The scene of Sarah trying to kill Miles is actually genius. Sarah has experienced being hunted by someone she doesn't know for doing things she didn't even know she was going to do, so in her eyes being condemned to death makes no sense to her. And now she's in that exact position again, except this time SHE is the one hunting a presently innocent and oblivious person, and she realized that JUST before it was too late. Good storytelling.

@@17thknight I don't think the two "send-backs" occurred in the same timeline. Reese got sent back in the first one, altering the past and changing the future. In the new future, SkyNet sends back the T1000 and Connor has access to a captured T800 to send back as a protector. This, in turn, creates another new future. John would still know from Sarah's tapes what Reese said to her, though, and hence would program the T800 with the only words that could possibly earn even a little of Sarah's trust.
Time-travel gets trippy real fast, especially when you factor in that time may not be an objective phenomenon at all, but merely a product of the limitations of four-dimensional human perception. "Time is a flat circle", as Matthew McConaughey put it in True Detective.

The extended edition included a scene where Dyson's wife asks why he's working on a computer so much when his kids need their father. He shows her a new processor he's working on, modeled after the first Terminator's chip.
His rationalization was to build a processor that could replace human error. No more hung over pilots putting airline passengers at risk. He gestures to the processor he's building and says, "Meet the pilot."
He wasn't considering the military applications for his technology, only the lives that would be saved if we removed human error.

I remember the huge crowds of people watching them make it. They freeways had big stretches that were closed down for many hours just to make the movie. It's amazing how a film can be perceived a totally different way based on a lack of current marketing. For those of us who saw the original run in theatres, we came in knowing Arnold was the good guy because the advertising made that very clear. All the millennials/zillenials watching this film now are genuinely surprised when Arnold is revealed to be the hero, which I think adds another dimension of awesomeness to it.
