Hi! I'm 69 years ild & have severe osteoarthritis. I'm a decent net player ( but needs lots if improvement). Need help in COURT POSITIONING, strokes I should work on, so I can get to the balls most opponents drive to me because of my present disability. Thank you!
Enjoy the brand/videos. Went to the site get an EP t-shirt but didn't see any. Signed up to be an ambassador since I meet new players almost every day. But now it says my account is blocked even before I got start using it. I'm ok with not having an ambassador link but still need the shirt. Can you help me? Drop/send a new link or can you create a video for supporters of the channel. Thanks
Love your valuable and so useful videos!! Thanks a bunch! So, any tips on how not to hit the net when returning up close or mid court? still trying to figure that one out. I started to lift the ball instead of smashing it, but it makes it too easy for the opponent. I hear just "meet" the ball, don't smash it, but I have seen experienced players, who are super tall and not smashing the ball, hit the net!! Pheeeew, that net is something alright! Haha
When I’m at the kitchen line and use my backhand, my paddle faces to the right. Could be a bone change when I broke my wrist. Anyway, because the paddle is not straight, my shot is out of bounds to the right if someone gives me a hard shot at the line. Anyway to correct this?
Another great video. I found that to improve my reaction time to speed ups and my success in returning was to (a) not focus on my partner's shot and path of the ball (only use peripheral vision) and (b) intensely focus on the opponent's paddle face as the ball makes contact. By doing these things (along with all the other instructions in this video) I can return with pressure all but super excellent shots from my opponents. When I used to watch the path of the ball from my partner's paddle I couldn't make the adjustment at point of contact because it was happening too fast.
Thanks for sharing your tip! Focusing on the opponent's paddle instead of the ball's path is a clever move. It's cool how this small shift made such a big difference in your reaction time and shot returns. Your strategy of using peripheral vision for the ball and zeroing in on the paddle at contact is something more people should try. Appreciate you dropping this insight-it's a game-changer!
I must say that the new videos are looking fantastic. The graphics makes it so much easier to visualize what you're teaching. Plus, this wholw Joshua Tree vibe is pretty awesome. Cant wait to learn more from you Connor. Take care and thank you for these great videos.
I was taught to always get to the kitchen line as soon as possible so I have been doing this for years. But now that I'm older my reaction time is not as good, When I get in a volley war at the kitchen I miss a lot of hard shots because I just don't have enough time to react. A friend of mind suggested I back off about three feet from the line to give myself more time. I recently started doing it and found that it really helped.
please do a video on specifically backing up in the court when you or your partner does a pop-up. how can i get better at recognizing the pop up faster and then backing up faster?
I've only been playing about 3 weeks, and I am learning so much from you! You have great instructional skills - the lessons are really well-designed. Kenadi was on fire in this video. I'm hoping these techniques and some Cheerios will speed me up! :)
wow, the quality of your videos has greatly improved...not that you were bad before, but much better now. you're not going through the tips "lickity split" like you were before. I really like it. please don't change.
Man your videos are A+ man loving it first time playing yesterday and addicted! Played tennis for 15 years but I'm in Ireland 🇮🇪 so we don't get the weather for outdoor or pickleball courts are indoors . Now to get myself a paddle ! Thanks again for the videos 😁
This is a good video. A lot of coaches will tell somebody just to do something for the sake of doing it because it works. You’re saying do something and then explaining why it works. Deeper learning can be had and application can now take place making it easier to remember. Very nice! Also great mental tip to stay prepared. Like a batter in baseball. They always need to expect a pitcher to go fastball. If the pitcher goes off speed then It’s much easier to adjust. If the batter expects off speed and the pitcher goes fastball, it’s getting blown by the batter every time.
Connor,, your teaching methods and skills to make it user-friendly are AWESOME... Love watching your videos... do you play pro tournaments? is your ranking 5.0?
Thanks so much! I was playing pro tournaments back when I started making videos and I got to a 6.5 DUPR. But now I just focus on helping other people :)
Very cool Connor, Dylan Frazier is a member of the Show Me PickleBall Club here in Columbia, Missouri which I belong to. Since going Pro he has been playing a great game. He comes to our yearly meetings when his schedule lets him. A full-time student at the University of Missouri here where he does his online school work while on the tour. Your court looks really good,, out in the desert somewhere.. lol.
Appreciate your videos. I’ve really enjoyed learning the game and practicing your tips. You’re clearly a Selkirk fan but what are your thoughts on the Engage Pursuit Pro and Pro1 line?
What are some paddles you recommend for a beginner that aren’t $200+ ? I have a tennis background, so I don’t consider myself a beginner in pickleball.
Question: in doubles, should you be “watching” where your partner be hitting the ball to which opponent or just be watching the “ball” on your opponent side?
Question - do you look and see every ball hit your paddle? With hand/eye sports, I find it's mostly a spacial awareness and muscle memory contact for me, unless I'm seeing but not registering?
Most of it is muscle memory and spatial awareness for me too. Repetition and practice is always king - but focusing on and watching the ball definitely helps!
JW Johnson is seriously talented and has spent a ton of time perfecting his technique on the court, which lets him rock a unique ready position. But for most of us, especially if you're not hitting that 5.0 level yet, the stance I showed in the video is gonna be your best bet. It's all about building a strong base for your game! Once you get to that crazy high level, you can start experimenting a bit more.
@@EnhancePickleball Biomechanically, what JW Johnson does makes a lot of sense in that (counter to what might seem obvious), the fastest way to move your paddle from ready position to striking is rarely by travelling the shortest distance (the dynamics of your arm very complicated). I suspect a lot of the conventional wisdom comes from tennis, a sport that doesn't require the lightning fast readjustments that you get in a pickleball hands battle. But as you say, that's a lot for a beginner to digest.
How do you recommend tracking the balls that your partner is hitting? Do you look directly at them or use your peripheral vision? Maybe some combination of both?
I prefer just to look straight ahead and use peripheral vision. The ball is always going to be coming from your opponent in front of you, so I never turn my head back.
I got it. Be like a batter sitting on a fastball. As soon as you smash it, you gotta be ready for another fastball coming right back again. Every time.
You demonstrate a high quality in your understanding, and you instruct from a solid foundation, which I find rare today. I've only responded once on TH-cam, and that was to another of your caliber, but in tennis. 54 years ago, after playing with me for 30 minutes, the number one tennis player told me I was the best player he ever hit with. I've won national doubles tournaments in racquetball and paddleball. 74 now, playing pickleball and ping pong every day. I want to encourage you to continue playing. That's been my secret over the years... I only focus on playing. You can hit thousands of balls every session if you play with others who also want to keep the ball in play. Otherwise, I'd rather hit against a concrete wall (which I have logged thousands of hours against). Play till exhaustion, short break, rinse and repeat. Watch Cara Black volleys on wall to demonstrate. th-cam.com/video/_cThQIhFSZk/w-d-xo.html
The camera that is positioned behind you has a large dust spot on the sensor. It shows as a dark smudge in the blue sky. Your sensor needs cleaning! I liked your video though.
Comment questions you have for me! I'm responding to every single one👇

You are THE best at explaining things.

That looks like Palm desert ?
Maybe Arizona ? New house new court ? A hint as to your new location?

I got it. Be like a batter sitting on a fastball. As soon as you smash it, you gotta be ready for another fastball coming right back again. Every time.
Bro either there isn't a lot of people who play pickleball or you are not getting the subs and views you deserve.
His channel has nearly 200K subs. I say that is impressive.

Who ranks me? I keep seeing all the 2.5 or 4.5 I come from volleyball and such sooo yea
During the play section you all kept your racquets lower than you instructed
Kennedy was the best
Y'all leave your off hands like limp noodles by your side. Make better use of your off hand for balance.
Where are you, in the middle of the desert?
Joshua Tree! It's a place called the Sakura Edition
it looks nice!
Knew this guy was sus when he said “Balls blasted at you from the back” 😂
LMAO! Wasn't intentional
Great video. You might want to work on your microphone setup however as the volume is a bit low.
Noted!
I wish you would speak just a little slower, or speak more clearly. Sometimes I just miss what you say completely.
You can change the speed to suit your needs. I sped it up a lot and thought he spoke very clearly and succintly.
The camera that is positioned behind you has a large dust spot on the sensor. It shows as a dark smudge in the blue sky. Your sensor needs cleaning! I liked your video though.
Who is the smoke show in the skirt?

You guys live in a compound out in the middle of nowhere.
