I discovered this guy around the end of 2015 and I binged so much of this work. I even found his website which he had done himself (you could tell he wasn't a web developer lol) and I reached out to him telling him that I loved his work and I offered my services to re-do his entire website for free. He graciously accepted and offered to give me some signed stuff as payment but a couple of months later he passed away from complications from a hernia surgery that caused him to have multiple stokes... RIP Tom!
Tom was so great. He had a unique look for a magician, a tall, gangly sort of nerd with a butter smooth voice, a perfect delivery, and some unique tricks. RIP my man.
I love how perfectly he executed this act. He didn’t miss any tosses into his mouth and he perfectly spaced out those 4 cigarettes when he smiled. I saw other earlier versions of his act where he had a really hard time tossing smokes into his mouth like that but he still handled it really well

This is from a BBC show, "Stuff The White Rabbit", which was supposed to be the antidote to the more usual mainstream magic shows. It only had a very short run - one series in 1997 - because the BBC in their wisdom broadcast it at 11pm on a weekday.
Love this illusion, completely suspends your disbelief while he uses practical tricks and tactics to avert your attention and in the end subvert your expectations thus making the act feel even more impressive than it already obviously is.
I feel really bad watching this, after finding out he was in a lot of pain doing this, and as a result of the trick, couldn't get health insurance for nearly ten years.
Insane. First thought: Those cigs had to be fake, but searched that is was indeed real and he had alot of pain during the actions. He said it was the laughs and reactions from the audience that motivated him and kept him going on. Thats incredible. No wonder why nobody else does this. Unique!

Right before he puts the last napkin in, the one he shoved in really fast he palms the entire wad in his hand, he does it extremely fast from tons of practice, you have to slow it down to really see it, he’s really good at it. He’s not swallowing them. He would get a extreme amount of nicotine poisoning and die. Very impressive.
