Will This 1961 Valiant Run After Sitting 30 Years? 1961 Valiant: Part 1
มุมมอง 4.3Kปีที่แล้ว
In this video, we start the "Rustoration" of this '61 Valiant that has been off the road for over 30 years. While making this car as reliable as possible, we try to fix it on a budget, showing how not every car has to be perfect or expensive to be driven and enjoyed. 1966 Belvedere - Fixing The Vacuum Leak On The 451
มุมมอง 343ปีที่แล้ว
After pulling the intake manifold off of the 451, we believe we found our vacuum leak caused by the valley pan not sealing completely. After installing the valley pan alongside intake manifold gaskets, I believe that our vacuum leak is fixed. Hope to take the car out again next season and try to reach that 10.90 ET! 1966 Belvedere Test And Tune - October 29, 2022
มุมมอง 3.4Kปีที่แล้ว
Once we achieved full throttle, the car ran 11.37 at 117 MPH gaining over .3s. We decided to swap on a 1050 Proform carburetor to do more adjustments, which got us to the fastest of 11.29 at 118 MPH. The car is still lean, however, which we believe may be due to a vacuum leak.

Running my dad's 1966 Belvedere at US-131 Motorsports Park - October 22, 2022 The car previously ran 11.70s, however, we had switched to a different carb for this test and tune. The car ran lean all day, in which we finally discovered after several jet changes that we were only getting half throttle with our aftermarket throttle cable. With the old carb and only 3/4 throttle, we ended up runnin...

    My very first car...in 1965...was a red V200 with a 225 and manual trans. That car took a beating from a 16 year old kid, and just kept going. Used to carry a 2 gallon can of Gulf Sapphire 30 weight, and a gallon of K-mart anti-freeze, but I loved that car, and I'd have another in a heartbeat...if I could find one!

    I was always put off by the open slant 6 design where all you have easy access to is the exhaust manifold on top and your distributor and plugs are buried below on the other side! My dad drove one of these for years and I recall him buying "a Dollar's worth of regular" gas, which was 4 gallons which lasted all week at least!

    What you have is a `61 Valiant V200 2 door hardtop, 1 of 18,586 built. I have one that sat for 38 years before I brought it back to life in 2014. 170 /6 was standard with the 225 /6 becoming optional mid year `61.

    In 1961 I was 10 years old. I was down at "the station" with Grandpa and saw a brand new purple 4-door version of this in the showroom. My Uncle Roy was half owner of this Mobil station, and also a Plymouth dealer. I remarked to Grandpa that he ought to buy this ca. A few days later, it was in Grandpa's driveway! I thought he must have liked my advice, but probably he had ordered it and just did not tell me that. I think this was the last new car he bought from his brother, as by the mid-60's the auto companies had weeded out the little dealers in favor on one dealer per county. That is what I heard, anyway. How does a memory 60-years old like that still remain? Good luck with your Savoy!

    Learned to drive in a '61 Plymouth Fury 4-door with the 318 Poly. Imagine the fun in having to parallel that between two other cars at a metered parking spot. Those are absolutely cool dashes and the speedo is quite unique. Loved the car and wanted to restore it. Sadly it was sold while I was in the marines.

    We bought a 1960 Valiant with the 225 six. It ran pretty good, but I mainly remember the radio sounding like it was full of bees when you turned it on, before it warmed up. It was the red color that yours used to be...

    • @davidzornig1319
      @davidzornig1319 ปีที่แล้ว

      Someone must have swapped the original engine. As all `60 Valiants came only with the 170/6. The 225/6 did not become optional in Valiant until mid year `61, when 2 door hardtops and 2 door sedans were added to the line up. All `60 Valiants were 4 doors.
