Your reactions to the Mr. Black and Mr. White lines were perfection. Very few people notice that. This movie is a gem with very worthy sequels. Will & Tommy's chemistry made MIB what it is.
@@nsasupporter7557 I'm sure she at least recognized him from Captain America. Even though he wasn't on screen long, his voice is pretty dang recognizable IMO.
Can we appreciate the acting range that Vincent D'Onofrio has? He played Edgar in this, Wilson Fisk in the Punisher/Daredevil, Private Pyle in Full Metal Jacket and a whole host of other characters over 35 years.
Used to watch mib 1 on repeat as a kid. Always knew Vincent was an unsung hero in the acting world. Guy is amazing, in everything he does and as an adult I can now fully appreciate his crazy unique acting in this film In particular. I mean imagine being the first dude trying to act out how a massive alien cockroach would pilot and behave cramped inside of a small, decaying human body.
FUN FACT: This movie was directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, director of "The Addams Family" and "Addams Family Values" and the very tall man is played by Carel Struycken, the same actor who played Lurch.
These two made for a great unexpected duo. Played so well off each other. (If you do happen to watch the others, you'll be blown away by Josh Brolin in the third movie.)
MIB 2 is good, not as good as the first imo, but MIB 3 is an absolute must watch of a movie. The series as a whole is a great watch so if you want to you will enjoy yourself for sure.
Yes the tall actor was the same guy that played Lurch in “The Adams Family.” He also plays Mr. Homn in a few episodes of “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” which he basically plays the character the same as he does Lurch.
Vincent D'Onofrio should have won an Oscar for his performance as the bug/Edgar guy! They made a cartoon version of this that was based more on the comic books and it was awesome with super unique animation and music
I'll throw in that Men in Black won Best Makeup at the 98 Oscars, rightfully so in my honest opinion. Definitely superior to Titanic, which lost in the same category. It's also another example of D'Onofrio playing the antagonist or just an unlikable character in general. This includes Impostor, The Thirteenth Floor, The Cell and Jurassic World. Not a jab at him as an actor, by the way. Only an observation on the roles I've seen him in.
Hard agree on that one! I think an Oscar category for comedic acting needs to happen! I'm glad I'm not the only one to appreciate Vincent D'Onofrio's performance in MIB!
Out of context quote: "I would literally just do it on the floor. I would lie down on my stomach, press the paper to the ground, and do it on the floor." XD
I flew coach next to that tall alien (also Lurch from Addams family) on a flight to LA. He sat in the middle seat, but at least it was the extra leg room row. He was reading a book on veterinary care while eating a comically small package of nuts+berries with his gigantic hands. I knew who he was but I didn't bring it up until we touched down in LA. He told me he was in Rhode Island for a horror convention, followed up with "But I'm not really into those sorts of things". After meeting him I got the idea that I would see celebrities everywhere I went in LA. To my dissapointment, LA does not have celebrities everywhere you go.
Tommy Lee Jones is a long time cowboy actor. He also owns a ranch about an hour away from my land. People in town treat him like anyone else, which is probably one of the reasons he chose to live here, in Texas, rather than Kalifornia.
It always blows my mind that Edgar is played by Vincent D'Onofrio(who I mainly know from Daredevil as Kingpin). Every role I know him for he is totally unrecognizable from the others. I've seen Full Metal Jacket a bunch of times and I literally just found out that he was Private Pyle while I was looking up how to spell his name.
This isn't MIB 'canon,' but the female agent, Laurel, was called "L" or "Elle." She appeared in the animated series, voiced by Jennifer Lien, who played Kes in Star Trek: Voyager.

The coroner's actress Linda is in Dogma. I saw a comment here already reccomending that film and i concur. Alan Rickman plays a major role in that. Has the same comedic tone that he had in Galaxy Quest. 😂😂 Also, for dramatic value, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are in it as well.
Yes, Galaxy Quest, wanted to drop that one too. Another funny alien movie. With Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman and again Tony Shalhoub. Also, "Mars Attacks!" Just hilarious. And "The World's End" a more British comedy by Edgar Wright. Both with Pierce Brosnan.
It’s only “technically” based on a Marvel comic because Marvel bought the company that previously published/ had the rights to the “Men in Black“ comic while or just before the movie was made, so Marvel got to stick their name on it.
The reasoning behind giving a rookie the wimpy looking Noisy Cricket gun is to teach them that appearances can be deceiving and not to judge a book by its cover. That’s why J was chosen over the military candidates. Because he looked past the surface and saw something other than strange/scary looking aliens during the shooting test. He also didn’t automatically assume that little Tiffany was an innocent human girl, as she appeared to be. The fact that he was able to run down the alien he chased on foot also helped show that he was physically capable of handling the rigors of the job.
This film won the Oscar for Best Makeup (that rotting big man is DAMN effective) and was nominated for two others: Best Art Direction, and Best Original Score for a Musical or Comedy. ^-^
The original comic wasn't Marvel in the beginning but was eventually acquired. In the comic they also dealt with the paranormal like demons and magic and all that fun stuff.

One bit missing was the brilliant byline for the movie: 'Alias Smith and Jones'
Because of course the actors are Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones.
I know im late as hell, but I love your comments about wills outfits. Back in the 90's in the US, tracksuits was the fit.
If you liked Tommy Lee Jones, you need to watch The Fugitive. These are two of my favorite performances by him. Vincent D'Onofrio's physical performance is so underrated. It's brilliant!
ALL of the MIB movies are funny as heck, Mary.
I GUARANTEE you, if the average person had access to those forget-flash thingies, they'd abuse the hell out of them.
Oh, I do, I do!
erm ,
(flash)
I agree - people are barstewards, aren't they?
Tommy Lee Jones & Will smith together is the best one of my fav duos
This film is very funny it was a very enjoyable comedic alien film and I am glad you are watching it Mary.
All the practical effects in this masterpiece of a movie.
The sequels are worth watching. I was skeptical about the 3rd entry, but it's actually better than 'II.'
2 got way too comedic, had a cool song by Will Smith tho.
MIB 2 is also a very fun movie. Glad you took the time to react to this. Good fun. Thanks.
No problem!
Your reactions to the Black and White name jokes are great!
Number two is just as good and even though number three is very different, it is still a good ride.
This movie came back to theaters for it's anniversary back in July. It was great seeing it back on the big screen again.
Good timing to release
what? i missed it
didnt even notice the Mr Black and Mr White reaction before. so subtle but soo funny
?
This has to be one of or the best Will Smith movies, please do MIB 2 and 3
Yeah she a whole marvel mind trip to go thru.
Yeah, just avoid the fourth film!!!
@@EVGriffinJr that movie dosent exist to me
@@TyMarshall007 Understandable!!! LOL!!
@@TyMarshall007 men in Black two and three wasn’t that great either, but I definitely would watch them before that fourth film!
Welcome to the werid and funny movie, it bring me back my childhood memories and I enjoy watching this movie. Thanks for your reaction on MIB 😊🙌
This was a great film to see back in 1997 in the theater. Tommy and Will are a great duo. Great film. Mary, I highly suggest you watch Enemy Of The State, Will did such a great job along with the other actors, You'll enjoy it. Oh yeah, forgot, Marvel's Men In Black. Also, please react to Marvel's Blade. Btw, just watched Tommy in Volcano (1997) last night and enjoyed it.
you must watch Stargate (1994) with Kurt Russell and James Spader :d
You should definitely watch Casablanca, Mary.
I always assumed that the actor that played Edgar was different from the Alien version of Edgar. It still amazes me that it was the same person.
It's cool you are finally watching this. This is a great trilogy.
All the MIB are good. As others have said the Fugitive is definitely a must see.
Be great to see you watch the 2nd film! My favourite out of all the Men in Black films. Even though my fave villain is actually in the 3rd film.
