Poor Martha! I love how when we're taught about Watergate in school, ALL the credit is given to Woodward, Bernstein and Deepthroat. They played a major role, but imagine if women had actually been respected or taken seriously at that time - the world would have known about Watergate way before those guys came along.

Crazy that they drop these on youtube a day before they air on comedy central. Crazier that steve king is still alive. Not at all surprised trump appointed him for ambassador to the Czech republic.
Daisy Mitchell was used and treated like garbage,, her story is super heartbreaking.. She was trying to keep people aware of what was really going on in the govt,, she started talking about what was going on during cocktail parties, that's when the media started saying she was nuts... she did drink BUT her creepy husband made it look like she was a drunk and crazy, which she was not,, just to cover up her truth...
His final sentence has something poetic to it. When he says "She's the reason we..." you expect something world changing that happened because of her. But then he finishes with "... know about Watergate." Because that's really all that happened. We know about the Crimes, but nothing has changed to prevent stuff like that from happening again. Corruption and crime are still rampant in American Politics.
I'm horrified that I am learning that a woman was dehumanized and painted as a lunatic and that it is actually called "The Martha Mitchell Effect" on DRUNK HISTORY, after years of my own parents doing this exact thing to me as punishment for accusing a relative of sexual abuse of me and all of my cousins when we were between the ages of 3 and 7 years old.
