The very best concert with all the strings I have played this over and over. she sings like she speaks very sweet.
She has always been my favorite. Her music will continue and form new listeners.
So happy to see and read about her fan base and all there Dearing comments.
I was around 10 yrs old when I started to follow her. Now I'm 76 and had the chance to meet her in person backstage.
I will never forget that and she was so down to earth with her fans.
A pure legend a gift of the voice.

I'm avid fan of Joni James since I was 10 years old and still I'm in love with her until now. I'm now 80 years old. I hope Joni can read this if she's still living.

I was around 10 yrs old when I first heard of her.
Met her in person late nineties in Lincoln Center I could not believe it.
Went backstage after concert to meet her in person.
Sat there had a wonderful 😊 conversation with her just couldn't believe I was there.
What memories I have thanks to my Dad who introduced me to her music. I was considered different while everyone else was into rock n roll I was into Joni James.
I love ❤ being different and I know I have good taste.
I listen to her everyday. She is an 😇 angel.

Sadly Joni passed away peacefully on Feb.20, 2022 at age 91. All we have left of her is our memories of her and her recordings to listen to. Thank God she left these for us.I was very fortunate to get to talk to her by phone a few months before she passed. She was so happy to hear from me and we spoke for a long time. She was so upbeat and reminded me that she was 90, and would be 91 soon. I told her how great she sounded and no one would ever know her age from the tone of her voice. I wish I could speak to her again, but I know that is impossible . My dear Joni I will always remember you, and the wonderful association we had over the many years we have known each other. My last words to her were "I love you Joni."

Joni also sang "There Must Ge A Way" and "I Still Get A Thrill" that night to tremendous ovations. M-G-M had a rough time with the live recording because it was the first in stereo and at that point Carnegie Hall was not the best setting for recording a tender soprano right in front of a massive symphony orchestra and 40-voice church choir and seven microphones providing the feed (!). Joni is looking for the master tape of the entire concert; so far only the edited version has been found.

One credit Joni should get is that the folks at Capitol Records learned a lot from Joni's Carnegie Hall recording experience in preparing to record Judy Garland there two years later. She says when she came on stage she realized no one had told her which microphone was which microphone and she was very conscious of the need to get a stereo perspective. She did adjust some of the mikes unobtrusively and happened to guess right, though I think it was not a matter of guessing but her own long expertise.
