Greg, I have the Base case for you. I'm moving to Florida in a few months. I have an old p c I built back on the nineties with a full-size case. I would love to see what you could do with it. If it's something you would like to consider , please reach out to me , and I would love to hear from you
You must have some picky burgers, in my neighbourhood they’d take it and sell it for $50, even if the components were worth $2000 (we pay a lot for PC parts in Australia)
I always love sleeper pcs because you can build something that looks extremely basic outside, but inside has everything you need to handle the best games.
Depending on the JFP header fitment you could just rearrange the pins on the header plug without having to do any soldering. Just need a precision flathead to lift the securing tabs and go from there. Did that on an older Dell XPS case in the past.
Turn the "eMachines eTower 566ir" into a sleeper pc. With the "Never Obsolete" sticker that it comes with, I think that would make a really nice video!
To be honest, I really like the aesthetics of the build. It fits well together collectively. If you had the reference 7800XT, that would have been the card that could have fitted in there that is more powerful than the 3060 Ti and matches the aesthetics.
Great sleeper build, it great explanation that having extremely high-end doesn't mean it's not a sleeper. I don't know the models, but a 90s Packard Bell would be great.
Sleeper build heck yeah! Love the concept of these, they look slick without RGB as well. Keep up with these amazing builds Greg. As for the builds I'd recommend an SFF Optiplex 9th gen intel and a rtx 4060 lp.
I recently built a "sleeper" in a Thermaltake case from around 2011, though I cheated! I made RGB shine through the front grill thanks to RGB fans. All that RGB looks very unusual in such an old case and I really like it that way!
I recently found this channel while, ironically enough, searching for sleeper PC builds on TH-cam (the stealthier, the better, IMO). After having watched this video in particular, I started to dive into your back catalog of videos and found myself enjoying the "Gear Up" and "Fix or Flop" series as well. In regards to the latter series, I really enjoyed watching you use the process of elimination until you narrowed down the problem and in most cases, resolved it for the viewer. With the former series, though, it was the look of gratitude on the people's faces as you helped upgrade and/or replace their rig that made that series so enjoyable for a viewer such as myself. I'd really like to see you do a beige sleeper PC that looks like it was built around 1999 or 2000. I've always been particular to In-Win cases from around that time, since I had the A500 case back then. Since you mentioned you'd like to use a full tower for the beige sleeper PC, I'd like to make a suggestion, if I may: the In-Win Q500, which was the full tower equivalent to the case that I had back then. The best feature about both cases, again IMO, is that they had a removable motherboard tray, a feature which has only relatively recently returned to some PC cases. It is an ATX case, though, so building in it won't be as restrictive as some of the older, sometimes custom OEM cases that you've built in that came out even after the aforementioned In-Win PC cases. Lastly, I'm looking forward to the upcoming content on the channel as it never fails to entertain as well as inform. Have a good one, Greg, and take care. 🙂
For people worrying about buying on Ali. My pc is running a r5 3600 since 2020, my brother have a 5600 since launch, both from Ali. Also from Ali, our 4 sticks of ram, my Arctic fans and both our keyboards. I dont recommend is SSDs tho, some friends got and they died after a while
These builds are right up my alley, getting a cheap chassis and upgrade the insides with new/ish components. I do this all the time for friends and family. Specially when they are on a tight budget.
I have reused old Dell and HP towers for years. They're very sturdy and usually come with a ODD and memory card reader. Also, I don't hesitate to, or feel bad, when i cut holes and modify it as needed for air flow. Frankencases are people too.
I absolutely love sleeper pcs. I used to have one of those over the top rgb builds, then rebuilt it to make it all black no leds, and now thanks to you I'm thinking about just putting it in an old ass case
I always wonder about rust when you clean the cases with water Like yea you wipe it down right away but water will still remain in hard to get crevaces that could lead to rust ?? Am I wrong for thinking this ?
I used to have a Acer PC but I put modern hardware in it what I don't understand is why the inside facing the front is cover by a metal cover which is riveted to it and by removing it the airflow has improved
Great job on a sleeper build. I recently did this with an old lenovo case that came with windows 7 originally, I think it had an am2 system in it before I pulled it out. The hardest part was figuring out the wiring for the front usb and audio as lenovo used a proprietary plug. I used an r5 5600, 32gb 3200 vengeance rgb, an asus tuf rtx 3060 12gb and put it all on an asus b450m-a board. Runs really quiet and cool with fans in front and back.
Great job! Though I'd avise against using Vengeance RGB with Ryzen, some people have reported stability issues and I definitely had some, with different kits on different platforms.
@@Zebra_Paw yeah I've had issues before but these ones are on the qvl list for this board. I haven't had any issues with them after many hours of stress testing and gaming benchmark runs. I'll probably grab some Trident z neo though just to be safe.
@@larryrodriguez1977 I've found G.Skill RAM to work amazingly with Ryzen and I'm very happy about my 32GB of 3600MHz CL16 RipJaws I got for really cheap considering the speeds.

I like many old IBM Aptiva cases. Finding ATX ones shouldn't be a problem. The only problem is they are air flow restrictive. Old Pentium IIIs didn't need that much air to stay cool.
I still have an old beige computer that lays flat instead of a tower, haven't booted it up in years of course so I don't remember what os it has(probrobly windows vista or something)
I actually really like the ‘upside down’ builds. GPU sag is a big issue these days due to the massive coolers hanging off the cards and this goes a long way to helping fix it!
Sleeper build can certainly be fun, as they do require some planning and potential case modifications internally without giving it away on the outside.
Don't let HP see you using parts that aren't HP proprietary with 9 years warranty for only $896.66 a month, they might see red 😂Sweet sleeper build Greg
Built some of my leftovers in an old case with the dvd, actually cd-drive. Quite decent, skylake i5 6600, z170, 16gb ddr4, 1650gtx also as it was one of the first boards to accept nvme i threw one (25€ for 256 at the time) in there to keep it fast. Love to see a solid build that isn't over-the-top (though I do like one occasionally). Definitely something most can tackle on a reasonable budget.

Yeah, unfortunately the keyed (closed) pin on the case's connector is in the wrong place. I suppose I could try to punch it out.
Really appreciate these consistent uploads. It wouldn't be an overstatement to say many people appreciate these videos.

Natural, wholesome, honest and homely content. Thank you sir.
I actually really like the looks of the front of the case. Great little system.
Why not try a beige horizontal case ? Like the ones that you'd used to stand the crt monitors on top of ?
Very smart move going with a office case. People these days waste a lot of their budget on the case.
