Wow the guy loved music and knowledge about it, sad he would die soon after... And this was a long time ago... At least he is remembered, thanks Scottish TeeVee!
Great to see SAHB getting attention. They are particularly important to me. Thanks! You are a constant surprise. Let's hear our man tell us about it! Here we go! :)
Obviously, Alex knew his music. And it shows here -- he sounds more like a rock music historian than a rock star.... The thought that Hamburg was seminal not only to the Beatles but to the 'beat music' that hit in the early 60's makes total sense. The idea that the drummers got tired and that emphasized the beat makes sense (a lot of Oz rock historians think the powerful beat in Oz Pub Rock came from bands needing the songs' basic elements to be heard over the drinking crowds in the echoey 'beer barns' -- another case of the atmosphere influencing the music). Thanks for posting this vid. I was an Alex Harvey fan ever since first hearing "Faith Healer" on Canadian radio while camping with my folks in the woods of NE WA state. Then I saw the album a few months later. Played it to death. SAHB rules.
When I first heard Bon Scott, on R. Australia months before the first US AC/DC slbum was released (and flopped -- but as we all know, that changed a few years after), he reminded me of Alex Harvey, in vocal delivery, and also in some of the attitude in the lyrics. So I think you're spot on.
@@chriscampbell9191 Yeah when I discovered Alex a few years ago I was totally amazed I had never heard him mentioned in the same sentence as Bon Scott . Especially being a huge AC/DC fan my entire life, particularly the Bon years. Just listen to "Framed" and "Gang Bang".. you'd think they were Bon even! I always thought Bon's style was totally his own, but after hearing Alex and finding out that Bon was indeed a huge Alex Harvey fan, I now know he had a real influence on Bon, & he deserves more credit.
When speaks about Fender its pure spirituality. Every preacher and every fuckin politician must close mouth in front of these words, special in this time. Rip Alex ,we miss you ❤

The original Bon Scott

Alex would have been 89 next month. Sensational was an apt word to include in his band name.
