Great video. In Pennsylvania the new electrical grid that cuts through our region is steel and connects to the local windmill and fracked gas resources for electricity generation. It's designed to never burn and element proofed. Sounds like that should be the new Belize standard
If belize was serious about energy independence they would start off with removing the VAT tax on solar equipment. They take a expensive option and make it super expensive.
I was in Placencia last week. While waiting for my order at the Burger Joint on Placencia Rd., another young man doing the same thing said, "excuse me sir, did you know the power is going out tonight?" I said, "oh really, when". He said, "now until 9. It was 6pm.
Man I love the burger joint, best burgers in Belize in my opnion. Yes the government really needs to get a handle on this power situation. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment
Thank you for a "boots on the ground" report. Much appreciated. My view: its a utility system. Every part of it will eventually fail. Some before the scheduled useful life and some after. Fires and hurricaines happen. This should all be part of the infrastructure plan with a sinking fund in place for replacements. That is what a monoply with guaranteed rates of return is responsible for. Growth needs to be accomodated. There are many ways to address this on the supply and demand sides. Thanks again!
My family and I are missionaries in the San Ignacio area Cayo district. We love Belize and we love to believe in people. When we were down a few weeks ago we just recently started experiencing the power outages in the San Ignacio area. It's definitely makes working, serving and sleeping a bit difficult without power as to the mangos, the bananas, another fruits. And do not forget about the cashew tree with its fruit. Just found your channel, subscribed, enjoying watching and hearing the truth
Thankyou for watching we were just up by San Ignacio today, we went to go see the damage from fires in Mt Pine Ridge. It's hard to see it now mostly burnt. We appreciate you commenting on our video. Stay Blessed.😁😁
Just bought an old abandoned farm with huge old Mango trees, absolutely love it! Had a fire get near our farm, but thankfully the fire was able to be controlled. Belize definitely needs to improve the power grid, we will be on solar because we’re rural but that ends up being pretty expensive. Glad you are sharing about your journey here in Belize, people need to see more realistic information on Belize, not just the advertisements from realtors. our family has a small channel as well if you want to check it out. Exodus family Belize.
Yes the fires have been really bad this year, glad to hear you came out ok. And we agree with you on the always smiling realtors...🤣🤣🤣Thankyou for watching and commenting and maybe we will all run into one another one of these days. Love your page...😁😁
Glad you mentioned power in Belize. I was in San Pedro in April/May and had 2-3 power outages up to 11 hrs. in 10 days. Ambergris Caye is "exploding" in development, all Americans, Canadians want AC. Do the math, it's not gonna work. What about hydro in Belize? There are mountains, lots of sunlight = solar. I spent 12 years on Maui and same, power is the key.
Yes everyone is building but not adding infrastructure for all the new projects, almost daily San Pedro power consumption is still in the red and that's with the hydro dam in Cayo working...
Yes it is when I was growing up in South Florida the farmers would have to chase us kids out of mango trees, which was always a good laugh for everyone. Thanks for watching and commenting. 😁
Why do I hear wind in all the videos I've watched about Belize in the last couple years, but have never seen a windmill as an alternate/augmentation to solar?
We actually live in a windy area in Belize, we are in the foor hills of the Maya Mountains and we have a different weather pattern than most of Belize which is nice because even on 100 plus degree days the night air is usually around 70 to 75 all year and a nice cool breeze. But don't see many windmills here probably because there isn't that much open land for a constant wind.
I absolutely love your videos! thank you for being truthful about what you're experiencing in Belize and sharing it with us!
Thankyou for watching us.😁

Yes something has to change here... when people stop coming here and spending money then things will change...Thanks for watching and commenting. 😁

We agree 100 percent, people need the option without being taxed to the bone. Thanks for watching.
If they remove the VAT tax the government isn't making any money out of it. Simple formula. No difference here in Canada.
Thank you for your point of view.

It's a privilege to be able to harvest fruit off trees, for free!

It would be a good idea to mandate all new larger construction projects and government buildings to install solar that ties into the grid.
You would think right. Thanks for watching.
