characters and it’s fantastic
One of the few well written parts of the Fusion Dimension arc, Tho it is still really annoying that the girls didn't get to do anything afterwards. They could've made an interesting story, but instead they chose all the lazy options.
I feel like Zarc's design should have been an ungodly mashup of all four of the Yu boys, with his personality reflecting each of them in turn. Oh, and it'd help if his title of Supreme King actually *meant* anything, and if he did more than just go on a berserk rampage demanding a Duel.
I feel like if they made Zarc someone who is the embodiment of hopelessness and Hatred for humanity, it would have been better, a villain that is angry to be back for he was in peace not existing, only to be brought back to see everything horrible humans have done to each other once again, triggering his hatred for humans once again and jumpstarting his plan of murder-suicide to erase everything, but as the fight progresses the friends Yuya made start showing Zarc not all of humanity is bad and as he wavers the four souls inside him start waking up again, reclaiming their self identity and remembering their individual dreams and personalities. First Yugo for he is the one with the strongest will and personality, getting angry that everyone is butchering his name on purpose, second is Yuto throughout Shun's words of encouragement and kindness, remembering his desire to free the people of heartland of oppression, but for some reason Yuya refuses to come out, saying he won't leave without Yuri, but Yuri wants to be there, one with his other self, Yuya hasn’t forgiven him for what he has done, but he would be a hypocrite to leave one person to die when he believes everyone deserves to live and smile, it ends with Yuri wanting to find out who he truly is other than just a part of Zarc, and when he’s done with his self discovery, he will challenge Yuya for a rematch, both leave together and Zarc is finally completely weakened, the Supreme King Dragon loses it’s effect fully and attack drops to 0, allowing for Yuya to do the final blow with Hip Hippo. The final few episodes then is an epilogue and a tournament, with the finalists being Yuya and Yuto, who never had a true duel against each other.
It's a shame. Arc-V was such an interesting premise, but it really just had too large of a scope for it to handle. They spent such a long time in the Synchro Dimension, which normally wouldn't be a bad thing, but as a result of Konami wanting to move on to VRAINS, everything after the Synchro Dimension felt extremely rushed and poorly written.
Yuri honestly felt like the true antagonist who needed a better redemption then what he got honestly, he should have been getting some redeeming qualities from the start of the synchro arc to the start of the fusion where he should have been the main focus of that honestly they really just did him bad and the freaking people who write a rewrite of the Yu-Gi-Oh! arc five did not help because the anime mistake
I watched the clip of Revolver summoning Borreload Savage dragon for the first time against Windy on repeat several times. Actual chills as cringe as it sounds.
This is the single best overkill moment in Yu-Gi-Oh. In Japanese, dub butchered it. This tops the infamous Berserker Soul overkill for me. As for favorite moment in Yu-Gi-Oh. Soulburner beating Revolver. That whole Duel is PEAK, and that finale is perfect.
I think it would’ve been more entertaining if Zarc wasn’t trying to reform his body, but he was a spirit influencing the actions of His counterparts. Like a devil on the shoulder type thing. Nobody knows what it really is but there’s this voice that all four Yu boys hear that’s trying to drive them insane so that they can Commit vengeance on all of existence for Ruining something as pure and as great as Dueltaining with their maliciousness. That could’ve made this duel a bit better cause alongside yuto, there would be a second voice trying to convince Yuya to just let go. It also would’ve been a cool visual to see Yuya making the final move in synch with the ghost of Zarc and a Crazed Yuto. Zarc’s character would’ve been better if he was more focused around A different cause, say Vengeance. He Wanted to be one A dueltainer to bring light and happiness to the world, but even after all his effort, all the crowd wanted was Violence. He found that Trying to live in the light is pointless and the only place where there can be truth is darkness. He doesn’t believe any of the people of the four dimensions deserve saving, which would reflect onto the personalities of his four counterparts, and also directly contrast Ray, with Ray being Hope and Zarc being Despair. Then the final duel could’ve been a faint tag team of the Four Yu boys after Zarc had corrupted them, with Zarc maybe appearing in the middle to summon his supreme king Z-Arc. And I think In the end, what would save the world would be the Yu boys convincing Zarc that he still has hope, as they are him but they still retain their own hope. I think it definitely would’ve made for a better ending, maybe with Zarc and Rat present to watch the last duel and all the dimensional counterparts becoming like a big family……. Did I just accidentally Write a fanfic?
Y'know, there is always something truly badass about a character who is able to make holographic, emotionless bugs feel true fear. What's interesting is that the Yu-Boys show no sign any true evil. "Oh but what about Yuri?"- tell me this; would you remain sane after being tortured in a lab, isolated because you're amazing at dueling (and not a pretty girl) and raised in an academy solely built for multiversal domination? So the fact that Zarc is pure evil doesn't make sense. What DID make sense was seeing three girls our protagonists have been searching AGES for are now mind controlled by a perverted mad scientist, AND OUR PROTAGONIST GOES FRICKING BALISTIC. It just made sense that the hidden frustration of Zarc combined with the rage of seeing innocent girls and close friends being turned into puppets, would absolutely bring out the worst of those two. Moving onto the personality of Zarc himself, it also didn't make sense. Because there was nothing there. It was just; "DEATH. DIE. SUFFER!!!!" there was no Zarc. Only Z-ARC. It would've been interesting to see his passion for the Duel from Yugo, his ferocious and almost cool demeanor from Yuto, his entertaining and near charismatic joy from Yuya, but still keeping that twisted excitement seeing his opponent hit the floor and releasing that pent up frustration he has kept for basically YEARS.
If it wasn't a episode with Shay Or Declan this is easily the best one. The only other episode that get this is the first duel with Iggy after he told yuya to fall into darkness and got humbled hard.
Firstly, sorry for the long rant ahead, but I want to clear some misconceptions some people seem to have. The video was good, but I think a lot of people misunderstand Z-Arc as a character and that is especially true if you watch the dub, rather than the sub. Z-Arc's character can be summarized in his backstory. A really talented and pure duelist, who was dueling for the enjoyment and entertainment of others, but because of the technology Arc V has, the opponents could get hurt in a duel and people saw that as entertainment, continuing to demand more extreme and more brutal duels from him. Because of his position as entertainer, he decided to oblige, turning him into more sadistic and twisted person as time went on till he started caring only about winning and the complete destruction of his opponents, where it reached the point that he decided that for him to give the ultimate entertainment to people would be to destroy them, just like they had always demanded him to do. He is quite literally a representation of those talented people or influencers that lose their way, being crushed by the demands and expectations of the audience, so in a sense, he is the evil they created. When we see Yuya going berserk it is not the anger that showcases Z-Arc's influence and character, but rather the fact he get's hyper fixated on winning in the most brutal, overkill way possible, uncaring for the consequences and that is best shown during Yuya's duel against Yuri. During the whole duel Yuya struggles in a philosophical fight where he is struggling to uphold his father's ideals, while facing Yuri's ideology of winning is everything and ultimately Yuya has to let go of his ideology to overcome Yuri, so as he won the actual duel, he lost the ideological battle, declaring that he won and from now on will continue to win as the others wanted him to, leading to his transformation into his former self. Z-Arc acts so differently, compared to berserk Yuya, because at the end of the day, the rage Yuya feels is his own, it's his actions during those times that are influenced by Zarc. When Z-Arc returns you can clearly see that he is exactly what he was explained to be. Extremely confident in his own ability, believing he is absolutely unbeatable because of his history, focused on entertaining duels, just like Yuya, but entertaining in a sense completely destroying his opponents, because that's what he was led to believe. That's why he always talk down to others and you don't really see him get angry like that, because he doesn't believe that his opponents pose enough challenge for him to get worked over. In conclusion I think Z-Arc was really good villain, that explored a side that no other villain in Yugioh touched, but the way they dealt with him and the way the series as a whole ended left a sour taste in the mouths of many.
You make a fair point, in my opinion there was definitely a great idea there I just don't feel that it was executed as well as it could've been. Especially since some main Yu-Gi-Oh! Villains tend to be quite generic, which I don't mind but it's nicer to have the final villain of the series have some depth to their character. For example I found Zorc and Don thousand to be pretty similar just simply evil characters, but I find a character like Z-One much more interesting as he has a pretty justified reason to act the way he does, and it's much more interesting to me when a villain believes they're doing the right thing. I think they tried to do something like this but ultimately fell short although conceptually it was a very good idea.
@@Zombrosk. Indeed, for me the whole Arc V could be summarized as great ideas with bad executions. For me personally, Z-Arc was a great villain conceptually and given more time and better send off he could have been incredibly iconic, but we've got what we've got. What made him great villain for me was that at the end of the day he was just human who became a monster, trying to fulfill the needs of others and I gotta give them props for trying it, if nothing else. Also I totally agree with your point on Yugioh villains as a whole and that's why I appreciate when they try to build them as characters like the aforementioned Z-One, Z-Arc and Ai from Vrains, because even if they fail, it still makes them more interesting than if they just made them basic as f and call it a day.
@@n.k.central8279 I was referencing lines from the sub in this video but maybe the translation isn’t perfect so some might be slightly off. Like “there won’t be a next turn” is a sub line In the dub it’s “there is no next turn” Also I didn’t re watch it to check but I don’t think the doctor says “you’re gonna die where you stand” in the dub because the censorship probably wouldn’t let that slide. But yes 100% I don’t think the dub does it justice unfortunately.
@Zombrosk. it could be that, i had assumed it was the dubbed version because of your use of Shun's dubbed name Shay , and because i don't recall Yuya/Zarc saying im not one of you at all in the subbed versions but it could just be a translation difference. In general, though, i enjoyed the video regardless, and it's nice to see more content expressing the good moments of arc v.
@@n.k.central8279 Oh right yeah I think it's just easier to use the dub names for pronunciation 😂 But thanks I appreciate the support 👍 and I'll be making more videos like this soon
Arc V was a great show and had so much potential and alot of setup...until we got to the Synchro Arc. There it all went down the drain aside from a few good moments. About Zarcs dragonic design: the studio that did Yugioh had ALOT of issue during this time. Almost no communication between the higher ups and the animators and storyboarders. One of the animators for the show wrote on twitter back then that they had no information what Zarcs face looked like. They only had his hair like in the flashback and that was it. She said because of that they had to make this dragonic Yuya as Zarc.
For me it's always interesting when the Mc against all odds back to the wall no standard out gives into the suffering the pain the unbridled rage and let's it subsume him atem dark jaiden supreme king the dark parts of the yuya the dark parts of zexal protag dark vrains protagonist and all the rest
It does though. Damn near every single raidraptor duel was absolutely amazing. Yuyas berserk duels went hard, the synchro arc and the first tournament finale were peak arcs on top of it. And several of the decks were just absolute fun to watch. That said, Yuyas acting kinda annoyed me, The synchro arc being the end of the bracelet girls having any relevance or agency in the series sucked, and the absolute travesty of the runup to the ending was the most disrespected I have ever felt watching a yugioh anime. The series was crazy highs and lows, and sadly ended with more lows than highs thanks to that last (z)arc.
@@SupremeKingZA-RC-EVE I was fine with the "evil entertainer" aspect of it, but for whatever reason, they went with the "sits on big boss monster" duelist, which honestly just didn't do it for me.
I think Zarc would be better if he killed the people he beat in the final duel in a very yugioh fashion like brutalise them or just blow them up and have them reappear in a later episode after they get off screened
I agree that i wished we saw nore emotion in zarc i disagree he didnt live up to the hype as he deafeated 13 legendary duelists in a row which emphasized his extensive power
Honestly Arc V is my second favorite yugioh series, I especially liked the concept of the 4 different dimensions! But I also agree that the ending was quite a bit of a let down :(
@@Ocelot56 I get that, lots of good ideas but the ending didn’t quite get there, but like I’ve seen people say it’s still a better ending than the manga… I haven’t read it all but turns out that Yuzu is actually Yuya’s mother and Yusho’s wife!?
the raging dragon duel was really bad. he just beat 2 people that were being brainwashed by NTR professor's worms. and after the duel, they were still brainwashed, and they just ran away. Yuya got real mad, but who really cares? the peak was the first arc, only because they failed to execute on everything that came after
Really, Zarc was nothing more than an evil manipulating his counterparts from the shadows. Yuya and everyone else are their own individuals. Zarc and Ray too. That’s how I see it. All of that aside, Yuya’s struggle against Zarc, up until the final battle was the thing that kept Yuya’s character interesting to me. IMO, I could have forgiven Arc V’s bad ending if Yuya had been the one to fight Zarc instead. That’s all that I needed. Ray defeating Zarc was the VERY LAST thing I wanted because I wanted Zarc to not be defeated the same way. Hopefully, Duel Links will change things up when the time comes for Zarc to be in Duel Links.
Honestly, I never watched this generation. The fact that the main character was a literal clown with circus themed performapal monsters added together with the fact that it introduced pendulum summoning, a truly game breaking mechanic AND that he just basically main-charactered it into existence exlusively for him made me give up on it after the first few episodes. But seing this, I get the feeling I missed out on some good stuff. Kinda reminds me of Jaden when he turned evil for a bit. Big contrast, eventually resulting in a more mature character
imagine Zarc being angry ON SCREEN after being revived.
Crazy talk
The awkward part of Zarc is during the flashbacks they showed Zarc with a unique appearance but then when he finally shows it was just a draconic form of Yuya. The design of having it looking like Yuya in a different form but then saying it's not Yuya and it's Zarc who already has his own form just doesn't really feel like it fits at all. I mean they even show the outline of Zarc from the flashbacks during the intro and at least Ray has like a spirit form or something. It just feels like the Zarc we heard about is someone that we never actually got to see again and so all that build up of him from the flashbacks and intro was just a let down
Part of the reason Zarc is disappointing was being built up for so long then not meeting expectations
Something similar to how Marik was fused with Ra and then after Ragnarok his good side was back
@Sonadourge well the manga ending was quite the uno flip paradox ass-pull.
"Your father was a clown" Joeri is such a fucking troll and I love him so much for it
I expected Berzerk Yuya to be a taste of what Zarc could do...

It’s such a cool moment
When the actual monsters/duel spirits were terrified of what was coming.
@hydrasfang you all are acting like mighty beasts but insects are still INSECTS! or something along those lines lol
@@megas_ol6501 I wouldn't be surprised if someone put epic chorus music to that seen and it fit with the tension so thick it could be cut with a knife. I would probably use duel of the fates because it would both fit the scene and because of the pun intended about the word duel.
Seriously, raging dragon had more hype and shows more rage than anything zarc ever did
The animation for these episodes were so crispy too
@@thatoneguylegit9219 definitely
Fr, Vector is peak villain.
Honestly, as much as I love Zarc and his back story, I would have liked to see him having some instabilities from the forced reunion. Similar to how Roxas from Kingdom Hearts would respond to Riku when he spoke about Sora. Since the Yu-boys were apart of him, I think pieces of their memories resonating during the duel would have done a lot of good
That’s a really good idea it would make perfect sense for that to be the case
Selina and Yuzu were treated fine Rin wasn’t terrible because she had flashbacks and I forgot Lulu existed
Berserk Yuya was epic because of the sheer amount of rage in him
I love this moment it was like Atem Berserker Soul moment
Draw! Monster card!
LIMIT OVER ACCEL SYNCHRO! the summoning of Shooting Quasar Dragon is iconic
though a lot of moments from 5Ds could probably count as it was the peak of Yu-Gi-Oh, especially the Dark Signer arc
@@bonner07 Yeah I don’t think Zarc was an intimidating villain at all
Think one of the big problems with Z-arc is how he was basicly just cocky dragonic Yuya. They removed the trait of what made Yuya going berserk intimidating, that pure RAGE in his voice. Z-arc was just a cocky asshat
Zarc really was a guy who didn’t have anything but his dragons, and his title as the World Duel Champion

"ODD EYES RAGING DRAGON DIRECT ATTACK!!!" That hits is hard every time
leo clutching it out against the aporia was one of my favs
Those 2 episodes were absolute HEAT. Fucking HYPE. Yuya going ape shit just hits so hard.
Real talk, I think the arc-v manga was FAR better. The anime ending was disappointing, but at least the manga did something interesting.
I think if Zarc got the Yami Marik treatment he would have been so so good
Yugioh arc 5 was such a surprisingly good show I actually seriously enjoyed it and yuya and yuta are two of my favorite protagonists next to Jaden and yugi.

That Raging Dragon scene is one of the best in Arc-V. It also helps set the stage for that fateful Yuri vs Yuya duel, just as much as Yusho vs Yuri does. Tho it is still really annoying that the girls didn't get to do anything afterwards.
In terms of Yuya having to hold back Zarc's influence I liked Yuya vs Yuri best
Idc what anyone says.
"THERE IS NO NEXT TURN!" is a point against anyone who says "sub over dub."
Zarc was just vector from zexal, but without the mind games he built over several episodes
If it wasn't a episode with Shay Or Declan this is easily the best one. The only other episode that get this is the first duel with Iggy after he told yuya to fall into darkness and got humbled hard.
Do u have any ideas on videos about Johan/Jesse from yugioh GX?
this video is a resume of episode 124.
I like the breakdown, but imo this scene was way more impactful and done way better in the subbed version of the series.
@@n.k.central8279 I was referencing lines from the sub in this video but maybe the translation isn’t perfect so some might be slightly off.
Like “there won’t be a next turn” is a sub line
In the dub it’s “there is no next turn”
Also I didn’t re watch it to check but I don’t think the doctor says “you’re gonna die where you stand” in the dub because the censorship probably wouldn’t let that slide.
@@n.k.central8279 Oh right yeah I think it's just easier to use the dub names for pronunciation 😂
But thanks I appreciate the support 👍 and I'll be making more videos like this soon
TLDR: yuya plz put down the gun asldkfll
Yugioh Arc-v has really high highs and really low lows
-The biggest yugioh Arc-v glazer
@@vla1ne I liked Z-arc as a villain but I didn’t like what they did with him I would’ve liked if he had more buildup and remained pure evil
@@SupremeKingZA-RC-EVE I was fine with the "evil entertainer" aspect of it, but for whatever reason, they went with the "sits on big boss monster" duelist, which honestly just didn't do it for me.
*THERE WON'T BE A NEXT TURN!*
They should've made zarc a Sukuna level villain 😔
i loved Arc V it had all the tools to be the very best....but flopped hard...like...how?!!
The ending was mid especially coming off from the ending of Zexal.
I say that it had the best open ending next to GX and 5Ds
Arc v is the worst ending in all of yugioh. Even sevenz is better@@SlickDraco
@@HyperFire16 you to read what I said they come back with a different answer before I got punch you forever assuming I was talking about arc v
@@SlickDraco 🥱
It wouldve been cool if we could play parasites to be honest.
I think Zarc would be better if he killed the people he beat in the final duel in a very yugioh fashion like brutalise them or just blow them up and have them reappear in a later episode after they get off screened
Make a Zexal video pls :D
Glad to see other people liking zexal:)
I plan to make one about a zexal character for sure, not sure who yet
I agree that i wished we saw nore emotion in zarc i disagree he didnt live up to the hype as he deafeated 13 legendary duelists in a row which emphasized his extensive power
Honestly Arc V is my second favorite yugioh series, I especially liked the concept of the 4 different dimensions! But I also agree that the ending was quite a bit of a let down :(
@@Ocelot56 I get that, lots of good ideas but the ending didn’t quite get there, but like I’ve seen people say it’s still a better ending than the manga…
I haven’t read it all but turns out that Yuzu is actually Yuya’s mother and Yusho’s wife!?
@@Zombrosk.Yeah when i first read that it was such a mindfuck while at the same time being weird as hell and intriguing
the raging dragon duel was really bad. he just beat 2 people that were being brainwashed by NTR professor's worms. and after the duel, they were still brainwashed, and they just ran away.
Nah you didnt miss much. Its pretty solid until they start dimension hopping where it starts to drag HARD. This scene was a pearl in a pile of slop
I think only the classic series and 5D's had a somewhat decent ending.
@@petergohan That’s fair, personally the original series has my favourite ending
👍
Arc V was fucking horrible and insufferable. An absolute slog to get through.
yuto, not yuta, but the video is good anyway
I like arc V I just think it dragged on for waaaaay to long
The manga should of been the basis of the show the manga is so much better
Arc v was cool till they revealed the final boss
eew dub watcher
Bro the dub was just better
Dawg it’s a children’s TV show get over yourself
I never liked arc v
