Having worked for Lance at the Monte Carlo in Vegas for years as his audio engineer, I saw this act 1000’s of times. I knew how he did most of it. But never once in watching it over 3000 times did I ever see him mess up or reveal anything. He truly is that good, and yes an extremely nice guy and was excellent to work for!

Little known is the fact that Johnny, a magician himself, bucked the network about commercial placement for Lance. Normally a commercial comes about every 7 minutes. But Lance needed more time so as not to break the continuity of his act. Johnny went to bat for him and got the network to delay going to a break; that's the clout Jonny had! Incidentally, magicians use doves, not pigeons!

That was the most effortless, flawless, elegant and perfect performance I have ever seen. I remember master magician, Lance Burton being phenomenal when I watched him on tv as a kid, but now in my late 50’s after trying my hand at card magic myself over the last year or so, he is even more incredible than I remembered. That was a master class in all aspects of stage magic and performance. I need to point out that in addition to Lance Burtons amazing skill and presentation another element of real magic shown here, was the camera work. I wish every tv show director in the US would watch how to utilize the cameraman correctly as shown here. No one ever wants the camera to cut away from the act to focus on the judges, hosts, or audience members faces and reactions, no one wants to see that. Keep the camera on the performer at the same angle from start to finish. AGT I am talking to you!

Magicians clip the wings of the birds to physically disable them. It makes it very difficult for the bird to fly. Their natural response when disabled in this way and thrown into the air is to find the nearest visible perch to rest.

everything about Lance is 100 % true. A gentleman, the best... met him when I was 20... he stopped his Vegas show to give us , a bunch of 15-20 yr old kids a hand , stating we were the future of magic. What other $100M entertainer would do that.... i will give you a great story he told us too: durng his Monte Carlo reign, in his gorgeous theater, he would bring up a kid during the first act of his show and do an illusion, take a pic, and give the kid a Lance Magic Kit... he said once... he brought up a British kid... the kid did the routine... posed for the picture in front of hundreds of audience members... but Lance jokingly said like, " " Timmy, you don't look too excited about that Kit, would you like to have Stephanie instead... joking about his beautiful assistant ... without missing a beat... the kid said " Oh no, Father could never afford something like that ! " The entire place was rolling for 5 minutes straight.... he said it was something he'd never forget.

I was hooked on everything magic from that point on. This entire performance was great, but that Zombie Ball routine was the smoothest I have ever seen in my 40 years on earth, and I have NEVER seen the twist that he puts on it at the end. @@carlloud1187 In 1992-94, I was a member of IBM Ring 50 "National Capitol Ring". I was 14-15 years old at the time, into Stage and Dove magic. It was there, that a Magician, Mr. Sonny Narvaez, a great card manipulator, gave me this taping of Lance Burton. It change my whole perspective on Magic. I've seen Lance on TV before (Magic Castle, Nickelodeon, and Disney Specials), but this uncut and raw, Johnny Carson performance hit different.

@@carlloud1187 I am not. I can't even register at Magic Cafe due to their e-mail restrictions. I was fairly prolific as a child/teen, but now I'm a walk-around bizarrist/mentalist. I perform as something of a devilish character, with a Tom Palmer meets Max Maven vibe. I am, however, buddies with the owner of my local magic shop, Mr. Mark Stevens of Stevens Magic Emporium.

I disagree. There was a point where he was trying to produce something from his hand and couldn't make it happen, so he turned to his other side and did the same trick again, with more success.Talented, not flawless.

I had the pleasure of seeing Lance Burton perform live in a small theatre a few years ago. He even took my son up on stage and proceeded to produce a dozen silver dollars out of Orion's hair, ears, neck, elbow, etc. And then he was a complete gentleman afterwards, with how he talked with my son on stage. What a class act. :-)

So cool! That magic effect is called "the misers dream". Lance Burton was just a kid who also went up onstage and he had coins pulled out of his ears, elbow, hair.etc. That same magical effect that Lance performed with your son, is what motivated him to become a Magician.
