It’s astonishing that this guy figured out that dolphins are intelligent but wasn’t smart enough himself to realize that dolphins wouldn’t be able to produce the sounds of human, much less English, language. And yet he got major funding. What a story!

I actually like this story and have read about it a lot. Dolphin studies have come so far that we now know that even dolphin tribes communicate differently; they definitely have some kind of language. They're way closer to humans than not. And Peter the dolphin did off himself, which is a spectacularly self-aware thing to do.
They left out the most important historical impact of these experiments: directly inspiring the video game Ecco the Dolphin.
