Political correctness has ruined real humour and freedom of speech! They wouldn't allow anyone to make a sitcom like this anymore.... It's heart breaking indeed!!!
You can. It is a farce. Its literally a really good version of a traditional farce. You can see one in nearly any amateur theatre hall any saturday of the sodding year.
@@MrsHyde92 Peep show had an episode where a man killed and ate a dog. Derry Girls had a teenage girl trying to run away with a priest. Allo Allo reruns all the time. Bedroom farces are a staple of British amateur dramatics to this day. What are you even talking about here?
The loss of freedom of speech is a right wing myth. If it weren't like that, do you really think Frankie Boyle would be allowed on national television? Do you really think David Mitchell and Robert Webb would have been able to broadcast episodes of the Peep Show in which a dog was eaten and Nazi uniforms were used? To suggest that the UK doesn't have freedom of speech is absolute weapons grade bollocks. If you get fined or put in prison for speaking your mind, then and only then do you lack freedom of speech. And literally no one in history has ever been offended by Allo Allo. Freedom of speech does not mean freedom to say what you like without being criticised by others.
@@mattswiercz6995 Not necessarily. A series 4 episode states it is in 1941 and the first couple of series didn't have many time skips so it is very possible that it is not long after the Eastern Front opened. What's unlikely is how cold Grüber would have been considering that he must have been part of the initial invasion and the front opened up in summer.
It brings a new meaning to ‘situation comedy’, doesn’t it? Sometimes I can’t get enough air from all the laughter when watching this series. The situations were always outrageous and far from reality but they were always in good taste and never really became annoying (like so many today’s comedies), partly due to the incredible cast that made the situation believable and partly due to the brilliant writing. It’s really quite amazing what they’ve accomplished and it holds a special place in my heart.
I agree with everyone else, it doesn't matter how often I see this scene, I always end up hurting from laughing so hard. And it is clear that Gordon Kaye was right there with us, as he was choking back the laughter as well.
Its a simple structure, but the greatness of Allo Allo is in the consistency and the brilliant individual performances. The timing is expertly delivered by people who had been doing it in theatre for years.
This is the one sitcom I watched over and over, countless times over the years and it never gets boring. Those that wrote it, directed it and acted it out in such a masterful way simply are the worlds best pros.
Ok three things: 1. Leclerc's reaction at 2:12 is everything 😂😂😂 2. "These are your matches! They're not my matches!" - PRICELESS 🤣 3. Guy Siner is super cute here ❤️
Absolutely right. Other shows have garnered higher praise from around that era, but these performances and consistent writing make this show timeless in a way it really shouldnt be.
I remember the first time I watched this episode and laughed so much I thought I'd burst my appendix or something. "It was very lonely on the Russian front." Delivered with such finesse.
Listen very carefully. I shall say this only once. This is one of the greatest shows to ever been on TV. I Just absolutely love British comedy. They’re the darn best. Gordon was a comedic genius.
One of my favourite moments: Rene polishing a glass and Gruber says " Rene, I hear you're from Nancy " Rene:" that's right Lieutenant, my brother and I are BOTH Nancy boys " Killer 🙀🤣🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭👍🇬🇧❤
The before is a dying dinosaur now....It's incredible to think that they can't produce 1 per cent of this quality with all the money they have, which they waste it all on no talent and the pc brigade.
Gosh, Allo Allo is my absolutely top of the top of the movies! I spent all my childhood watching this comedy. Wow, good memories came back, thank you Robikus ❤️
AYBS and AA were both co-written and produced by David Croft. KUA was written by Roy Clarke, who also wrote OAH, and was produced by Harold Snoad, who had been David Croft's assistant. Trevor Bannister appeared in both AYBS and KUA, and I think Gorden Kaye had also appeared in AYBS.
Hence we have Cobra Kai on TH-cam now. Not as extensive as the good old BBC, but at least sticking it to the P.C. generation that get offended by everything.
Absolutely hilarious no matter how many times you watch it. The timing and delivery from them all is masterful.
only the british can do it !
"Is he one of us???"
"No he is one of them!"
"PLEASE DO NOT TELL EVERYBODY!"
Priceless xD
Yes, comedy writing at it's finest!
You're absolutely right! I don't know any other show that lasts and keep me laughing all this years! This is a masterpiece. One of a kind!
I watched these sometimes just to laugh it off
British comedy at it's best. It's a crying shame that we don't get comedies like that any more.

One of the best sitcoms ever. Lloyd and Croft were geniuses with many incredible sitcoms to their credit.
Love love love Allo Allo - Gordon Kaye was the most understated comedy genius - RIP Gordon

"No, he's one of them!" lol
Just in case you missed watching the clip you just watched!

@@TheRapGeneral1 Yeah Helga is a very lucky gal. ;)

"It was very lonely on ze Russian front." lol
That could be interpreted in two ways
please, don't tell everybody!
Lol!
It's 1940. So a year later the Russian front opened.

Disguised with a quick bit of overacting.
I can watch this a million times and still fall to the floor laughing….this a different league of comedy
I don't think we realised just how good this all was, when first we saw it. It was not just funny.. it was inspired!
effyleven When you see the junk that passes for comedy these days, sitcoms from the past like 'Allo Allo' really shine.
Its a simple structure, but the greatness of Allo Allo is in the consistency and the brilliant individual performances. The timing is expertly delivered by people who had been doing it in theatre for years.
I think we took this kind of quality almost for granted. How wrong we were.
This and also "Ve ask ze qvestions" are my all-time fav scenes!!!
when René says "i have no matches" to Le Clerc...🤣🤣🤣

Guy is the cutest character of them all!
One of the funniest scenes ever 😂
My most favourite scene, and also (I had to ask when I met him a few years back) one of Guy Siner's personal favourites.
i think the drug in the jug is side busting no matter how many times you see it.
This is my all time fav comedy show ever made, it's brilliant 🤣🤣🤣
'Should I sing another song?'
'NO! We're in enough trouble already'
Gold XD
Damn this was a good show
«He is one of them» 😂🤣
I used to watch it with my grandpa!!! It's priceless!!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Perfect comedy writing. Perfect comedy acting. Put those two ingredients together and this is what you get.
Absolutely right. Other shows have garnered higher praise from around that era, but these performances and consistent writing make this show timeless in a way it really shouldnt be.
A classic!!! You hardly ever seen pure comedy gold like this these days!
Nothing beats Rene's "I have no matches", fully aware of the fact that it both sounds ridiculous and must be said anyway.

I agree wonderful time to bring it back so we can all have something to keep us said from crazy
Who else taped these shows on VHS back in the days ! Gold.
VHS? Luxury.
When I were a lad, we 'ad to draw every frame on a piece of used toilet paper.
One of my favourite moments:

Rene:" that's right Lieutenant, my brother and I are BOTH Nancy boys "
Killer 🙀🤣🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭👍🇬🇧❤
Yes, and what made it a killer line is the way Rene realised halfway through saying it what the double entendre was
classic comedy such a shame this stuff is no longer on tv x
Comedy genius ! 😂
One of the best introductions of a character ever!!! ❤ 😂 😂 😂
'Allo 'Allo was wonderful and came from a time when the BBC knew how to produce great comedy.
The before is a dying dinosaur now....It's incredible to think that they can't produce 1 per cent of this quality with all the money they have, which they waste it all on no talent and the pc brigade.
When comedy was funny and clever, not the garbage we suffer today
well said the horse shit of pc has destroyed comedy.

Ah bless 'em, such fun times watching their brilliance. Bravo
This is sooooooo gooood... and still is every time I see it even after over 15 years..🤣🤣
Used to watch this as a kid in the 80s but come across this clip by chance, never expected it to be as piss your pants funny as this.........
Great show. Really funny how the first episode pretty much set the situation like a Jenga tower, and remained that way for much of the series.
One of the funniest sitcoms ever
used to watch it as a kid in the lae 90s as it used to be telecasted in star plus...miss those days...
Absolutely a Classic watching it in 2022 Happy new year
This scene was so brilliantly constructed and executed
This is far better than the purile garbage that is trotted out and called entertainment these days.
That’s so funny, I started crying…😅
That’s what I call comedy gold with timing 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Brilliant timings and so simple but effective. Makes my eyes water still.
Could you imagine approaching BBC light entertainment and say i want to make a comedy about Natzis. Deliberate miss spelt.
'Allo 'Allo and "The Two Ronnies", the best of british comedy. I can watch them forever. "Good mouning!" "You stupid woman!". lol.
Zisten very catefully, I shall say zis conly once
Only fools and horses : )
The song being played - La vien en rosé 💛
The best! I miss them so much.
What an excellent clip!
Sweet dear little Gruber.

This show makes my day.😃😃
I love the way Renne looks at his writing pad when things go wrong.
Ah....my younger days....use to stay up late just to watch Allo Allo ❣️
The most funny scene in the whole serie
One of the best scenes
Pure class in a glass!!!
One of the best sitcoms of all time. Americans and Canadians can certainly take lessons from the English.

This must be a very early episode before Gruber and Rene became good friends 😁
Also before Mr Leclerc was in there every week with a different profession.
This was the pilot episode, before Series 1 was commissioned.
It's from the pilot episode.

Brilliant timing genius

Side splitting. Then he will reveal himself lol
A brilliant sketch well acted . Timing perfect
One of the best comedies ever...
Should make more.comdies like this. Absolutely great comfy.
just priceless!
Unforgettable scene !! 😂😂
Sooooo funny-this was one of the best shows along with**Only Fools And Horses**
Anybody knows where could this show be available to watch? It used to be on TH-cam years ago, then it disapperaed due to copyrights, I guess..
🤣🤣 been laughing for the 100th time
Fantastic comedy, Gruber was easily one of the best characters of all time, but I hated that undercover French officer, got sick of him.
Ah....allo,allo...the best🎉👍☺🌞🔝🍾👑😊😉🍻
