DS9 remains, to this day, my favourite Star Trek series. It was captivating with its willingness to explore darker themes, religion. The fact that the station, effectively, stayed in one place by the wormhole meant that decisions made could and would make their effects known later on...consequences. It introduced story arcs that took a few episodes to develop...and this was far more engaging than the enemy/crisis of the week episodes of the past series (TOS/TAS/TNG). Best Trek series, period.

I don't think DS9 would work in today's TV environment, so "no to all." Nothing against any of the actors mentioned--most of the ones I recognized from among those you mentioned are fine, and Elba and Blessed in particular seem perfectly capable of carrying a series. DS9 worked because the stories were allowed time to grow and develop, however--characters had time to think and respond. In the Bad Robot era, that isn't the case--the "faster faster FASTER" pace of both the movies and the TV shows result in characters reacting rather than thoughtfully responding to situations. As others have mentioned--DS9 doesn't need a reboot. There is nothing that can be added today that will improve the show, and the perspectives offered in the series are still as relevant today as they were when the series aired (and since the show ended in the late 90s, one could make the argument that it was almost prescient given the developments that occurred in the early years of the 21st Century). I'm not a fan of the Kelvin timeline or the new Discovery / Picard series myself, but I realize that those series have their fans and if it is something that they enjoy--that's great, more power to them. BUT--letting these guys (the ST showrunners) redo DS 9 would be like giving a two year old a box of crayons and telling him or her to "improve upon" the Mona Lisa. Get the kids a coloring book--don't turn them loose on the Louvre.

Stargate SG1 being my favorite. Stargate savaged religion, it painted religion as evil at every turn. DS9 is the only sci-fi that did not paint religion in a bad light. I have often wonder if that was the case simply because it is not a Christian religion. Paramount the subsidiary of ViacomCBS posted this message: "We planned to make an announcement on July 21th, 2021 that Star Trek: Deep Space Nine had not only been greenlit for a 4K UHD Blu-Ray release fully restored and scanned from the original 35mm negatives, but also that a Season 8 of DS9 with the entire remaining cast confirmed to be reprising their roles. Ira Steven Behr has been working hard with other DS9 writers to create an absolutely stunning script for this new season that was due to start filming by the end of this month, but after watching this reboot pitch we have not instead decided to make a DS9 reboot TV movie that is going to be a 50 minute comedy and parody of the entire 7 seasons. The full cast is not yet confirmed, but we can confirm that it will provide a lot of laughs.. and that the role of Benjamin Sisko will be played by a white or asian guy in black face".

I would have cast him with multiple actors, preferably a different one every week. To make this work, he would have to have distinct personality traits that all the actors playing him would have to adopt. This was done successfully with John Travolta and Nicolas Cage in Faceoff and Sarah Michelle Gellar and Eliza Dushku in the Buffy episode Who Are You.

I gotta say, when you did Elba as Worf I was like "No, he's gotta be Sisko" but then saying Sterling as Sisko, I can see it.
So my only real complaint is I think Rom & Jake should be closer in age.
I'm a huge DS9 fan (favorite trek) but I'd be fine seeing a Kelvinverse version.
Reboots don't undo the original to me, so I can enjoy both.

If they did Star Trek: Deep Space Nine as an animated series, as a sequel and what happens later, I would be all for it but a big NO to a reboot.

Deep Space Nine is still the best Trek Series ever made.

Tessa Tompson would make it very easy to decide if this could be any good.
    She simply ruins everything.

    I'd rather Idris for Sisko

Galahad Knight yeah but I would rather see Kenan Thompson play Benjamin Sisko in my opinion. Just saying?

With Winn and Dukat, you also need actors who can play superficial charm. People get confused by Dukat's charm and when it wears off, they were surprised.
Also, their scenes as a couple are marvelous because neither of them are really capeable of the sort of relationship they're trying to have with the other so it's marvelous in its awfulness.
