Marylyn is rather odd. Is fastidious about her pantry and has to have labels facing her, suffers from asthma, but is concerned about certain cleaning products aggravating the condition, but is content to live in a germy, dusty home which is 7 million times worse than cleaning chemicals!!! Sorry, but that confuses me.
It occurred to me that most of the people on these shows are completely alone and are probably depressed due to sad circumstances and are stuck in a rut. It's so sad,we should always be kind. it may happen to us.
Some of them have families/partners. I guess if both people don't like cleaning and are lazy most likely no one will clean or do anything. I just can't believe that they air is harmful yet they keep living in filth, that's worse than lazy. I think this lady must also have some other issues. The fact that she can't clean and she won't show the house to others but keep living in filth.
Yes, you're right. The sad thing is that living in this state makes you feel more depressed and you get into a vicious circle. It's much easier to keep a clean house clean, but once things get to this stage most people will need a bit of help to get things sorted, but are too embarrassed to ask.

She obviously fell into depression and her troubles became too big for her to take on alone. I can't stand a nasty unkept home and I'll be very honest with the owner if I think it's nasty, I won't accept empty blanket excuses either if they offer them up. But this woman was clearly depressed. I enjoyed this episode.

As a professional housekeeper for a real estate company all I can say is less is more. When you live in an old house you sort of need to be a minimalist. In all honesty unless you are a spotless person, wood floors are hard to keep clean. Berber carpet is soft to walk on, keeps your floors warmer in the winter, and just run a vacuum over them. Put runners down and wear slippers in the house and its all good. My grandmother who was immaculate has a minimal amount of nice collectables. Keeping collectables in glass cabinets also eliminates dusting all the time. Less is more for sure.
Yep I couldn’t agree more. I am now just going through all my stuff getting rid of probably almost half. I am extremely tidy and clean person to start with and am ocd diagnosed. But I want to be more of a minimalist. Takes the stress and worry away of having to clean it all up everyday. So I will just be keeping what I absolutely need anything I haven’t used within the last year is going.
Sometimes when I am tired/sick or just a lot going on, the best medicine is when I have the power to clean. Like just doing the dishes feels amazing. The before and after makes the whole difference..

itsonlymyopinion ok I do the same. Yesterday I poured vinegar mixed with a little dish soap all over my basement floor and scrubbed it, then rinsed it with a hose down the drain. I just moved in this 120 yr old home, so I wanted to make sure it was clean. The difference it made was amazing.

Kim was a social care worker. She taught us as young teens how to clean and how to survive in the outside world. She is an amazing Lady and is still the same now as she was then. Im honoured to say I grew up in her care 🎉🎉❤❤❤
At first I thought she couldn't care less about cleaning the house but then she got into it. I found it awesome that Kim & Aggie put their picture on the wall for her. It's good that she can see her grandson at her house now. Also I found it cute that she got lipstick on her forehead when Kim & Aggie kissed her.

Khanallie milo I don't touch anything in the sink so I use a clean spoon or chopsticks to scrape stuff of then drown things with running water so there is no old water...I even use tongs to pick stuff up
This gives me cleaning motivation to keep at it. It is a struggle. I love you Kim and Aggie. I wish you would bring this show back. Maybe the next generation to help people get clean.

I love this show. It does just the slight bit of judging in the beginning (enough to keep us engaged), but afterwards is compassionate, and works with what they have. It shows how lovely a home can be, no matter ones means, and what they are working with, if they have a boost and some help to take pride in it. I dont really enjoy those expensive, ' makeover' shows. They are not realistic for an average person, but this, is achievable and inspiring.
Some of you are very mean to this woman. She might have went through depression or she might have ADHD which would explain her need to organize the food, but becomes too overwhelmed by the degree of mess. I have ADHD and without my medication, things will easily get out of hand and at that point, cleaning it is a mental warfare. I've never let or get nearly as bad as her, but it has gotten pretty bad. I'm just happy that she is able to keep it clean now.
I remember living on my own for a year, I lost my dad suddenly to cancer, we weren't in contact but it suddenly came after me a month or so later, I was just laying in my bed unable to move and my apartment looked horrid, I know that neighbors thought that I was a horrible messy person, I had it clean 99.9% of time but that week it looked horrid, I couldn't really help it though because I barely got the energy to get up, get a yogurt and water to survive and go to bathroom and back, so I know how you feel. When I get overwhelmed with anxiety or have a sudden few depressed days my house looks like a bomb just dropped inside.

I think I have it although I've had it never formally diagnosed but would like to feel the difference. Reading your words I can see that I should have the same this lady has. What I have only gotten to is to set myself just tiny goals. Let's say not arranging the whole house but just a corner at a time. That's how I go by in life.😞
Claudia Mandini-Muro yes it's hard. I was prescribed medication, however, the medication helps to an extinct, so developing certain habits is key. People with ADHD should stick to a regime because without one, habits get abandoned quickly. Utilize a calender extensively. I schedule and time a lot of my daily activities because ADHDers easily lose track of time and dates. Sometimes I wrote down to-do lists for the day which helps a whole lot. When I clean my room, I always clean by category. It makes things 100 times easily. Start with clothes (or whatever makes up the most mess) by gathering it all into a pile and addressing it first. Then gather everything else based on category like trash, makeup, or whatever. Clean by category. Anything else you need help with, feel free to ask me!
I think all the people that were on this show that weren't sick should be scientifically/ medically studied. It seems they have super strong immune systems.
There is a different British show called “OCD cleaners,” and they need to see this show and try these things. One episode they had to help a lady and her historic house and the lady said “no modern Cleaning stuff,” this is up the alley!!!!
The point being , its more a therapy approach thats needed to change the mindset , withought any of that kind of support , theres a very high chance its gonna happen again and quickly sure , it would be nice to think they will stick to keeping it clean , but its taken years to get that way in the first places , so sure enough within a few days , it will slowly start to return.

I love this show. It does just the slight bit of judging in the beginning (enough to keep us engaged), but afterwards is compassionate, and works with what they have. It shows how lovely a home can be, no matter ones means, and what they are working with, if they have a boost and some help to take pride in it. I dont really enjoy those expensive, ' makeover' shows. They are not realistic for an average person, but this, is achievable and inspiring.

Some of you are very mean to this woman. She might have went through depression or she might have ADHD which would explain her need to organize the food, but becomes too overwhelmed by the degree of mess. I have ADHD and without my medication, things will easily get out of hand and at that point, cleaning it is a mental warfare. I've never let or get nearly as bad as her, but it has gotten pretty bad.
I'm just happy that she is able to keep it clean now.
I remember living on my own for a year, I lost my dad suddenly to cancer, we weren't in contact but it suddenly came after me a month or so later, I was just laying in my bed unable to move and my apartment looked horrid, I know that neighbors thought that I was a horrible messy person, I had it clean 99.9% of time but that week it looked horrid, I couldn't really help it though because I barely got the energy to get up, get a yogurt and water to survive and go to bathroom and back, so I know how you feel. When I get overwhelmed with anxiety or have a sudden few depressed days my house looks like a bomb just dropped inside.

What I have only gotten to is to set myself just tiny goals. Let's say not arranging the whole house but just a corner at a time. That's how I go by in life.😞
Claudia Mandini-Muro yes it's hard. I was prescribed medication, however, the medication helps to an extinct, so developing certain habits is key. People with ADHD should stick to a regime because without one, habits get abandoned quickly. Utilize a calender extensively. I schedule and time a lot of my daily activities because ADHDers easily lose track of time and dates. Sometimes I wrote down to-do lists for the day which helps a whole lot.
When I clean my room, I always clean by category. It makes things 100 times easily. Start with clothes (or whatever makes up the most mess) by gathering it all into a pile and addressing it first. Then gather everything else based on category like trash, makeup, or whatever. Clean by category.

The point being , its more a therapy approach thats needed to change the mindset , withought any of that kind of support , theres a very high chance its gonna happen again and quickly sure , it would be nice to think they will stick to keeping it clean , but its taken years to get that way in the first places , so sure enough within a few days , it will slowly start to return.
