While I normally agree with Ava's analysis, I'm really shocked by how terrible her take on political funding and democracy vouchers is. If there's one thing the last 5 years of politics should have thought us, its that grassroots canvassing and social media strategy can galvanize a political movement even without the use of old hat strategies like leafleting. Whats more, by giving everyone a democracy voucher, it would incentivise greater political engagement and awareness amongst the general public, something we desperately need.

bad topic for the tories. They did nothing for 14 years, and are on record as never saying anything. whereas starmer and labour MP's like phillips have been all over this, increasing prosecutions, helping victims, making a difference. Anyone calling for another inquiry is just scoring political points (and failing), we need action not words, which is thankfully what labour and starmer is delivering. starmer was very impressive, and strong, gave a good performance, backed up with a great record. The fact these presenters still attack him is just getting childish at this point. I think its becoming increasingly clear they lack real experience and are too in the media bubble, more interested in political point scoring than issue, and have no real appreciation of how things actually work outside of their bubble. They go on like this much longer, ava in particular, and they will go down the road kay burley and others have gone. You also normally attack starmer for being bad at PMQs, now you attack him for being good at it..... and ava's worst take is on vouchers, its a system where every person has equal impact, the current system gives the rich more, but for a reform/tory like her I suppose it comes naturally to want inequality.
So, canvassing. It's about expensive paper and ink? Surely that can be capped and funded by a pool for registered candidates? Even expences and a catchment, with mileage allowance? Yeah fairground rides are deffo death machines now.

Boris Johnson called Peter Mandelson a “Tank-top wearing bumboy” While it’s not the language I would use and does not represent my view of Mandelson, I suspect it will be how JD Vance sees him.
the democracy vouchers idea has been implemented in australia, no?
I think that’s a bit of a misnomer saying that conservatives innately care about peds
If you meant cared about putting their children into those spaces and arenas where they’re likely to be abused.
Church’s, faith schools, the desire to restrict sex ed, private boarding schools. All spaces and circumstances where peds are given access and ability to abuse.
18:05 there literally was a cover up though 😂
Less than 20 seconds and he's already playing with his microphone - he just can't leave it alone.
How would the state know the independents?
……You do have to register to run in elections.
Its not a government debate its a cover up.
What's with 'Nigel'? I voted Green, I like these guys, but they're still Denyer and Ramsay to me. 'Nigel' is icky. Everyone calls him 'Farage'. I suspect his own mum calls him 'Farage'. Dugmore, Santina, Campbell - sort it out.
But the green party really need a name change to neo-colonial communist party. Their ideas on open boarders requiring dramatic urbanisation of tge UK while also wanting rewilding, suggestionss they think poorer nations abroad should have the responsibility of feeding us, which rather a neo-colonial ideology.
@@morrisizing Quite the McCarthyan strawman you've built there.
@@morrisizing "suggestionss they think poorer nations abroad should have the responsibility of feeding us"

@@morrisizing I absolutely agree with them on the idea of open borders. As a goal for some time in some distant future when it is feasible, not as a policy for implementation in the foreseeable future, as they've repeatedly made clear. Don't you? One reason I love the Green Party the longer I'm in it is I've not yet heard one criticism based in reality. Criticisms always rely on misrepresentation. Which suggests to me they have a damn good platform.
@@petemarchetto4998What kind of adult uses the word "icky"?
I'm with Ava on the £5. What about dark money, online campaign and also it doesn't fix musk who owns a social media platform. Also the BBC and other TV / radio shows give platforms by national votes (obviously reform get more air time) but the rest is true
Can't spell Kermit without Kemi - what a muppet. Also it's pointless to criticise any debate for being "point scoring" - literally all politics is point scoring we have a massive vote every 5 years.
As always Ed is the best
it all points to a willing ignorance of crimes against the less advantaged. it’s ugly because of the lack of minerals to deal with the real contributing factors. There absolutely is a cultural difference, to talk it down is to repeat the same ignorance.
Loved the discussion on political party funding, confused that state funding of parties (which is by far the most common alternative) didnt get an examination
I can't tell if Ollie & Ed are deliberately winding up Ava here on the "democratic vouchers" or they genuinely don't see the issues with it. Big parties get private funding and this democratic voucher from individuals who know who they are. Independents get... nothing from private funding and nothing to nil from democratic vouchers as no one knows who they are.
Ed is officially the only normal person on this podcast
14:48 Ed's arms look like teeny tiny Ken doll arms because of the camera angle and I love it.
The lad at Loudoun Castle theme park got snagged on the roller coaster cart as he was trying to free it - it got stuck and needed a shove to get it moving.
Olly is being a bit naive thinking that Starmer could appeal to the morality of the Tories by being sincere in his cries for unity on the issue.
Nigel Farage would not do the things he claims if he did stumble into power
Maybe Eva should get better informed how parties are being financed in other countries before getting hysterical...Germany for example
Not all women who disagree with you are hysterical
Funny it is not the torture and rape of children that sickens you, but someone bringing it up
Regardless of their political affiliation
What does that say about your motivations and psychology
The politicisation point scoring on this is absolutely dispicable, the victims are completely being forgotton and the actions needs like investment in services, youth work, social services and better policing that listens to victims, doesn't discredit or dismiss or see a not credible.they were failed by all these services, all services which have been underfunded and cut under the Tories.
It still does not excuse the complete lack of empathy or understanding the victims were met with as the misogyny of the police and may other ways the victims were dismissed by CPS also meant that this went on for years.
I think Eva is really smart, so I'm sometimes confused by her analysis that I find completely lacking in insight and thorough analysis. I find it confusing because it's a dichotomy between what I think is plainly obvious and some of the positions she has been taking lately. And then I think about Ana Kasparian, and I wonder.
Ah yes Nigel Farage the most truthful & veracious man in England
While I normally agree with Ava's analysis, I'm really shocked by how terrible her take on political funding and democracy vouchers is.
If there's one thing the last 5 years of politics should have thought us, its that grassroots canvassing and social media strategy can galvanize a political movement even without the use of old hat strategies like leafleting.
Whats more, by giving everyone a democracy voucher, it would incentivise greater political engagement and awareness amongst the general public, something we desperately need.
33:58 there is a solution to this you say that a party can raise x amount privatly and anything over that amount must come from the token system this still doesnt solve the problem that if you dont have a spare hundred grand to milion pounds you cant form a party but it would be less bad
bad topic for the tories.
Ava doesn't know that the current system gives people no cash either
Still day 89 of asking for a production team microphone.
Friends, could you note next time the comments section on this commons clip you posted? I'm sort of speechless. What happened to attract this sort of response?
th-cam.com/video/1SYp5f7D4k8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=qnRjZ8KkFGKQETKO
The comments on that video are wild and very suspicious - Politics Joe is clearly not a right-wing channel so where have these commenters come from?
Ava completely overlooked the fact that you can't have an independent candidate *with* billionaire funding
Its ironic how much Reform and Tories are pushing about a grooming enquiry when they have both become victims to political grooming from Elon Musk !!
Yeah, that’s not really the same as child sex abuse at all now, is it?
@@tdh1990 And calling for another enquiry after ignoring the recommendations of the last one which was only 2 years is not protection children !!
Does Ava not know how long it takes to get legislation done in the commons.
Political Joe would make great MP’s for the Greens, totally useless.
Farage also says a lot of half truths, which is, or can be, a clever way of telling a lie.
Ava is the only one speaking truth about donations tbh. Libs policy also excludes trade union money - it wouldn’t facilitate change but continued hegemony of the parties
Nigella or Fanny?
Who is Joe?
I agree with Ava, that voucher system sucks

What has Muslim and Islam got to do with grooming? How biased is the colonial mind.
No idea, how do Islam and Muslims view women?
@@alanmckay7040are they a monolith? How do young men view women? Dont they all like andrew tate?
Read the transcripts of the court cases
Consider that the epitome of a good person in Islam is the prophet Muhammad, he is a man all muslims aspire to be like. Consider also that the same Prophet Muhammed executed a man and his children in front of the mans wife, the children's mother. That he then forced her to marry him, raped her and forced her to bear his own children. Consider also that the same prophet Muhammad married a 6 year old, and took her virginity on her 9th birthday.
Can you not see why there would be a link here?
The groomers (child rapists) were Muslims. Are you regarded?
Oblivion opened '98, Air opened '02
Ava: Not sure oblivion was there when I went ...
Also Ava: Air was amazing!
Insane yah
The only reason labour would reject an enqury is political. The previous inquiries done have not been sufficient, no one can claim they have been. Starmer is trying to save labour the embarrasment of uncovering the behaviour of their councils
A 7 year £ 200 m inquiry insufficient? The Tories are even more incompetent than I believed if they can't spend all the time and money and it was a total waste.
By not sufficient do you mean their terms of reference, methodology, compilation or key findings?
@@danmayberry1185 was anyone held accountable from the government, police etc? Surely people should be in jail for negligence. Did that happen? Also, did they do an inquiry of the whole country or just a specific town? Clearly the inquiry didn’t go far enough.

Ava's most impassioned takes are always her worst. This is like jail for people who serve peanuts all over again.
This discussion about roller coasters triggered a long buried memory of the time I unofficially assisted my friend, who was a social worker. With about a billion teenagers with down syndrome, going to a theme park.
On this log flume, a chain snapped. They had to put the handbrake or something. And we had to get off this ride. At an angle. Going down these wet steps.. Petrified of slipping, or just as bad, a poor fella with downs slipping, and crashing into me.
Like a mid-nineties episode of Casualty.
Luckily. We didn't. And in the end, we got given a massive stack of free meal coupons. And I ended up having an interesting conversation with a guy about pinball machines.
😂 Ava, I agree. It sucks.
Reborn's got my vote, but I want a £5 voucher.
She really isn’t very intelligent, how can she not get the point of donation.
I'm not nearly as against the political vouchers idea as Ava is 😅 but one thing to note is that a lot of people don't vote. Would they get round to donating their political voucher?
I think the principle of the idea is good, but some kinks regarding enfranchisement (or lack thereof) would need to be considered.
I agree with Ava. Oli and Ed are stupid people with stupid ideas.
