  • I built a custom replica of a 1966 Batmobile. When I go to car shows people ask if the buttons and switches all work. They do. I made this video to demonstrate most of the features of the car, including the simulated turbine start up sound. Finish body work and paint by Mr. Pat Crafton. Here is a link to another video of the Batmobile chasing the Joker:

I would have to agree this one is incredible and the best one I’ve ever seen before. The fact that nearly all the gadgets actual work is incredible. I didn’t think the guns would shoot and I was very impressed that the shoots retracted back into the car. Remarkable ingenuity. I will say for the rockets I think you could somehow incorporate a legal firework or type of flare that can shoot out. That would take that feature and the car to even a higher level. Again this is a work of art and I can’t imagine all the time and money spent to create such a vehicle. Bravo.

I promised not to and out I went feeling like the shit. Walked to the end of the block and there were my buddies and one of the dad’s with a go cart. Awesome! @@Batcarguy Very kind & generous of you & I can see how the psychology of that would work on those appreciative kids… 🤩
I live in the U.K. & perhaps about 20 years ago or so (I don’t recall the exact timespan…), I was astonished to see what turned out to be one of the ORIGINAL 1966 Batmobiles that was used for the TV show, parked right outside New Scotland Yard in London (the Headquarters of the Metropolitan Police) with its famous revolving triangular sign as a backdrop. It was there for an opportunistic & very thematic “Crime Fighting” photo shoot, ahead of that vehicle being auctioned off at one of the famous & prestigious U.K. Auction Houses (Bonham’s, I think?). I took a few photos of the car myself, on my mobile phone but, sadly, I don’t think I ever downloaded them onto my computer… & since that phone is truly “yesterday’s news” & was one of many defunct & obsolete electronic devices that my Wife encouraged me to let her clear out of our house (just a few weeks ago!), it’s just dawned on me that those nostalgic & quite whimsical photos will be lost now... ☹️
Out of interest, since you portray “Batman” yourself & your friend, Jim, makes an excellent “Joker” (I loved the way he ran off from the bullet riddled “Clown” 🤡 mobile 😂), do you also have a suitable “Robin” to complete the famous “Crime Fighting Duo” at exhibitions & such? Either way, keep up the great work! 🏆🥇

All the Batmobiles in the movies did justice to the Dark Knight but for me the best Batmobile was the one in this video, the same one in the mid 1960s TV show, which actually wasn't a dark portrayal of him.

Except for the Catwoman and Batgirl scenes too. They only gave us glimpses. You just gave us what we always wanted in a Batmobile. Certainly a functional upgraded Batmobile that George Barris would be proud of. Adam West would drool to drive. There was some promotion by Mt Dew or something giving way the 1989 Batmobile that I had great plans to put a Hemi in. You made the Batmobile real. I was about 12 when I saw the George Barris Batmobile at a car show in the 1970’s. I couldn’t believe it was there. I looked it over best I could from the velvet tube ropes. Honestly... from an engineering and creativity perspective, this is one of the best things I have ever seen. The sheer amount of effort and ingenuity you've put into this car to get all those gadgets working... which is no mean feat by itself considering how much tech & equipment you've had to squeeze into relatively small spaces, is absolutely incredible. The functional control system and display panels alone are a work of art. I read your comment about the vintage Ferrari driver slamming his door and driving off in a huff... well screw him. There is no need for any modesty about your work because any idiot with money (like me) can but a vintage car collection and whilst I a least have the skill set to restore and maintain them (and my own light aircraft) what you have done here is next level genius. I've literally just sat here for 18 minutes (watched your video twice) with my mouth open. Gobsmacked. Well done Sir... well done!
Edit: As a veteran I have to ask about the door mounted guns. Obviously you're using blanks here but can the guns fire synchronized and are they aim/distance set to intersect at a certain range? Finally... Nerd question lol but does the car have a targeting/aim system for them?

    • @Batcarguy
      @Batcarguy  ปีที่แล้ว +15

Wow! Thanks very much. I'm not sure which service you served in (thank you). My profession is designing military aircraft, mostly for the Air Force, but as a civilian. Perhaps some of that spilled over into the Batmobile. The rounds used in the video are real 9MM. Blanks would have been easier during the filming, but they wouldn't cycle the action. Both guns fire simultaneously with the actuation of the button on the steering wheel. Believe it or not, I wrote to the regional ATF office and got their tacit permission to install the guns. But they were very, very specific: one actuation of the firing mechanism yields one bullet. No automatic firing no matter how it's rigged. Sorry to disappoint, but there is no aim point or system. I was happy when the guns deployed, fired, and retracted without scratching the paint! I have another video where I use the guns to foil a master criminal, the Joker (link at the end of this video) . The bullets and hits are real, but were edited in. I couldn't find a volunteer to drive the Clown Victoria while I was shooting at it. Thanks again for you kind words.

I'm blown away!! I don't think I've EVER seen anything as cool as this!! The real Bat Mobile had NOTHING compared to this👍🏻😳

Well, other than Adam West and Burt Ward sitting in it, I totally agree!

THIS is by FAR the absolute BEST Batmobile i have EVER seen!! It's so incredibly beautiful, the gauges are extraordinary, and the fact that so MANY features ACTUALLY work, like... REALLY WORK!! are you kidding??? Jet turbine, flamethrower, machine gun doors, the back parachutes (and they retract back in!!!) the front cutting wheel, you REALLY made my day friend!! Beautiful, PERFECT job!!!!

Glad you liked it. There will ever only be one original 1966 Batmobile, and that one is out of my price range. So since I had to build my own, I thought I might as well build in more gadgets😏

WOW absolutely amazing job! Even if you are not a fan of the original batman to got to admire the dedication to making everything actually functional. Only down side to this is it is a shame that Adam West is not alive to see this amazing vehicle.

My man, your absolutely nuts. Amazing results, and dedication to bring the Batmobile into reality. This isn't just a replica, this is a full on real Bat Mobile.
I can't wait for someone to inevitably make a fully functioning Mach 5.

They did that already believe it or not early circa 1992s . I have it on VHS. They showed it with an interview with the man who did the voices of speed Racer and Trixie on PBS. It was a regularvcustom cars program series. They toured it on the NASCAR circuit briefly or so they said.

I'm speechless. What an outstanding achievement. It's absolutely spotless, all the gadgets are functional - within legal parameters anyway - and the attention to detail is faultless.
    Bravo to you sir.

Thanks! Yeah, it's street legal except for the lack of windshield wipers. A deputy sheriff pulled me over once, but he just wanted a picture of the Batmobile with his cruiser.

Epic build, beyond the nth degree of awesome! The 1966 Batmobile is the one & only.
George Barris would have been most impressed, I'm sure.

Thank you. I visited George Barris at his shop in West Hollywood when I was preparing to build the car. I just showed up at the back door unannounced. He was very cordial and showed me around, including the original Batmobile! (He still owned it at the time). In fact, he left me alone to take pictures! I returned some years later when his health was failing. He signed a couple panels which I attached to the car, one on each seat back. A very nice man.
