In 1961 I was 10 years old. I was down at "the station" with Grandpa and saw a brand new purple 4-door version of this in the showroom. My Uncle Roy was half owner of this Mobil station, and also a Plymouth dealer. I remarked to Grandpa that he ought to buy this ca. A few days later, it was in Grandpa's driveway! I thought he must have liked my advice, but probably he had ordered it and just did not tell me that. I think this was the last new car he bought from his brother, as by the mid-60's the auto companies had weeded out the little dealers in favor on one dealer per county. That is what I heard, anyway. How does a memory 60-years old like that still remain? Good luck with your Savoy!

Learned to drive in a '61 Plymouth Fury 4-door with the 318 Poly. Imagine the fun in having to parallel that between two other cars at a metered parking spot. Those are absolutely cool dashes and the speedo is quite unique. Loved the car and wanted to restore it. Sadly it was sold while I was in the marines.

1961 Ford's and Chevy's were both better looking than than the Plymouth's. The Chevies are much more common as they sold many of them. Restored Savoy's are scarce if back to original. Most end up as resto mods or used for parts for Fury's.
