This car is quicker than the numbers suggest. Traded in my 2019 i30 Fastback N for a 2021 i20 N-Line 48V 101PS DCT. I did it because of herniated discs and worn facet joints, way less painful drive and still a bit of fun. Now i can drive a slow car fast instead of a fast car slow because people hogging the passing lane.
We like a good N, however this engine whether it be this or the Bayon is far more rapid than you’d give them credit for, and yes that appeals to us too - you can use virtually all of the power all of the time, win win and the comfort difference and smart looks just add to it, thank you Enforcer
@@PlanetautoUK I got a call today and it will be with me at the end of the month OMG SUPER EXCITED!! I'll drop a comment to let you know how I get on after pick-up!!! Woop Wooooop!!!!
I got mine over a month ago now and I absolutely love it. I’ve got the N-Line in the same colour as this. Mine is the 120hp engine with the auto box. I get what you mean about the plastics but many others are the same. I drove a Fiesta this week and much prefer my i20. It’s so brilliant to drive. Don’t understand tha mummy and daddy cup holders!
Spot on verdict Barry, we’d say it’s neck and neck with a new DSG, smooth, gear changes virtually undetectable in natural driving, with a quick kick down - hope this helps Althurules
Looks awesome i love it i can’t find any contender tht doest it all at this price or even a bit higher..jazz looks horrible, would you pick jazz over i20 for same price ?
@@PlanetautoUK no i talked about normal jazz vs normal i20 so you would pick normal jazz ? Interesting, jazz is only 7k less than a golf 8 man seems criminal to pick it over golf haha
Parking Assistance was standard on the Ultimate, meaning it’s highly likely on the N Line, however we’ll have to check whether it’s DCT only, depends what it includes.
Thanks very much, we love the i10 my wife bought a Premium 6yrs ago and is now looking to upgrade to maybe an i20 or even the new Bayron that you reviewed. Love your down to earth reviews, thanks again Geoff.
@johngonzalesphotography7056 thank you John, hmm sometimes specs differ from country to country or are available as options, I wonder if this is the case here?
13.5 HP ISG means its probably the most powerful mild hybrid ISG around. Then why I wonder does it still emply a turbo⁉️🤔Also puzzling is why not a CVT ⁉️ I mean with an ISG that powerful and a start-stop system, the entire stalling speeds can be left to it allowing Direct Drive of the ICE to CVT. Direct drive CVT is F1 stuff which can patchup for thr loss of a turbo charger. We dont have this powerplant for our i20s here in India but there is a brilliant MPV called Exter which Hyundai has launched based on the i20. A 3 cylinder, 1 liter mild hybrid CVT powerplant in the Exter would be great. Ofcourse it will need 3 row seating.😉
Most motors of this class are like this, it would have been nice like I mentioned for the Ultimate to have say a padded rear arm rest, and padded centre area etc. I doubt we’ll see much more refinement moving forward, a touch maybe, thank you Wayne
Annabelle answer to your question; yeah definitely i could! As I've said in previous reviews Hyundai/ Kia have 'come on' leaps & bounds in a very short time 😀.gone are the days of bland looking interior & not the greatest of style. the interior on the i20 might have some hard plastics but that is the normal for cars in this category. I like the colour combination of the interior & it has a good spec too. The 2 tone exterior in dragon red with black roof just suits it 👌 all in all if you had said to me a few years ago if I would buy a Hyundai I would have said "Err...." now they have upped the anti I would definitely consider...so what do you think Annabelle..could you see yourself in one 🤔?? Excellent review as always planet auto 🚘 👌 👏
The red/black is stunning and when sun (rarely!) shines it look like a candy apple red and just looks so deep. Agree that Hyundai/Kia are definitely improved of the originals like the Pony and Pride
Thank you for the kind words, David. I could definitely see myself in an i20. As a smaller runabout, I would have one in a heartbeat. Hyundai’s new design language really has something going for it. *A
@@PlanetautoUK when you look back just a few years how 'boring' 😪 their cars were then & ypu you look what they are making now there in a different league rivaling there contenders 👌

@@PlanetautoUK tbh i would have taken the Bayon if it wasn't for the 9-10 month waiting period.
The Bayon connected more with me and seemed far quicker with the same powertrain, both drive very well though, enjoy Enforcer
THIS is THE best review I have seen on TH-cam and I have watched many since ordering mine. OMG I can't wait !!!!
Thanks guys x

Thank you Barry, the plastics don’t detract, I like the interior as for the driving, it’s excellent. Random as 😆😊
Any cons for the dct in slow/high speeds?
@@thurules no not all. It’s better than the VW DSG in my opinion and is quick changing and very smooth. You can also use it in a manual mode

Thank you Jap - Yes, easily enough, it rocketed along 2 up even with our statures 😀
@PlanetautoUK haha thank you

Our youngest car is 1999 😀 oldest 1991
Sharp looking car . People will buy them when they can’t buy a Fiesta .
They’ve got a lot going for them
so whats the difference with the 1.0T gdi N line ?
There’s a breakdown of trims on the Hyundai website and there’s a link in the description to make it easier 😀
I've ordered a new N line with a manual gearbox and there's no park assist available as an option, is it standard?
Parking Assistance was standard on the Ultimate, meaning it’s highly likely on the N Line, however we’ll have to check whether it’s DCT only, depends what it includes.
Wish we got these in Australia
It looks like just the i20 N for the moment, Michael.

I was just looking at the Hobart Launceston dealer no i20’s listed as new, I do see 2 we don’t get too Staria and Palisade
We got our recently. 1.2 petrol 84 hp . I has a lot of tech inside, I would just want stronger engine for it...

@@PlanetautoUK maybe in a couple years time 🤞
Manufacturers seem to be pushing bigger EV’s family upwards, need a proper hot hatch like R5, Mk2 Golf - I like the Seat Mii Electric 😀
No room for a spare wheel, are they on run flats or gel repair kits?
I’d say inflation kit, this is the challenge with MHEV, it sits quite a few times in various cars in the wheel well. Thank you Geoff

hyundai i20 1 T-GDI 100hv 48V 7DCT black hybrid. I am from finland.

Yes you’re right as the MHEV is there - theres no option for a spare wheel under the carpet anymore Gerald.

we have i20 in India, but interiors are far inferior.
