Thanks Kyle for this, we're doing a road trip from Seattle to Key West in our Ioniq 5, starting Friday and we need to go through Moab and Montecello on the way to a stop over in Durango. I saw on Plugshare that you were at those chargers, so I was waiting for this view of the situation. Love the Rivian and all your videos, especially the road trips.

Kyle, thanks for pointing out the safety concerns about overnight charging sessions at remote locations. This is something that I've worried about on multiple occasions. Hopefully manufacturers and charging networks will figure out a way to address this in the future. Maybe an emergency ejection mechanism that can only be reset with a visit to a service center or by calling customer service?

Haven't ever considered any other EV but I must admit that after watching all of your videos on the Rivian, that I would actually consider making a purchase decision on that one. Very intriguing. And great information about real world usage!!! Well done.

Btw when you were manually airing down your tires, you could have just used the tire air chuck (nozzle that snaps on to the tire valve stem) on the end of the hose to connect to tire valve stem and release air (except disconnect the air chuck from the hose first).

I see a Yoke steering wheel in the Rivians future. By the way, thank you for mentioning tread lightly habits while off roading. These vehicles are going to put a lot of off road newbies on the trails and things like “tank turns” if ever implemented, are NOT friendly to trails etc… Not to mention the incredible torque the EV motors can produce. Great video, keep ‘em coming!

Thought this was a great video highlighting the Rivian R1T's capability but also showing how poor the non-Tesla charging options are. Hope the charging infrastructure improves in the rural areas, especially when going to destination places like Moab. The R1T handled that muddy/snowy backroad great and you were not holding back. Definitely made the right call turning back when you did, I would have bailed even sooner having gotten stuck in the muck like that in the past.

For anyone traveling this same route (Denver area to Moab) I highly recommend taking the Cisco exit (now called "Danish Flat") off I-70 and following Highway 128 along the Colorado River into Moab. The I-70 route is shorter in time (longer in distance) but the scenery along 128 just cannot be beat.

What you don't know about off roading, is that you need to clean that dirt and mud off the truck as soon as possible. Dirt and mud gets everywhere, and can really add to the weight of the wheels and truck.

They need to sell/rent a battery pack that slides into your bed that gives you and extra 100 miles or so. You don’t have to carry it around all the time just when you plan a big trip. It would only take up 8” of height in your bed.

KC appeared to be doing 35 - 40 mph at times in Rally Mode. “Rippin it” tends to lose its charm with age, I guess. Most forest service and similar track’s I’ve driven require you to limit it to half of that speed. I remember one day a ranger kicked us off a FS back road when my buddy passed him doing about 30 on a 15 mph trail.

Really cool road trip video - this is what I've always been looking for in an EV road trip TH-cam video. Hopefully in the coming months, you can take an EV road trip to New Mexico and explore here.
Bluff, UT to Flagstaff is probably one of the most challenging drives in an EV in the US Southwest. Albuquerque to Las Cruces, NM on I-25 is a similar distance and is the last major interstate gap on Electrify America's network. I'd really like it if you could test out an EV here in southern NM, southeastern NM (Permian Basin region) in particular has a large DCFC gap.

(good to know you can charge in those places for my PHEV! Really want a R1T, but not sure if I want to pay the "new" price and wait the extra year for the reservation I have... (well, like, 9 months, but still) Have a Wrangler 4xE and do Love that, but would like to be able to drive more than 25-26 miles on electric only.... Also Looking at getting etron, or another EV (I love etron and that'd help when I take longer trips), maybe even look at your EV6 reviews? don't know about the EV6 though, I love that etron! almost picked up one in 2020 early in the year and wish I had now.
