WHAT’S EHLERS-DANLOS SYNDROME?
The Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes (EDS) are a group of more than 13 genetic connective tissue disorders that affect the joints and ligaments, blood vessels, gastrointestinal tract, and autonomic nervous system, among others. The most common type of EDS is hypermobile EDS (hEDS), which used to be known at type III. Some of the most common symptoms and co-morbidities of hEDS include chronic joint pain, joint instability and dislocations, dysautonomia, and GI tract dysmotility.

Thank you so much for posting this,my cat diagnose leukemia and lymphoma cancer today, I cried so much, doctor said without chemo he only can survive 3weeks,with chemotherapy maybe 15 months. 😭😭😭😭😭

I've watched your videos on POTS and hEDS over the past few months because I have POTS and am in the diagnostic process for hEDS. Then I got the news a week ago that my precious kitty (Piggy) likely has IBD and possibly lymphoma. We're doing the IBD treatment, including the prednisone and will decide if a biopsy for lymphoma is necessary in a few more weeks. Piggy does not take the meds as well as your cat, but we're working on it! I SO appreciate your videos right now. Having chronic illness and a sick cat can be a lonely and difficult experience (especially when you add a clueless husband and wild toddler to the mix), but watching you makes me feel less alone in this.
I've started prednisone on my 11yr old cat yesterday. She's been so very lethargic I hope she perks up soon 🙏

Our cat has asthma and is on a prednisone but just half a pill so the cat pill pockets are easy to give to her. We also have had the CatIt fountain for a few years and she loves to drink water now. We take the flower out, it's easier for her to drink. Awesome job giving medicine

Hey Izzy! I just wanted to tell you that I officially received my HEDS diagnosis on Thursday (2/27) ! It feels so nice to be validated. The dx came from a geneticist (who just went over the criteria and family history) and bc she is considered a specialist, other doctors can’t counteract it either!
Also your cat is beautiful and you are such a good kitty mom! ❤️

Thank you for this. Our Layla cat was diagnosed with asthma and she has coughin fits daily so she had to be out back on prednisone. Today was the first day back on it and with the same bottle type and syringe as the one you use for your kitty. Your video helped my husband and I give it to her for her first time. Thank you times a jillion! I always feel like a bad mom after having to hold her while giving her meds. I’m like “SHE HATES MEEE.” But you’re right… we do it because we are GOOD moms. Thank you so much for this!
I have hEDS and my kitty has this same thing too. We don’t do chemo yet, because of kidney disease... so it’s tricky but she’s nice and good with weight now ❤️
Thanks for posting this. My little guy was just diagnosed with lymphoma so we need to give him 2 antibiotics and and a steroid. Hope your cat feels better!
Thanks for making this video, as I wanted to see what administering the meds would be like in real life (including everything involving the gloves and refrigeration). That level of detail is often skipped in other videos. My kitty hasn't been diagnosed yet, but he has many of the signs. We're going to get his biopsy done soon.

I just found out my kitty who is only 2 years old has a rare form of lymphatic cancer. I am waiting for her chemo pills to come in now and I ordered a piller. I was hoping it would be liquid so it would be easier to give her. You give me hope!!

Oh wow. I have EDS, and my dog has IBD too. He is on Budesonide because it works directly on intestine, instead of effecting the whole body. He is doing pretty well. I hope your kitty does well.
How is your dog doing with the Busemide? Unfortunately my kitty just passed away last Monday (11/29/21) from uncontrollable IBD. My vet mentioned Busemide, but I thought it might be too much for her little body. As she's only 4lbs & very thin. I wanted to try CBD oil first & was going to buy it, but wasnt sure which one and then last Sunday she seemed more weak, still I didnt realize she wouldn't make it. If only I would of bought the CBD and tried it or tried the Busemide, she still would be here with me. Miracle is 6yr 7mos & 1 day. I had her since she was a kitten (born in my home).

We have to keep our chemo in the fridge, but the prednisone doesn’t need to be refrigerated. Pls check with your vet if you read this
aww your such a good cat mommy! I cradle my cat like a baby but a little more upright to give him liquid medicine that's in a syringe, he can't really move away from me as much as trying to give him it standing. oh and I totally tried my cats fountain to show him how and it works lol
You are doing a terrific job! Thank you for the video. Our can probably has CLL (a chronic form of Leukemia). Is the chemo you are giving your cat called Lukeron (also know as Chlorambucil)? Your cat looks much healthier than ours does right now as he has lost 2 pounds and is losing muscle as well as fat. Thanks again for the video. Steve/OHIO
About 2 months ago, we added Lukeron to his Prednisolone and he has restored his weight and he is doing much better. Every day is a gift!
@@Brookside975 Good Luck with your kitty. i unfortunately just lost my beautiful kitty, Miracle to uncontrollable IBD. My vet suggested Busemide, but I was afraid to use it on her and chose other holistic ways like pumpkin puree and other OTC meds for cats, nothing was working. I wanted to try CBD oil, but wasnt sure which one to buy. Thought I'd try the CBD first, then last option Busemide. Now, I'm thinking I was afraid of something (Busemide) that I had no idea about. One of my vets advised against giving it and the other wanted to. Being a concerned cat mom, I put it as a last resort type of thing. Last Sunday 11/28/21, I noticed she was unsure of herself to jump, felt weak I guess and needed help to be lifted onto my lap. She passed last Monday, 11/29/21. I am still so devastated and in disbelief. Her name is Miracle and she is 6yr 7mos & 1 day old. I had her since she's a baby, born in my home. She looked peaceful, which is good, like she's sleeping kind of. I know she is with me & her cat family here "in spirit".

@@debbieshomes6984 I am so sorry for your loss. I know how much you loved your baby! All we can do is try. We lost our beautiful Mr. Lucky this past August 27th. He was down to 6 pounds and starting to lose control of his bladder. I was syringe feeding him the last three months. In hindsight I should have put him down two months earlier, give or take, but our wonderful vet felt he still had some quality of life. I will always miss him. He was 13 1/2 and lasted about 18 months from the time of diagnosis. He chose our house to come into our lives when he was about 8 weeks old. He made our lives so rich with his love. Hope you may have another kitty to share your love. We are not there yet, maybe some day. L'Chaim.

I do have other young cats. I have Miracle's mommy and her brothers & sisters. We all feel her loss. I am seeing signs now and have been. I had a dream with Miracle where she was fine. Last Monday in fact I received another sign from her in a TH-cam Asmr video go figure! I was so happy. I knew immediately it was for me and told my cats that Miracle is here and they all came over to me to see her. I told them she is here in spirit. They really wanted to see her though.
I took Miracle's sudden & unexpected passing very hard. I couldn't help my emotions & was crying in front of my other cats. I try always not to do that. I found some TH-cam videos abt pet loss and it helps. Looking back I remember what this woman said. It was a motivated mediation as if you are walking thru a forest on a trail and u then see a door and stairs, u walk up the stairs and open the door and u see your loved one (furbaby) happy and spend time with her, hug her and then its time to leave, even though we dont want to. Look back and know that she is happily playing. U can always visit again. I replay this in my head now, bc really at the time, I was a complete mess and it realky didnt do anything, but make me think, which is good.
Its also good to ask our beloved pets to come into our dreams. This TH-cam lady said they can't come right away bc of our grief. The first sign I received was a few days later. Miracle came into my dream abt 2 weeks after. In all honesty, I really can't believe that she isn't physically here. She's here in spirit and gives me signs so thats great! My father who is in Heaven told my spirit a few yrs ago (Summer 2012) that he is with me "wherever I am". So thats great to know, very comforting.
Maybe one day you can open your heart to another beautiful soul? Maybe fostering might be good? U can save a life and get them out of the kill shelters. Mr Lucky found you, so glad u had each other for as long as u did. Precious memories. Focus on those to help u thru.

I think I have to start this on my cat. She was diagnosed with small cell lymphoma of intestines. I was just prescribed prednisone. Oncology is calling me next Tuesday with they are back from vacation ti discuss chemo. I’m wondering if this is what I will need doing some. I read online chemo is usually given once a week for so many weeks. Is that how yours is going ? I have no idea about the prednisone. I have a ton of questions for the dr next week. My cat is 2 (3 in August) and has an open diagnosis, but she's also on chemo (chlorambucil) and steroids (prednisolone) since last month. They recently put her on antidepressants too (mirtazipan) because she's dropped from 3kg at her peak to 2.2kg over the past 6 months.. I hope Mei will do as good as Charlie is doing!
My cats Chemo med comes in the mail in a box with many ice packs. It has the bio hazard logo on it and says must keep refrigerated. I also wrap my cat in a towel. My niece who is training to be a vet calls ot the cat burrito and taught me it. Just may help those who cats are not as chill as this woman's cat. I also do Chemo every other day per my vet. My cat went weeks without eating and since going on chemo eats like a champ!

@Ran Z it was a process. I was going to the vet once a week for three weeks. I tried prescription food through Chewy. He still would not eat. But, during those visits, he always got an IV bag of fluids. They can actually go longer than humans without food. We narrowed the problem down to two possibilities. A digestive issue or cancer. About 24 hours after his first chemo treatment he was eating. I was doing chemo everyday, then every other day, and now I am in every three days.

@Ran Z I forgot about the prednisone. We were there as well. My cat turns 11 next month, and I thought he was a goner. But, the chemo was amazing. He runs and jumps like nothing happened, and he is "elderly." Chemo affects cats way different than humans. For example, no hair loss or lack of appetite.
I have so many rescued animals so everyone is on a feeding schedule. I will administer the chemo then feed him his dinner. I have an alarm on my phone for every third day now, or else I get forget. My cat assumes the position now knowing he does not get fed unless we do the medication. He was violent in the beginning. If it works, your cat will be on it forever. Definitely, buy medical grade gloves in bulk to protect yourself.
Hello, my cat just recently dianosed with high grade lymphoma, and is very sick, shes an older cat with chronic kidney disease.
They want me to give chop chemo or multidrugs combo, but it was so expensive 10k max, only for the meds.
What type of chemo drugs were you giving?
Whats ur cats prognosis?

Hi Izzy! Our late Greyhound Gracie was tentatively diagnosed with IBD at the grand old age of 13. We brought her symptoms under control in just over 24 hours by using a dog kibble made just from salmon & potato. Do they make a kitty kibble with similar ingredients for little Charlie??

So funny. I did that to my cats fountain. Hey so the vet told me they don't have liquid prednisone. I have such a hard time giving her the pill. How much is chemo treatment? My cat has lung cancer and was told she'll need it. I'm happy I can do it at home. Be alot cheaper. But how much did it cost? Please, I need answers. My baby is only 10 and I can't lose her. I give cat fish oil since yesterday and life's gold drops I heard works well for cats with cancer.
My cat, a senior cat was diagnosed with linfoma. I have to start with his treatmente and i hate the idea cause i am very scared that the one for the quimio may cause him other health problems. In my case is with tablets. Metilprednisolona and Leukeran, the 2nd one requires to be fridge .

I'm deathly allergic to cats but I've had to give prednisone to dogs before. One had idiopathic hemolytic anemia and the other had mastocytoma. The one who had hemolytic anemia survived thankfully and she's still salty af all the time lol. Though for dogs it's in pill form so it's way easier to give it to them. I'm sorry your cat has to go through this it's rough.

That’s how I have to give my cat her pred. She has end stage lungs due to untreated asthma(past vets fault)!
I live in the UK, & my vets told me that they believe my 14 year old maine coon has either bowel cancer or IBD, but that they can't fully diagnose or treat him for either because of his diabetes 😞
He does MUCH better than my girl that I need to give chemo to. I have to wrap her in a towel so she can’t move, and then hope and pray that it works. But she always struggles and squirms so the success rate is low.
Your video gives me hope. My cat may be starting chemo. She has had cancer this year and was treated with pill prednisone. It seemed to be going in remission (lower body), now she has it on her nose. I'm so scared that I've spent half the day crying cause I don't know what is going to happen.

If I did chemo the doctor would have done it in sterilzed place with them wearing full sterilized gear for about 16 weeks and cost me about $6,000 at least. Nothing in this video was even touched by the doctor. I'm glad I went the path I did regardless. I did pallative care which she was given pill each day to help slow down cancer. My dear cat died in February but I felt I gave her the best life I could. I feel like chemo may have ended her life sooner with stress and that chemo is hard enough for humans much less little sweet kitties. My dear cat ate whatever she wanted, even played with her toys and just was her spicy self up to the last couple of weeks of her life.

Some veterinarians believe prednisolone is best, as prednisone may not be metabolized by the cat's liver properly.

im sure you already know this but the syringe you’re using is smaller units. the “2.5” is actually 0.25ml. im sure you know already though and this is such an old vid too !

Our cat has been diagnosed with cancer today. So we really have to think what to do now. Prednison will only slow things down and chemo will be a little too much giving his age (14) 😔

I'm sorry your 12-year old was just diagnosed. I'm really not sure...it probably really depends on the cat. My cat is I think 12 also and he's doing great on the medication. I'd definitely ask your vet about your cat's life expectancy with treatment

He's actually doing great. He's gained a lot of weight and barely throws up now. I'm surprised and so delighted to see him this well. I'm wishing you the best of luck and I really hope it works well for your cat :)

But he has a good appetite and eats good.
He is thin tho.
I’m not sure if he has lymphoma since it looks so similar in the symptoms.
He does throw up too much & sometimes has diarrhea.

Our little guy was diagnosed with IBD and Lymphoma 8 months ago. I think it's funny that our chemo needs to be in the fridge but his steroid doesnt hahaha.
Cats should be on prednisolone, not prednisone. Prednisone is converted to prednisolone by the liver but cats don't have the enzyme in their liver to convert it so cats are given prednisolone from the start. If your vet is giving your cat prednisone he/she is wasting your time and money.
I’m so sorry. I have gone through chemo and am tapering off of prednisone. The prednisone is some powerful stuff. I’m sure your vet has told you that the steroid can increase his appetite. You will need to limit his food.
he actually is very underweight and he needs to gain a lot of weight. he barely eats and now he's eating a bit more which is great! if i limit his food, he'd starve
My IBD cat lost his appetite completely, he has been on prednisolone 5mg daily for 2 weeks and increased to 7.5mg daily from today, because 5mg did not help his appetite at all

I think you need to be careful with cancer treatment and other cats in the house, they should use separate food and water bowls and also toilets, licking each other could be a problem too

Oh I'm so sorry to hear that you had to put your cat down. That's honestly the worst and so heartbreaking. also thank you for asking about my cat. He's doing really well and I'm so so happy about that. He's gained a lot of weight and isn't getting sick as much.
