My Mum is seriously ill but having seen this clip today I actually laughed out loud and remembered how I loved this daft, hilarious programme. Thank you!
Sam Kelly (the actor who plays Hans) explained in an interview that what Hans is saying is "Hitler!" really fast as he doesn't actually support him! He's only a German officer as a survival tactic and in his last episode when they escape the POW camp, Hans went into hiding and waited out the war, I think it was so Sam Kelly could work on another project, but it made me respect the character a little more, considering how useless he seemed as a German officer!
This was like having a pantomime every week in your living room.Dont know if the laughter was added but id believe it was filmed Infront of an audience.
Yes, the interior scenes of most BBC comedies are filmed in front of a studio audience - for one thing, the actors prefer acting in front of an audience. (External scenes are filmed on location prior to the studio scenes being filmed and are shown to the studio audience during the studio filming. The audience reaction to those scenes is then added to them as it would be odd to only have laughter on internal scenes).
"Many incorrect explanations have circulated since the start of the series as to what Captain Hans Geering actually shouts when he does the Nazi salute. Sam Kelly has often said that it had cost him a fortune in stamps writing to people to tell them what it actually was, namely '-tler!' which is short for 'Heil Hitler'. Kelly felt that Hans couldn't be bothered saying all of 'Heil Hitler'." - IMDB The trivia aside it definitely sounds like he's saying "Klop" haha. As a Liverpool fan that's kind of a funny coincidence :D
I know of at least 3 occasions when the cast broke character and just had to lol but I cannot believe with how funny the show is there was not more like this moment for one
Always loathed this when it came out and cheap working class tosh. Looking at the comments, I am vindicated. However, I quite like it now. Nostalgia as the Greeks would say.
Are people really THAT DEAF they could really hear KLOP???? HAHAHAHA it's amazing. Just because you don't know a language, doesn't mean you should make up words xD if the word is ending with an "R" or "ER" in German, it would be pronounced like "A" just a simple A like in screaming AAAAA, ok so tler becomes TLA. There is absolutely no possibility you can hear an P there. Come on, i'm Serbian and i was 6 when i watched it for the first time and me and my sister always knew what he was talking about, but grown people are commenting Klop HAHAHAHAHAHA ah... the world...
Oh i get it now actually hahahaa, cause i was reading Klop in German, now i know it's just english speaking people who are not educated enough, that can think something like that 🥲
One of best comedy's ever made 😂😂

If not for the canned laughter I wouldn't know when to laugh. Yet, I still didn't.
That's because this show is about as funny as diarrhoea
This show was made in 1989. Chill out

Not canned laughter - live audience.
