I confess that l feel most Lexus buyers are not that excited about 0-60 times like automotive enthusiasts on this page. Quality, comfort, stability and nimble handling is what we looked for in our past and current Lexus cars. With a cop at every corner looking to fleece you, speed becomes a luxury rarely enjoyed.😊
driving efficiently(low emissions, high miles per gallon , car longveity and low maintenance sort of mixed into it, ) is like endurance racing , avoiding need for pitstops etc, needing to get places on time but doing so efficiently (or whatever speed you want , if you dont care as much about efficiency). driving efficiently is speeding up especially on more downhill-ish roads at optimal fuel level and engine RPM(RotationPerSecond), steering and braking minimally but smoothly. optimal efficiency for toyota 2.4 inline 4 is 2/3 pedal down in 2k-3k rpm, cvt hybrid maintain constant rpm. not sure whats best to do this in: sport mode, fuel level is more, in eco mode its less. use EV mode if optimal combustion level would speed car too much (often, if car isnt letting you do that without the EV mode, it wont let you us EV mode.) use it a bit from a stop for smooth acceleration then when car is rolling use combustion then maybe use it a bit more. smooth acceleration is part of putting less weight on tires at a moment because: consider tire wear dust emissions and how much it cost to replace tires (most people are becoming increasingly even poorer than they already are and you can invest money into bigger money)like those "xenoestrogen endocrine disputing forever chemicals micro plastics" etc. apply less weight on tires and you'll allow more of that weight handling ability to be used for having more grip for endurance-race-pitstop-avoiding momentum preservation driving fun in the name of efficiency. being able to feel how close car is to its grip limit is good for this goal, similar to the lotus-car-enjoyers ideal. this type of driving fun is most safe because its nto as fast as possible but does make you rather aware of driving environment instead of being focused mostly on music/radio/daydreaming/texting, etc youtubes think flight, julian edgar, etc have videos on improving aerodynamic efficiency of his car.can add anti sway bar , better suspension etc "handling mods" for more momentum around turns, but some of it can make the ride bumpier, louder, etc.
It’s not that people want to go 0-60 in 2 seconds all the time, it’s that you have to wind up a 4 cylinder before it will even get out of its own way. 6 cylinders are effortlessly smooth and powerful. It makes a much more luxurious sedan. I make an exception for turbos, which I like, but they’re certainly not ever going to be described as smooth. I’d put them in sport sedans, BMWs etc.
@@mervinprone Yeah, supercharging seems like the more obvious choice but there’s arguments to be made that the parasitic draw at the lower RPMs may negate the linear response which is desirable from superchargers.
The average age for a Lexus buyer reported in 2018 by CarMax was 44 and 42 for Toyota. It is true they do not care about performance. I love cars I have been to nascar events and plan to go to the 24 hours of Daytona next year and see Indycar for the first time in my life. Yes we make our voices heard on the internet but when the numbers are shown, we are not the ones buying the cars. It is hard to say but us automotive enthusiasts need to let go of 0-60 times and other performance aspects of cars. Our days are not that long left for NA cars. Thx for the update. I have a 2021 es300h and love it except for the lack of trunk space. I'm looking to replace it with the NX350h. Just wondering if that model is going to have a makeover next year? any thoughts.
Do not get the NX. It’s not worth the money. The Mazda CX50 will give you the same or more for much less money and takes regular gas. RX>CX50>Forester>RDX>NX
The current V6 is already overpowering the front wheels. Putting any more power to the front wheels is pointless. Remember, ES is bacon wrapped Camry, that means we are stuck with FWD. unless full electrification happens …
Heck yeah. The ES is too good to cancel. Like the Camry, the ES is probably going to be a heavily updated version of the current one. But with the Camry so good, the ES must have to be so much better in every way…🤔 It’s Lexus so they’ll do it right.🤞
given that Toyota Camry had an increase of 24hp from fourth gen to fifth gen (208 vs 232) I assume that next gen for the ES, current 215+24=239hp, not too bad. Horse power for the Sienna, RX, NX with fifth gen will have 246+24=270hp maximum. Next gen RAV4 hybrid will have 219+24=243 and RAV4 prime be 302+24=326hp. If the RAV4 hybrid is the standard powertrain in the RAV4 lineup, it will below everybody else out of the water and be game over for all of them.
now that i think about it, es looking thing was teased as ev before right? Maybe it is that one. Also that fancy Direct 4 system revealed three years ago now where it can be front wheel drive, rear wheel drive and four wheel drive all at the same time with the switch of the dial may be used. There was an SUV in that promotion IIRC🧐🧐. Is this the Lexus EV three-row?? Anyway you slice it everything that was teased the last few years, the puzzle pieces are all coming together now and i am so excited cannot wait😊😊😊
I drove the new Camry and the ES and I am sorry but the Lexus was just perfection personified for comfort and luxury, the new Camry was awesome though and was way better than the Honda Accord, but still the Lexus was just a masterclass, idk why you are saying you get a lexus when you buy the Camry that is so wrong lol
You may have mentioned it, however it appears Lexus is linking their number designation to their 0-60mph time rather then the Power HP. Its weird to me when they have used the 500 designation for everything between 350 to 470hp. There there is the 550 and 600 designation for the GX and LX which don't align again
I currently drive a 2019 LS500 and, despite not having the best infotainment system, I love everything else about it; however, I am now highly interested in driving an all electric car. Recently, I have been considering the all-electric BMW 7 Series. My favorite thing about it is that it is an all-electric car that's got all the features of a gasoline-powered vehicle. If the ES electric model materializes and Lexus does not sacrifice features and craftsmanship, like Mercedes Benz has, I might seriously consider it. Great estimations and video.
Is there any slight chance that we could see the Lexus Quad Motor "Direct 4" AWD system in the ES 500e or even in the hybrid? Or will they keep that for their SUV/Crossovers only and just have the tri/duo motor AWDe system that we see in a lot of hybrid cars as an option
I have an IS300h, drove an ES300h recently and really didn't like it, boat like handling and felt very sluggish, can't believe they thought IS300h buyers would move over to ES300h. However, ES350h with better handling, now we're talking!
Es is far bigger than an Is. We have an ES and I think you exaggerate a lot. The Es has hood handling, but is not a sportscar...or sportsedan. It is a very comfortable cruiser.
You read the news yesterday that Toyota posters the best ever fuscak year 2023 in the history of all Japanese companies? About 5.3 Billion USD. Total dominance and we expect them to even do better during 2024. Hybrids rule...
2026 Lexus ES needs a smoother suspension because USA roads are full of potholes. Lexus suspension has traditionally been too jumpy/hoppy. Lexus needs a suspension feel more similar to Cadillac for rough pavement.
Hard pass for this “upgrade.” I prefer the naturally aspirated six over the hybrid for sure. A better upgrade would be to include a six speed manual transmission option or to add an AWD option for the classic and proven six cylinder engine.
Kinda bummed there wont be a 550h+ (V6) hybrid. The V6 sound nice! Unlike the Germans, I don’t know why Lexus always creates these one-off powertrains (550h+, multi-stage 500h V6 hybrid, V35 in only one sedan) and not spread them throughout the rest of the lineup for consistency and simplicity.
Hear me out. UX-F - it'll be based on GR-Corolla. AWD, 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic(from GR-Yaris). Maybe add electric motor for extra kick. That'd be pretty sweet.
Kirk - At what point in time do you think the Kentucky plant will cease producing the ES 350 V-6 in early 2025 ? You mentioned that ES-350 production assemblers would be assigned new tasks starting in Feb 2025 . Could there be a possible gap in actual production of the ES 350 between the 2024 (Kentucky) & 2025 (Japan) models.
2:16 come on Lexus… give us the ES500h… put that 2.4T-H AWD in that sedan. U know u want to. 370hp in a Lexus sedan. Ur looking at 0-100 in the mid5s easy. Heck, the RX500h is doing it in 6sec, n thats a 4900lb box.
I have a 2023 ES300h Ultra Luxury trim and she is a dream. Good luck getting a new 2026 one, unless you get on a list, they are assembled in Kentucky (non-union shop), and pay a deposit (refundable).
@@KirkKreifels This will definitely limit accessibility to Texas. Texas is a closed system and the four surrounding states for Toyotas. Dealers have to obtain them from the Wholesaler, not Toyota Motors directly. I am not sure about Lexus; however, if they are going to be imported through Los Angeles they will stay mostly on the West Coast. So, we Texas folks are screwed for obtaining any Japanese-made vehicle. Why, well I discussed obtaining a 2023 RX350h or NX350h last year (February 2023) and seven Lexus dealers in Texas told me they wanted a refundable deposit ($2,000), but could not guarantee what I wanted, and said 12 to 15 months wait. I tried to obtain a Venza limited as well and the same story applied and went through the largest dealer in the Houston Area. He could not deliver either.
I am currently leasing a 2021 ES350 and my it ends in a couple months. I was really hoping for the redesign to come in for the 2025 model year. I am going to miss the NA V6.
Why isn’t the 8th gen ES coming out later this year for 2025 model? Seems like 7th gen will last for 1 year longer (2019-2025) than the 6th gen did (2013-2018) if 8th gen doesn’t start until 2026 model year.
An ES hybrid with the 2.4 hybrid powertrain will be awesome and if it drives well enough, I'll consider buying one, which would be the first time I'll consider or even recommend a Lexus in my entire life.
If it was rear wheel drive I would be down to buy one. I have had two GS cars and currently drive the last generation GS. I like to drive my car in the twisty bits, front wheel cars are not fun in my opinion.
It looks like the latest ES will be better than the 2025 Camry but will not be as luxurious as the 2025 Crown Sedan (2025 RWD Crown which is specifically for the Japanese and Chinese markets) although it could be said that the ES is in the same class as the BMW 5 Series or E-Class, but in Japan it's even a Toyota grub for against the German car instead with the Crown sedan RWD
@@rahimi4762 no , actually in lexus lineup there is no rival with c-class, this is not the size matters tbh, even if there is a rivel for them then the IS series is the one will choosen
I would be more surprised if Lexus does not replace the LS with an EV full size luxury sedan as a direct replacement as they are most committed to offering the most sedans
My guess was towards the same powertrain options as the Rx. so a 350 , 350h & 500h (For F sport models only) which makes sense, however considering the crown platinum is not selling at (54 k $) Lexus might have pulled the plug on the idea of an ES 500h priced at atleast 64 k$...I want to see what the power output figures would be on the Es 350h it might be a hit or miss for Lexus.
haha, no, it will still be a crappy FWD platform with macpherson struts in front and stamped steel rear suspension. An absolute joke of a car in the lineup of a manufacturer who prided itself on never cutting corners. 15 year old IS, GS replaced with a poshy Camry, and the LS being absolutely ignored. Thats the sedan line of Lexus nowadays. They deserve no attention whatsoever.
Trouble with the new Camry is lack of color choice on the interior. The exterior refresh is welcome, but if Camry wants to compete with the new or old ES then more color options. Cannot abide with black or gray or black with red choice. What about a brown or creme or beige or saddle?
good, but i really hope and pray they bring back some kind of trackpad/touchpad or wheel for controlling the main screen, my arm gets so tired when im fiddling around with it

An all in one LS, GS, ES replacement. It will need to be good with many options.
the current one is remarkable car
Thx for the update. I have a 2021 es300h and love it except for the lack of trunk space. I'm looking to replace it with the NX350h. Just wondering if that model is going to have a makeover next year? any thoughts.
Do not get the NX. It’s not worth the money. The Mazda CX50 will give you the same or more for much less money and takes regular gas. RX>CX50>Forester>RDX>NX
😂😂 I'm done with Lexus, I'm completely satisfied with my 24 NX 350 FSPORT.
Kirk: New ES on the way!!
Take my money 🤑🤑
“500” automatically means 400 hp or more. From what I see.
But for the love of God, where are the new F cars?
Plus back in 2022 Lexus tease a a new f car
Yes please hope lexus comes up with something exciting
Rx500h only has 366hp or so
@@KirkKreifels that’s currently I believe the lowest horsepower 500 model. The rest make over 400hp
The current V6 is already overpowering the front wheels. Putting any more power to the front wheels is pointless. Remember, ES is bacon wrapped Camry, that means we are stuck with FWD. unless full electrification happens …
I swear. This is the best looking lexus ES ever!
The es 500 could be a more efficient GS F
Heck yeah. The ES is too good to cancel. Like the Camry, the ES is probably going to be a heavily updated version of the current one. But with the Camry so good, the ES must have to be so much better in every way…🤔 It’s Lexus so they’ll do it right.🤞
The GS was too good to cancel
@@HalalFoodTherapyRIP GS. I miss it too.
looks like the new ES will be longer, based on the current LS size
@@settlersomanI wonder how Lexus is next planning for the LS.🤔
@@mrgurulittle7000 maybe just discontinue the LS...
Kirk, looking into trading my PPrime on '10 Lexus ES with 89K miles.
Congrats!
given that Toyota Camry had an increase of 24hp from fourth gen to fifth gen (208 vs 232) I assume that next gen for the ES, current 215+24=239hp, not too bad.
Keep up the hustle brother 👊🏽
We appreciate it 🙏
now that i think about it, es looking thing was teased as ev before right?
I hope all these Lexus 'e' models have some actual new battery technology. At least the bipolar stuff.
LEXUS ES500e - the GR version? I'd buy that....
So will this have a v6 hybrid or 4 cylinder hybrid?
Wish Toyota takes a good copy of this
Would be nice to see some trademarks/info on the UX if it exists or if it will go away.
WOW this is HUGE NEWS!!!! Can't wait to see the ES500e!!!!!!! omg
I want a ux300e, im sure im alone on that but I want one.
Yeah wish it was sold in the North American market
You rather HAVE a 2022 ES 250/350 or 2025 Camry???
Efficiency will probably not be the same. I'm expecting maybe lower 40s instead of upper 40s but that will still be freaking awesome
I think you said 340 to 350 hp, no worries I’m a professional and understood 😅
Yep! I meant 240-250 😜
should be 240 to 250, right?
Hear me out. UX-F - it'll be based on GR-Corolla. AWD, 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic(from GR-Yaris). Maybe add electric motor for extra kick. That'd be pretty sweet.
es is a fwd, u cant put too much power to just front wheels
The platform supports all wheel drive.
Never liked the look of the ES. Hopefully, the upcoming gen looks a lot better.
Great news, a full electric Lexus ES, wow❤❤❤❤❤❤❤.
when will we get some IS news? New gen on the way or is it dead?
Now what about the IS?
I could see 350e and 500e being the short and long range models of the electric ES, where the 350 and 500 being it’s estimated range in miles
With Tesla's stock plummeting due to crashing sales, Toyota has a gaping hole to fill in the market.
I wanna fill your gaping hole
Test drive the new Camry and a 2021 es300h... Still chose the Lexus. Much smoother and better build quality
Go Lexus! 💪💯
Damn...want the new ES fall 2025, with spare tire and folding down rear seat. My granddaughter is waiting for me to give her my Camry!!!!!
@2:05 don’t you mean 240-250hp for the 350h?
Lol yes. That was a slip
I have a 2023 ES300h Ultra Luxury trim and she is a dream. Good luck getting a new 2026 one, unless you get on a list, they are assembled in Kentucky (non-union shop), and pay a deposit (refundable).
New one is going back to Japan for assembly
I think it is time for Lexus to make some more powerful cars then the Koreans. 😉
Koreans don’t have any powerful vehicles. EV low 0-60 times doesn’t care
I am currently leasing a 2021 ES350 and my it ends in a couple months. I was really hoping for the redesign to come in for the 2025 model year. I am going to miss the NA V6.
Why not buy this one out?
I will probably renew and get the 2025. Upon the end of that lease (3 years), I will see what they are offering.
I’m interested in the 2025 black line special. Can’t wait another year, need a car now.
I was told we are getting a new generation ES this year.
If it was rear wheel drive I would be down to buy one.
I have had two GS cars and currently drive the last generation GS. I like to drive my car in the twisty bits, front wheel cars are not fun in my opinion.
Around me a 2025 Camry is going to be +$X,XXX over msrp, a bunch of BS accessories. An ES is -$X,XXX below msrp. Easy decision.
ES was never in the same class as those cars. Original ES was same class as a C Class just larger.
@@rahimi4762 no , actually in lexus lineup there is no rival with c-class, this is not the size matters tbh, even if there is a rivel for them then the IS series is the one will choosen
@@lightshunshine3861 Actually, the Lexus IS sedan is the challenger to the BMW 3-series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
@@johnnymason2460Johnny got it right 🥇
@@lightshunshine3861I think you meant no E class competitor
When is the IS 350 going to get some new refreshed love ?!
Your opinion is yours sir. But that V6 will go for decades before failing. Compared to the turbo engines.
We want an ES 350L version too. 👍🏼
I’m surprised Lexus is continuing to make sedans
I’m not. Sedans are in the luxury market
I would be more surprised if Lexus does not replace the LS with an EV full size luxury sedan as a direct replacement as they are most committed to offering the most sedans
When you say some thing is coming out in 2026 are you talking about the actual year or will it be released in 2025 as a 2026 model year?
Usually 2025 for the 26 model year. Or early 26
@@Bada_Boom78 I didn’t know if it was the same for future cars but yes you are correct about normal releases. Thanks.
So the new ES will be the new GS but hybrid
The GS hybrid exists too
haha, no, it will still be a crappy FWD platform with macpherson struts in front and stamped steel rear suspension.
What about a brown or creme or beige or saddle?
good, but i really hope and pray they bring back some kind of trackpad/touchpad or wheel for controlling the main screen, my arm gets so tired when im fiddling around with it
When are we getting a decent / proper F car...? :( Come on Lexus!
Nice ANALysis, can you do one for Lexus IS?
Hopefully WE will See a New Plugin Hybrid Sienna 😮🎉❤😊
Great piece. Have owned Lexus' since 1992. Please explain how leasing an EV or hybrid made in Japan gets you the tax deduction?
Love my 2019 ES359 F-Sport, and was getting really excited to upgrade to the newly designed model. Sadly, if they eliminate the gasoline engine option, I am out. I have no interest in hybrids or all-electric vehicles.
I’m excited for this one! Thinking of trading in the RX for this in a hybrid option.
