My favorite album of all time. Played it over and over. She spoke like she sang. Happy I met here in person. She also had a pink airplane flew across the ocean to perform. Sadly 😥 missed now sings for God and the angels.
My favorite album from my father's collection was this Joni James album, I was 11 at the time, and listened to it over and over again. When my sister was born in 1960, I had the privilege of naming her...and her name became "Joni"....after a beautiful singer. Thank you Joni for all the memories.
@@marianocustodio449 Oh, my pleasure! She (Joni) sang like an angel and still brings a tear to my eye....btw, my baby sister is now 61!!! :-) Have a great day...
When you hear music specially sung at a prestigious place like Carnegie Hall the music becomes alive. The arrangement of the music here is very good. Before the concert begins it's overture is very good to hear. With audience participation like that giving all the applauses what more can you ask for. Truly the song artist will be mesmerized by the concert goers adulation and acceptance.
Yes, you're wonderful to Know the beautiful artist With whom I have loved Since freshman in High School. 1953. My favorite singer, not Discounting the other wonderful ladies singing. Thank you soo much Joni, and those sharing This Album. Know she is singing in Heaven.!!!🤩❤😘💥💚💙
Love to hear Joni... she has that sweet innocent voice, speaking and singing. She has that musical voice. "When I Grow Too Old To Dream" has a minimal background accompaniment and you can enjoy the music her voice and delivery provide. Amazing!
I will always love Joni James singing from the depths of her heart. While i love most of her numbers, my top faves will always remain "There must be a way", originally sung by actor-singer, Johnny Johnston in the 40's. He sounded too much like Bing Crosby, so the novelty of the song was lost. It wasn't until the late 50's that Joni brought real life to this song and resurrected it to unparalleled heights. Another top fave is "Why don't you believe me". This song was originally sung by Dinah Shore in the 40's film "Till the clouds roll by". While Ms. Shore's version was good, Joni gave it more depth and feeling with emphasis on certain words and lines.
Nicely recorded. I wasn't really that aware of joni james until today. I'm a senior baby boomer who grew up with great jazz into rock into r&b. Through jazz I was aware of the greats like Billie holiday, Ella, Sarah, and lesser known like Helen Merrill, Beverly Kenney, Ann Phillips, etc. This album has that wonderful 50's, 60's sound. Joni had a beautiful voice. Thank you for introducing her. Nicely done!!!

Joni James was a fabulous singer, snd was recognized. Her talent was recognized, amazingly loved. Cherished to this day.thank you for sharing, my favorite singer. Many beautiful, adorable Female singer, I love and admire, However, Joni James captured my heart when first heart her in a young Girl, in high school, 1953,54, Whittier High. Beautiful memories, friends. Thank you Joni, Editorial person too.
Dinah Washington said it best around 1959-60 in either Look or Life magazine: "Worst singer that ever recorded. When my voice is at its worse it is ten times better than hers." I agree. James had a major record company, MGM behind her and a genius arranger, Lew Douglas that gave her over the top arrangements with what sounded like 100 musicians that covered up her little talent. It is called, luck folks, like winning the Lottery at a perfect time in life and in this case getting apparent lasting recognition.

A very underrated singer. Joni never had the the very big "breakthrough" hit that would have made her a household name. But we appreciate her talent.
