  • In the video “Building a 20 ft. trailerable Houseboat Part - 1”, we shared how we built the hull and modified a deep ‘V’ trailer.
In Part 2, "Building a 20 ft. trailerable Houseboat Part - 2", we turn the hull. That required some thought and we probably did not take a conventional way to do this.
Visit our website at www.backyardbo.... We have a lot of information for the boating public.
Stay tuned for Part 3 - Building the cabin
We wish you Fair Winds and Following Seas

From the very start to this stage of the build how long dit it take you? This had to be a very exciting day for both of you.

I like the build and admire anyone who will tackle a project like this. I cringe every time i see concrete block laied on the side like that with weight on it they are not designed to carry the weight on the side. I see people using them to hold up cars buildings etc I'm glad you got away with it. I love the boat

It's going to take a tad more weight than that hull to cause a concrete block on it's side to fail.

I've done this kind of stuff. You make it look so quick and easy, but in real life it can take days. Extremely dangerous, too. Congratulations on a clean, smooth operation.

Don't you wish we were younger with all the stuff we do when we can barely do it but we do? It just would have been fun when we were younger. It's going to be a really nice boat and a lot of fun.

It's too bad you didn't have a camera there to shoot video to upload to the video sharing website.

So how does this compare to the other small houseboat you built?I think it was a glen Martin gypsy, I know it doesn't have a 40 horsepower engine so I'm sure it's not as fast, but I'm wondering if she can take the wakes and chops on a river like the red or Mississippi.

Yes she was slower but very very stable. I think the Gypsy was better with rough seas. This boat is great for lakes.

How easy or hard do you think the plans where to follow ? I ask as we have all had those Ikea plans before ugh. Great work by the way .

These plans were some of the best, especially for first time builders.
