Guys! to have to pause the series before the episode 20 of The New Batman Adventures "Girls' Night Out" and start watching the animated series of Superman, because if you are not going to miss the magic of the crossovers, OR can see before that episode only, the Chapters 18 "Livewire" and 40+41 "Little Girl Lost".
Calvin: "Batman is nice." He is actually very nice and kind. He empathizes with these people, especially those with mental health issues and children. The way he treats The Ventriloquist (especially in the future ep) is one of the kindest things he's ever done.
DC wanted the Ventriloquist to be a rather poor ventriloquist, mangling his pronunciations when speaking as Scarface, as he is in the comics. Dini felt it would hamper the voice actor's performance and talked them out of it.
One of my favorite scenes from Justice League: the animated series, is when they go to an alternate universe where Superman lobotomizes all of the villains with his heat vision, Scarface is the one who is lobotomized, and not the ventriloquist.
One of my favourite episodes! The dynamic with Scarface, the Ventriloquist, and their henchmen made for such a unique crime gang, and seeing Batman use his magician training to his advantage was great to see.
Joe's original script only had Batman knocked out by one or two of the silver bars rather than the entire pallet being pushed onto him. "It would've crushed him like a fly. That's maybe carrying it too far".
Given how BS&P cracked down on the show for it's violence, the great thing about Scarface is that they can do all kinds of terrible things to him cause he's made of wood
The creators took a lot of their frustrations out on Scarface as a result, which is why Scarface has a more and more gruesome 'death' in every one of his appearances.
I never would've thought this was an actual character from the comics. Arnold Wesker (Scarface/ Ventriloquist) actually debuted 35 years ago in Detective Comics. For the animated series, he's voiced by George Dzundra (The Deer Hunter, Basic Instinct, Crimson Tide). This episode was a cluster of madness. It was a Gangster storyline with extremely effective psychodrama. One of the most mindbending episodes. The ventriloquist has been live-action already. Played by real-life ventriloquist Andrew Sellon during seasons 4 & 5 of the live-action 'Gotham' (2014-2019).
Ventriloquist and Scarface are one of my personal favorited Batman baddies. They are just so unique and creepy. I know they had them on Gotham but DAMN I'd love to see Batman mixed with some Dead Silence.
I love how in the justice lords episode of justice league show, Superman gives every villain a lobotomy and the ventriloquist doesn't get a lobotomy, just the puppet😂
I really like this character in pretty much any incarnation because every time they make me question the sentience of that puppet. I know it’s a puppet, I know it’s just the work of a very talented, mentally imbalanced person, but damn it if he doesn’t make me believe the possibility that Scarface is alive.
I've always thought that it would've been even cooler if The Ventriloquist had multiple puppets besides Scarface. Imagine him portraying different types of criminals who are in competition w/ each other.
In the comics the Ventriloquist NEEDS to have a puppet. When Bane breaks out most of Arkam Asylum the first thing he does is take off his sock and makes a sock puppet to help him find Scarface. When they finally get the t Scarface puppet back Scarface and Socko get in a fight over dominance.
i imagine the reason they haven't made this villain in films is that they may not want to insult people with such conditions (which for a cartoon is a very good explanation that a child could understand) or they didn't want to be accused of insulting or making fun of mentally ill people (which this series did well to let you feel sorry for The Ventriloquist ... the fear in his voice, the heartbreaking sadness and grief over the loss of Scarface)......many of Batman's villains have sad backstories and in many ways don't deserve their fates, but The Ventriloquist is legitimately innocent, wasn't a criminal, didn't vow revenge, didn't bring on his fate that scarred or transformed him i think he would make a great movie antagonist, course, the puppet would be a digital character (CGi) and look off, probably wouldn't be modeled after 20s and 30s gangster movie villains, and might be a robot, an AI, even a digital voice/program on someone's smart phone or other technological device....which would feel off and moderniized for no reason
Jeff Dunham would probably play the Ventriloquist if they asked him. He’s apparently a big Batman fan. He owns one of the Batmobiles from one of the older Batman movies.
One of the least practical villains ever still manages to be quite disturbing- a malevolent personality hidden beneath another similar to Two-Face. Despite his cunning and ruthlessness some audiences cannot take Scarface seriously, which is probably why we've never seen him in a film and only a cameo in Gotham. He also rarely has an overall goal beyond stereotypical mobster crimes, mere theft of monetary wealth instead of gassing, bombing or freezing the city.
Trivia 1:24The Boxer, is Ted Grant, aka Wildcat Ventriloquist/Scarface is voiced by a real ventriloquist - Police and law enforcement do keep tattoo databases
Andre the giant this indeed. I love the princess bride They love the princess bride One day....they'll react to it just to show how much love they have for it. We all love it.
Not sure what the plan or if you are going to watch the movies but I highly highly highly suggest you watch the Batman Beyond movie Return of the Joker. Feels the closest to a conclusion for Batman the Animated Series that one gets (plus it’s just great!!)
Curiosity, there is a underground Brazilian Batman movie where the villain is Scarface/Ventriloquist. I actually liked the movie: Batman: Na Psicose do Ventríloquo
I hope you guys react to Across the Spider-Verse & TMNT: Mutant Mayhem. The animation style is gorgeous! You should definitely react to Batman: Mask of the Phantasm immediately after S1 of The Animated Series. The Dark Knight Returns is an amazing comic book adaptation & a top-tier DC animated film. The Long Halloween & Crisis on Two Earths are really good too. I hope you review the rest of the 90s - 2000s DCAU cartoons: - Superman: TAS - Batman Beyond (+ Return of the Joker movie) - Justice League - JL Unlimited Some other animated shows I HIGHLY recommend: - The Spectacular Spider-Man - Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes - X-Men: TAS - TMNT (2003)
Ventriloquist should just be tied down and put under sedation for the rest of his life like a vegetable because just like other villains of Gotham he's a menace

Ventriloquist and scarface are some of my favourite c list batman villains.

holy crap i never noticed that before
Superman heat visions a wooden puppet
That’s an awesome piece of continuity that Superman knows it’s not wesker but the puppet so he only hits the puppet

I can’t believe Aaron and Calvin have never heard of The Ventriloquist
One of the times the animated version of a villain is arguably better/more iconic than the original comics version
Great episode with an underrated villian
George Dzunzda (voice of Ventriloquist/Scarface) also played Michael Douglas' partner in "Fatal Attraction".
Jeff Dunham would probably play the Ventriloquist if they asked him. He’s apparently a big Batman fan. He owns one of the Batmobiles from one of the older Batman movies.
I really need to know the process of hiring henchman for Scarface and the henchman‘s reaction when they realize their boss is a puppet.
I would love to see Scarface/Ventriloquist as the antagonist of the Penguin show
Hope you guys are planning to react to Batman Beyond.
i hope they react to the Justice league animated series, it's such a great show but it doesn't get recognition enough
Same though they’d have to do Superman first
@yomamsahoe8769 I second that nomination and agree with Jonas that they should do Superman before Justice League.
And Batman Beyond especially
0:18 : Calvin getting slapped 😅😅😅
ventriloquist and scar face needs more of the spotlight in batman
Ventriloquist/ Scarface is my guy 🔥! Super underrated imo.
Who wants them to react to Batman: Broken Promise?
I remember Scarface was a Easter egg in Arkham Night

Trivia
1:24The Boxer, is Ted Grant, aka Wildcat
Ventriloquist/Scarface is voiced by a real ventriloquist
- Police and law enforcement do keep tattoo databases
Genuinely one more episodes where mental illness is portrayed as a dynamic for 2 characters
Andre the giant this indeed.
I love the princess bride
They love the princess bride
One day....they'll react to it just to show how much love they have for it. We all love it.

they definitely also need to watch Mask of the Phantasm as it's an amazing movie.
And Batman and mr.freeze subzero
I can't wait for the next mister freeze episode
Best Pub Placement hahahahahaha Go Rick !!!
INTJ- someone should make a TH-cam fan short film of a horror movie where in the end the main character turns around and it was all just batman lol
Curiosity, there is a underground Brazilian Batman movie where the villain is Scarface/Ventriloquist. I actually liked the movie: Batman: Na Psicose do Ventríloquo
