Wow congratulations to the eleven year old girl. When i was that age i certainly wasn't clean. In fact: my room looked like a dump. And when i moved out it stil took me several years before i finally became a clean person. Now i'm keeping my one bedroom apartment spotles. So you see: people can change for the better.
I used to live like this,when I was a drug addict,but when I got clean so did the house,and I've kinda never stopped cleaning since😂 it's my new addiction!

This one is hard to watch. It is sheer laziness by those parents as to why their house is a hovel. The toddler walking around barefoot in that filth! Awful!

I was raised to clean my family’s house too. After I grew up and left, it never got done. Seriously. It taught me to be a hard worker and they missed their maid. Ha! Ha!

@@kwclove7623Same here I was the only one to clean our house at 10 years of age I would get pointed out that I thought I had done well but not a window or oven done even though no one else did anything,when I would clean up and vacuum I would find it like a pigsty a hour later because as they said this is not a show house we need to live,when I left I still went twice a week because they would never have lifted a finger.
The mum is complaining that the boys don't offer to clean and won't stack the dishwasher. SHE BROUGHT THEM UP SO THE BOYS PICKED UP THE ATTITUDES OF THE MUM. DONT YOU DARE BLAME KIDS WHEN IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO RAISE THEM WITH THE RIGHT QUALITIES IN LIFE. Lazy bugger.
As my son was growing up I taught him how to do all housework.

I've watched a marathon of this and cleaned top to bottom, including the baseboards today. This show is motivation.

+SingleLaneRoad agreed.It's hard to force the energy if one is feeling that badly (and a real depression will knock the wind out of you for sure) especially if the other folks in the family don't help much. I find myself forcing a basic list through (bathrooms, floors, dishes, sheets, clothes.) More than that, if I'm doing badly (I have periodic ups and bad downs) my hubby has to take.

I agree - a mother at home raising young kids, cleaning, cooking good wholesome foods, tending homework etc is a great foundation for life - even if this mother worked two hours a day, the house would be livable. Toss all TV and laptops in a locked closet until the kids start doing their chores without any sass. This kind of mess creates chaos in young minds.

As a mother and a homemaker I am in complete shock! If my husband came home to a mess like that I would be completely embarrassed. I don't think I could possibly allow my child to live in such conditions. I just pray they've kept it clean!

the mum can't expect the kids to want to clean. most kids don't want to clean, they need to be taught (haha well most kids do, that girl is amazing). it's the parent (s) responsibility to keep the house clean and to teach the kids to help them.

The child services should have been called. That is a hazard. That's black mold. It's very dangerous. Especially in a young child like it.

Awww, that little girl, Mikaela, Michaela, is so sweet. She's just 11 and already got the cleaning bug and keeps her own room clean and tidy and serene, I can see what Kim meant about getting on with her, because like with the episode with that mum, Nooska and 9 year old son, Conner, that little girl in this case reminds Kim of her own childhood and how she started out cleaning at home as a kid, plus, I think, it passed from her grandmother I think, who was a cleaner lady of some kind once.
Michaela must be dissappointed and upset by the state of the rest of the house.
I've learned to keep possessions to a minimum watching these shows. Have some nice things and take care of them. Never let things stay on the floor.

The black mold in the bedroom, looks like a roofing problem to me. It will come back again and again. I hope they get that fixed. Always looks nice when they are done. Good job!
Black Mold as black as Sin and Pure Evil, it looked like the Dalek equivalent of mold to me, in Mass Effect terms, that was like the Reaper Mold in that bedroom, yikes! Seriously, joking aside about this, I get mold in my room on hot or cold days a few days a week, but, it's never, I mean, never, that bad or anything, ugh!
Once it was clean it was a nice house and that little girl's a sweetheart :)

some ppl have to see to believe. I like that the Brits don't have all the hoarding drama that we have here in the US on Hoarders. It makes me wonder if the difference is laziness vs hoarding compulsion.

It's good for people with no hygiene awareness & in denial about dirt & bacteria to see test lab results they can't argue with. Otherwise they just minimise & say it's not that bad.

I love getting non-chemical cleaning tips from Kim and Aggie. I understand how some cleaning products can cause allergy issues with some people, and I love getting new ideas from them especially on how to tackle mold and mildew issues.

I hope the social services have checked in on this family to make sure they didn't revert to their old ways. Forcing children to live in that environment, exposing them to dangerous mold, feeding them food cooked in a highly unsanitary kitchen, not making sure they have a healthy place to sleep unless they clean it all themselves of their own volition, is child neglect. And they have a toddler in the house whose immune system isn't developed yet! I understand the mother was overwhelmed, probably suffering from depression, but that's no excuse to leave it like that. Her 11-year-old child had to beg someone to help them.

This happened to a old friend of mine. She lost her youngest. She only kept the eldest because she was 17.
This is from 2007 - a decade ago. I'm fairly confident this council flat became a pigsty again 10 times over.

If she had even spent 15 minutes a room, it would have been better than nothing.... this was one of the few episodes that I found myself angry with the mom. Everyone is out of the house and she couldn't even tidy up the kitchen?! Arg.

I gather her mother was mean as well as tidy, so in this lady's effort to be different from her mother in every way . . .the mother probably did have a lot of fits around cleaning, probably traumatizing this soul. I wasn't that great of a housekeeper when rearing the child, because I wanted to spend time with her and we played with her every day, etc. I guess I didn't know how to combine the two.

Houses in the U.K. Seems so small compared with what I'm used to in Canada. It seems like it would be a breeze to keep a small house clean. I think we're all guilty of leaving a piece or two of clothes on the bedroom floor, but the kitchen!

Remember the UK is a very small country compared to Canada. Current population is about 63 million. What is the population of Canada. In the UK only wealthy people can afford big houses. A decent house near or in a country town in the South West will be a minimum of £380,000. In the South East not including London it's £500,000 plus. Forget London that would be millions. A 2 bed flat in a new development in Wapping E1 Overlooking the River Thames 4 years ago was a minimum of £2.5 million. (10 minutes walk from the Tower of London).

I've been in this situation, in fact one tenth of this situation, because if my house looked like this I would've moved out!!! Lol. But still last Easter due to personal problems and the quarantine I had a little depression and my house was really dirty and untidy. I was depressed and I didn't clean the house and seeing the house dirty made me more depressed. The key to get out of this vicious cycle is to take it one step at a time and clean everyday just a corner of a room, whatever you feel comfortable with. 😉👍😊❤️🤗
When my bedroom is untidy I feel upset but when it’s tidy, my mind can focus easier

Leave the paste on the oven door and add a bit more vinegar and let it sit. The grease just wipes off without as much scraping.

I worry the mum might keep the kitchen clean, but will still be overwhelmed with the house as a whole. Maybe the daughter can bring her brothers on her side though, now that they've seen how nice it can look. Shame when children are more mature than the parents though.

Of all the episodes I've watched and that's been about all of them, this woman enrages me. Her laziness. That's all it is it's just laziness and selfishness how she doesn't care about those kids. Even sends the baby off to Nursery School and is home all day and does nothing.

Ok so she is a stay at home mom... So she absolutely has the time to keep a house tidy. If both parents worked I would say it is equally both parents fault... That doesn't mean that dad and kids can't help but if mom is not working there is no reason.

Im very much a feminist, but i think having a clean home and having your childrens stuff immaculate, is part of being a good parent.
It is a part of being in a couple or in a family, even housemates to live in a orderly household so things just flow better. Clothes all over, old food and mold growing etc these parents had a communication and spending problem too.

These poor children. Their mother is lazy and selfish. They deserve better, especially the littlest one.
It comes down to the parents. If they took away the boys’ things or grounded them, they’d think twice. My parents made me clean my room every weekend. After dinner I had to dry and put away the dishes after my mum washed them. Other chores like washing the car, mowing the lawn got me pocket money!
I feel awful watching those kids dig through piles of rubbish on the kitchen floor looking for their school uniforms 😬

Seriously, I know these shows are years old, but social services should have been called in. This is child neglect. The children should have been removed from the parents. The parents if they wanted the children back, should have kept the house clean. Checks being made every week unexpectedly. Some people really don't deserve the blessing of being parents.

It made me realise that I really believed everybody would know how to clean (and would think of asking friends or google special problems, say, like mold). Now I am not so convinced any longer. It seems to be a real problem for some people. However, if my house would start to look like this I WOULD get some money to pay a cleaner, however, even that never seemed to occur to this couple. WHY WHY WHY NOT?
This house will definitely remain clean... as long as a squad of cleaners drop by at least once a month😉😄

I vacuum and mop almost every day. I do a big whole house clean every month, clean my windows 3 times a year. If you keep on top of it, it’s remarkably easy to have a clean home.
As I live in Hong Kong and in the countryside, there are a lot of bugs, especially cockroaches. If you don’t keep on top of the cleaning, you’ll get infested very quickly!
I mop like 4 times a day and hover at all hours this house is awful .how can they live like that ??
