  • Lately all you hear about Argentina is their economic problems and inflation. But don't be fooled, there's still plenty of wealth in this country. Neighborhoods in Buenos Aires like Recoleta, Palermo and Belgrano are home to million dollar apartments. But the wealthiest of all is said to be San Isidro, which in order to reach, you have to take a train north of the city. On the last day of my return visit to the country, I decided I would go and look for the high life, and chase a bit of Argentin'a recent history along the way.
Thankfully I found some new friends to help me celebrate afterward.

Even though I have no Argentinian ancestry or any real links to the country, for me it'll always be a second home. Or at least as close as I have to that, with the erratic life that I lead. It's the one country I understand almost as well as my own, and it was a great time being back there last December.
We didn't get to everything on this trip -- far from it. But I'll be back, sooner rather than later. Nos vemos, mis amigos.
Oh and if you're interested in another charming American who's currently dropping videos from Argentina, check out my friend Ace Live:

The subtle ambient noise, the narration, the cutaways to paved sidewalks, street signs and architecture, the spontaneous chats with locals, the silence in the metro, the emotion.. they all collapse into a genius, almost visceral story about the human race and passage of time. I like your style Dude...and your channel name. Have watched a bunch of your African adventures then Jamaica and now Argentina...just subscribed. Although the Africa vids were more exotic and chaotic it seemed like the focus was always finding some home brew while life happened around that mission. The Argentina travels have more substance while still achieving - rubbing shoulders with the locals- which you do very well in any country. Hope this lasts for more than 6 months.

I see some beautiful homes in San Isidro, it is certainly worth the transportation they have in Argentina. Now you've got me thinking that I could live aboard a sailboat in the port of San Isidro, since I'm noticing the weather is the best, while I freeze here in Oregon.

The train trip was cool. The country looks pretty modern to me.
