    Very helpful for one of the very top players in the world to break down the basic fundamentals of movement.

    1. Closed stance. 2. Wait to hit until the ball is going down. 3. Continental grip. 4. Paddle butt cap faces where the ball is coming. 5. Weight transfers and kinetic chain. 6. Finish above the shoulder, knuckle close to chin, belly button facing the target.

    Thank you since it is mostly me myself and I. Enjoyed reffing several matches in Concord, CA. In awe of your performance and play over the years :-)

    Great video and good explanation and easy to understand with your posture and slow motion demonstrations!

    This is very helpful. I started playing a few months ago and have been hitting the ball similar to the way I hit the ping pong ball. I get a lot of spin on the ball. However, It's hard to break the habit, but I'll work on it.

    Are you using the continental grip on the backhand as well? Thanks for the video.

    so because you use the continental grip on the forehand, you have to lay back your wrists to get the face straight?

    Hi Tyson, I thought you used your forehand grip when you're hitting a groudstroke, not contintental. I also come from tennis and am not sure that we use the contintenal grip from the baseline. Would you mind expanding a little bit on this concept? Thanks.

      Lots of wrist articulation by the pros vs actual grip changes. That's one thing that makes the Continental grip so useful...it's neutral and slight wrist articulation can mimic a grip change. After 35 years of tennis, I use a Continental grip for maybe 90% of shots, with a slight grip change for serious drives or high slap volleys.

      @Fer Torres
      It's not Tennis. The ball, paddles etc. Will not respond the same way.
      Big deep rallying from baseline is almost non existent. 99% of the game is played at Kitchen and dinking is critical for advanced play.
      Watch Tyson play in some videos...

      Can you describe the close stance first the open stance. You mention closed but you look like its open.
      Thanks California Bill

    How GIANT is that Tennis Racket in his hands?

    When a ball is spinning like non ones business, you have to hit it right off the ground, low. Otherwise you'll be chasing it. Pro tip :)

    I’ve played against a few tennis players and almost all off them hit ground strokes constantly

  • @sylviafisher2443
    @sylviafisher2443 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Helpful. How do you "un-teach" someone who believes that constant lobbing is the perfect ground stroke? He can't hit spin or flat, just lobs. Horrible & painful to play.

    I think you got the open & close position confused...

    • @dougdougherty5109
      @dougdougherty5109 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I assumed Tyson wasn’t confused since he’s one of the top five Pickleball players in the world and a quick Google search confirmed that he is in fact correct.

    • @kencussick3777
      @kencussick3777 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope. He's in a square stance not a closed. Google harder.

    • @dougdougherty5109
      @dougdougherty5109 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@kencussick3777 your looking at it incorrectly. His stance is closed in relation to the court, your mistaken. His stance is not in relation to the camera.
