  • In this video I share how I ballast my Bachmann E-Z track. There are many techniques out there but I think you’ll learn a few things from my experience. Hope you enjoy!

    I think it’s worth the time and energy to ballast the tracks because it makes such a visual difference from the grey plastic of the ez track. You really can’t tell that you have used ez track where you have ballasted. Nice job.

      Thanks Derek! I agree, ballasting makes a huge difference. I think some people get a little nervous to try it with ez track but it’s certainly possible. Thanks as always for watching and your support!

    I'm new to this and have watched several videos. I like your technique. That's exactly what I'm going to do. Not sure what mudpudge is but I'm guessing a watered down glue? oh, it's modpudge. yeah man. Got it

    Great Job, I am just starting out again. I have a small setup but nothing fancy in the basement but taking it down and going to do a dream retirement project. I am very crafty so I see things hopefully coming together for me slowly and yes money but end the end I can not wait. Going to DCC super excited thanks for the tips!

    That's a nice simple way to do it and it looks good too. I can't get past losing the option to easily change my layout, or being able to put my train sets back in their original boxes if I decide to sell them someday. Is it easy to remove it all from the EZ track? Is it possible to score the ballast along the sides of the plastic base and between the joints and take it apart with the ballast stuck to the plastic base?

      Great question. I’ve had great luck using a serrated kitchen knife to score along the individual pieces of track and along the bottom of the plastic base. Then I sort of pry it up from the plywood or foam base and they come apart really easily. The ballast stays on the piece of track pretty well that way. I had to do this recently when I redesigned a scene. Thanks for watching and your support!

    Looks good, but seems to take a lot of time. I have e-z track and it works well. Haven't been able to set up a layout yet.
    Those are nice New Yotk Central boxcars! Where did you get them?
    able

      You’re right it does take a lot of time for sure. I could do about two feet of double track in two hours. And thanks, boxcars are from Bowser. They are very nice! Thanks for watching and your support!

    I like the color of the ballast on the inner rail more (the darker color). What did you use for that one?

      I used something like a pipette that I purchased at Walmart. This link has exactly what I found it store - www.walmart.com/ip/20-Pack-3ml-Plastic-Disposable-Graduated-Transfer-Oils-Pipettes-Eye-Dropper-Set-3-ml-Pack-of-20-GreenHealth/601830106?athbdg=L1600&from=/search
      Hope this helps!

    Whats a good ballast for n scale? What ballast do you recommend

    • @millvalleysub
      @millvalleysub  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t have experience with N scale but I have seen people use the fine ballast from Woodland Scenics for that as well. It might be a little large for the scale but I don’t think it would be noticeable. Thanks for watching!
