Producers' Showcase is an American anthology television series that was telecast live during the 1950s in compatible color by NBC. With top talent, the 90-minute episodes, covering a wide variety of genres, aired under the title every fourth Monday at 8 pm ET for three seasons, beginning October 18, 1954. The final episode, Festival of Magic, the last of 37, was broadcast May 27, 1957.
Showcase Productions, Inc., packaged and produced the series, which received seven Emmy Awards, including the 1956 award for Best Dramatic Series.
Hosted by Ernie Kovacs, Festival of Magic was the first network TV magic special, broadcast on May 27, 1957 on NBC-TV. Milbourne Christopher produced and performed a bullet catch on the show which was the final episode of Producer's Showcase.
Richard Valentine Pitchford (24 November 1895 - 13 November 1973) was a master magician under the name Cardini, whose career spanned almost half a century.
Under the stage name of Cardini, Pitchford's flawless sleight of hand, effortless charm and infectious humor garnered him the adulation of fellow magicians and international audiences.
