The SE tuner is made to keep you warranty compliance. Did the 131 SE "package" on my 1300 mile RGS. Ran it for 3k miles before summer hit with 90 degree weather. Bike became unbearable in the summer heat......Put a PowerVision on it to cool the motor down. Picked up power and throttle response while keeping 200-210 miles per tank. Looking back, I should have said screw the warranty and went aftermarket with everything
I hear ya. I ignore the HD warranty. It is my bike and I am happy to have a warranty that covers everything without futzing around. th-cam.com/video/Hqkxag-S1a8/w-d-xo.html
My bike (2020 Softail Standard) had V&H short shots, SE air cleaner and SE tune on it when I bought it from Harley. It was running very lean. So much heat came off the engine at a stop, it was burning my leg through my jeans. I pulled the plugs and they were ash white. WAAAAAAAY lean. Changed to an S&S mini teardrop intake, pulled the baffles out of my exhaust, and used an FP3 tuner. Plugs are now a nice golden brown color - exactly where they should be.
Yeah, that SE Tune probably leaned things out from the OEM tune. With EFI bikes and the newer fuel, it is near impossible to tell lean/rich/etc. by reading the color of the plugs. Problem is the new fuels tend to clean your plugs pretty quick and give you false readings. If you really want to get a good read on your plugs here's what you have to do. Find a long stretch of open road, pull over and put in a new fresh set of plugs. Run the bike hard through the gears, then hit the kill switch and coast to the side of the road. Now pull the plugs (on the side of the road) for reading. If you are not checking the above way, then your golden brown color is indicative or a much too rich AFR. Oh, and are you checking all 4 of them?
I own a Sport Glide 2019 with an M8 107, after I did stage #2 with a SE Torque cam the dealer flash my ECU with my Street Tuner. I ran the bike for about a week, but I did not like the way it performs, I then bought the cable to connect my street tuner to my bike and use the autotune feature, and after I flashed the ECU with the autotune map, WOW what a difference, the bike was running way better.
Amazing that the dealership could not do as good as job as you did. Just think, if you had a tuner that did not have its' hands tied behind its' back, How Much Better It Would Run. www.dkcustomproducts.com/overview-of-efi-optionsxied-piggy-back-flash-tuners-dyno-ov-efi-opt.htm
Perfect video for the DIY like me who is researching what tuner would work best for what I have for bike and mods that I have now and plan for in the future
I have a 2022 Sportster 48 XL1200X. I put on a pair of Rinehart Slip-on mufflers, and the decal pop was pretty frequent. I realize you can have lots of decel-pop, and that does not mean your bike is out of tune; however, I didn’t like as much of it as I was getting. Since I wanted to keep my warranty intact, I purchased the Harley-Davidson Pro Street Tuner. I connected it, did the updates and did just a basic download of the Stage one Tune. The bike runs much smoother, acceleration has improved, and the deceleration pop from the exhaust is all but gone. What I found interesting is my gas mileage actually improved. I get that it came from the factory too lean in the first place. I get that it is still probably too lean. Even though the performance is not what I would have gotten from an after market tuner, there is no doubt that my bike is not as lean as it was, and for some reason I’m getting better fuel economy, and if feels like it has more power. It will be interesting to see what it is like when I add the Arlen Ness Inverted Air Cleaner kit. (The one with the Rinehart label on it, LOL.) My current Air-Fuel Ratio numbers, according to the MAP are RPM up to 1750 (14.5) Up to 4000 (14.4) at 4000 to 4500 (14.2) at 5000 (13.5) at 5500 (13) and at 6000 (12.5)Thank you for this informative video. DK Customs videos are amazing.
That is great to hear that the tune improved things for you. 👍 Since 2007 the Sportys have had that little stumble, or hesitation, at lower speed acceleration. Good to hear it helped with that. Thank you for the report, and glad you are finding the videos interesting/useful. 👍
Great video! SE EPA fine - $15M /$7000 = 2142 bikes. Were H-D only fined for the bikes that were sold in the domestic USA market? That number seems pretty low to me? The other number that was mentioned was $3750/bike. I still have my 2009 SE Race Tuner (SERT) that allows me to perform pretty radical tunes without any specific limitations that I am aware of.
Yep, you have the one they got fined for and no longer make. It is $3750 per tuner, and $3750 for non-compliant SE exhaust. I don't remember what it would have added up to, but the $15M was a negotiated settlement...if they had paid the full amount on both items, it would have been Much more than $15M
@@stevedotworld Yes, the Race Tuner was a fully functional tuner, like the Power Vision. Not as easy to work with at the PV, but fully capable of getting a good tune....that is why the EPA said no to it.
@@DKCustomProducts I’ve gotten pretty good at fine tuning settings to get the results I want. I feel like it’s a lost art nowadays with all the restrictions that have been implemented across the industry.
Love the info ! Mine FLHTK 107 M8 stage 2 , SE air filter SE torque cam VH slip on's, SE pro tuner ..... touring use, live in Australia so no crazy speeds .... very happy the way it runs and plenty of power for me. Followed your instructions on bypassing oily air into throttle body, tank lift, vented dipstick and LH side cover removed.... Q. I am not having any trouble with oil pump, but believe the pre 2020 are not the best... What is your opinion ? Thanks
Good to hear you are happy with your ride, and are liking the parts you got from us. Appreciate your business. 👍 Regarding your question on the oil pump. Yes, it was 2020 when the final version of the oil pump became standard. So those of us with 2017-2019 M8's do Not have a the latest oil pump. Fortunately the vast majority of the 2017-2019 don't experience any problems from the oil pump. I am still running the "old" OEM version in my 2019. Many say it is just a matter of time...I don't believe that, that is not what I have seen. I have seen them with 70K miles and no issue. On the other hand, I have seen stock, or just Stage I's that ran great for 20K or 30K miles, then all of a sudden the oil pump takes a dump and they start sumping. The only thing that is sure is that engines that have been built, and have an aggressive cam, or higher compression, or bumped up displacement, those bikes do have a higher likelihood of the oil pump not being able to handle the scavenging, and end up sumping. Personally, I am thinking of upgrading my oil pump, just to be on the safe side. BUT, I am not too stressed about it. Just got back from 240 miles riding today in 95 F temps. Was not worried one bit about the pump.
@@DKCustomProducts , thankyou so much for your opinion.... I think I will just carry on and monitor everything, as you should .. I'm a Automotive mechanic and listening and checking is my thing... Thanks again for your thoughts.. 🙏
Thanks for another great vid. I have a 21 Sportglide with a stage 2 torque cam, SE Street Pro Tuner. It works well, riding with my mates on CVO’s with a variety of cam types at legal speeds, acceleration etc not much difference in performance. The only thing of any significance is that I use about 10% more petrol if I am riding the bike through the hills and I work the engine. SE produce software so the owner can adjust their tune, be great to see a professional assessment of that software as a follow up video.
Jamie is going to be at our shop with his mobile dyno this coming Friday & Saturday for our Open House. He's a good dyno tuner, and we've spoken about this before, but we will talk about it again and video it this time. Great idea!
Another outstanding video. I recently upgraded my 19 RG with Tab slip ons and a K & N HD1717 air filter. I added a FP4. I'm not Mr. Goodwrench and did it all In my garage. I am happy with the upgrade. Not chasing any numbers at all. I believe my RG runs better and was simple to do. Should I have done anything different? Thanks for your videos. They are simple to follow and super informative...
Glad you like the videos and find them informative!!!! It sounds like you have a good setup started. I bought a new 2019 street glide. I wanted a stage 1 kit and the dealer said I have to use screaming eagle pipes and tuner not to void the warranty. I did so and when the warranty ran out I bought Reinhart pipes but still have the same tuner

So glad we can all stay EPA compliant with our Harley Davidson! I am really glad I have a M8 softail though. Don’t have to worry about it being too lean from day one. I have yet to own a Harley that’s out of warranty, so I have never put a tuner on one yet. I won’t be staying “compliant” when I do though. Hopefully doing a stage 2 come this winter and will no doubt go with the power vision tuner on my FXLRS. Can’t wait

V&H is still adding more features to the FP4, and when they are finished, that is a great idea to do a video. 👍 (If we do one now, it will be out of date within a few months)
Added SE tuner, airbox and S&S slip on pipes to my 2022 Ultra Limited. Runs great, not too loud. My days of loud thunder header, power commander combo are over. Once we reach 60 we realize we're too old for that kind of riding.

@@DKCustomProducts I spoken to HD here in Fla and was told that from model year 2020 UP (I think it was), that they will do a ECM upload to the bike if one was looking for a SE Tuner (Stage 1-4 I think he said). Reason, they can't get any tuners until February 2023=chip shortage, so they say. Of course I asked if one was to purchase an aftermarket Tuner, and they install, would they warranty it=No (for obvious reasons) and he did state that the aftermarket part would have to be the cause of failure. I said adding more fuel and air, but HD would find something etc. Just passing on some new info if one was looking. I'll look on your web site. Thanks,
@@AmberWhiskeyRGS The flash will be just as poor as the SE Tuner. It will still be too lean. The Power Vision and the FP4 are very easy to "install". They literally just plug in and then follow the directions on the screen.
@@DKCustomProducts Agreed. Hi Kevin, your series is great. I have the Race SE tuner to my Fat Bob with 117 cui engine conversion. What software do I need to make adjustments with the tuner? I was only able to download the Pro Street Tuner software/ home page. Can I also work with the Race Tuner there? After entering the serial number of my tuner at HD, I could only download the start page of the Pro Street Tuner as I said. Thanks for your help and all the best from Germany.
The Race Tuner is now illegal in the USA, and I believe they stopped world-wide on it. And, of course, there is no more support for it. You will need to find someone that has the software for it and use it. Sorry there is not better news on that...we can thank the EPA for that.
Boy HD and the EPA have us over a barrel. I am stuck with the orange screaming eagle tuner and HD won't touch it. So if I do anymore upgrades than the stage 1 I did when I purchased the bike. I want to keep using the orange tuner because it's the best one. I have to find someone to dyno with it.
Yes, you have a good tuning module. If you don't want to learn to use it yourself, find a good Indy shop that has a good track record of tuning with that tuner.
I have a 2017 road glide special. I installed a Sharkroad 2-1 full exhaust system, a 465 s&s cam and a high flow air filter. Can i use a screaming eagle pro street tuner on my bike.
The SE tuner will be better than no tune, but it will not tune your bike outside of the EPA compliant fuel ratio so your bike will still be running lean and results in the bikes running hot, having hesitation on acceleration, and generally not running as strong or smooth as they could. Kevin My 2020 Tri Glide has a new Air Intake and new Cam and tuner. When I did this Stage upgrade i thought my Trike would sound wonderful. It didn't. I am/was a bit upset. I had already spent a ton on pipes, Krome Werks. The HD Mechanics told me that that was the best they could do because Trikes do not have great tuners. I ask myself, Really? Anyway i was watching this whole series on hot bikes. My Trike is always over 300 degrees and at times it like riding a boiler. i live in Central Florida and it is mean in the summer, but my Bride and I ride three times a week and I ride everyday! So do you know of a place that can get my trike with the right tuner and sounding like it should amd running a low temp? We have a toy hauler and can be anywhere to get this addressed. It is too hot and it sounds like Honda!
Man, sorry to hear that you are not liking the sound of your bike, AND that it is running too hot. First thing I would do is a leak-down test (NOT a compression test) if it is 10% or more, a lot of heat damage has already occurred, and it may not be worth it to you to put more into it, unless you are going to fix whatever was damaged, and then NOT ride it until the heat issue has been taken care of. I would use a Power Vision Tuner (that is what I used on my '11, my '14 and now my '19. The heat issue can be taken care of with the list in this link- www.dkcustomproducts.com/why-how-to-cool-down-the-twin-cam-engine-part-i-dk-cl-tc-dn-1.htm This guy is a bit rough around the edges, but I would take my bike to him if I needed to, just make sure he does what you want, he can be a bit stubborn at times. th-cam.com/video/einE6doFcRc/w-d-xo.html He is in the Memphis area. If you are talking about the current tuner HD puts out, no, the tuner will still be too lean. It will fit your 22 Road Glide, but it will not give the best performance to your Road Glide. As stated several times in the video, it will only give you an EPA compliant tune, at the expense of NOT giving you the best performance tune.

What about the customers like me that got screwed by Harley Davidson Dealerships who sold me the orange screaming eagle tuner and installed it and dyno the bike the the tune of $1700 only $700 was the pipes. I wasn't told anything about the tuner other than the cost $450 and the other was $300. I went with the best one thinking it was correct thing.
I got a 18 streetglide special run tourqe cam big fat reinhardt with no baffles and external vent tubes on my air cleaner with s.e. tuner... I don't know but my bike hauls ass runs real good
I think Hoodie is wrong about different bikes for CA. From what I have read , all bikes and vehicles are manufactured to CA EPA standards. There will be a decal on every vehicle manufactured that says if it’s CA emission compliant.
CARB (California Air Resources Board) has stricter emission standards than the EPA. Not too long ago Cali bikes were quite a bit different than the other 49 States. They had catalytic converters, among other differences, that 49 State bikes did not have. They are Still different. All you have to do is go to the Harley website and look at pricing on 2022 bikes and you will see that Cali bikes are a different price. Pasted from HD website: "CALIFORNIA EMISSIONS $200" They charge more for Cali bike, but these days all I think the difference is is the Evap cannister...but it could be a different tune also. We are not in Cali, don't intend to go to Cali for any bike purchases, etc. Also, I believe the VIN is still different for Cali bikes, I know it was a few years ago. I may be remembering wrong but if the 8th digit of the VIN is a 1 it's 49 state, if it's a 3 its a California emissions bike.
Is the a difference between the dealer flashing your bike when doing a stage 1 vs using a pro Street tuner? Why would they recommend flashing rather than buying a tuner?
We don't mess with dealer flashes or any HD tuners. They are all epa compliant and less than optimum. The flash will be less expensive because it is literally just a software upload to the ECM, whereas with the tuner, there is the cost of the hardware too.
Will a 2009 Ultra Classic Harley be tuned correctly with the screamin eagle tuner stage 1 with a big sucker intake and Vance & Hines slip ons or should I get the FuelPack 3 tuner?

If you are asking about the same bike mentioned above, a 2005 with no o2 sensors, there is no HD branded tuner that will work with that bike. We also do not sell a tuner that will work with it. I suggest working with Fuelmoto, they have tuning solutions for your bike.
Then with the hd tuner, if my 114 stage 2 is entered as a 117 that would probably enrichment enough to compensate ! A dealer in Virginia said they were having success getting closer to correct afr but creative data entry???
I have heard that theory before...might could kludge something together that way...I don't believe I would try it. Service manager stated no tune was necessary and the bike runs fine. I'm guessing the CFM numbers between the two air cleaners are similar. Can I get away with adding some basic slip-ons without getting it tuned or am I venturing into a problem zone already?

I have a 18 FXLR with Rinhart slip-ons and S&S Stealth air cleaner stage 1 with SE pro street tuner when I bought bike in 18. I am going to stage 2 with SE torque cam. I asked dealer if I ran a S&S 475 cam if the SE tuner would tune it accurately and give me some wiggle room if I went to a Powervision tuner down the road. The response was dealer could not guarantee the tune with S&S 475 cam and with Powervision any difference would be negligible. What are your thoughts on this? Also in this video you say any aftermarket parts as in slip ons , air cleaner may not or will not tune properly with SE tuner but you say with SE tuner you can choose stage 1-2 , heavy breather or extreme ventilator, and if you have slip ons. Should I be concerned with my afermarket mufflers and air cleaner in getting a proper tune with the SE tuner with the addition of SE torque cam? Are my afermarket parts close to OEM or SE that the tune will be good and not out as in lean? Thank you
The nice thing about M8's is that they are not too lean from the factory. You can add free flowing exhaust and air cleaner and they are still not too lean with the OEM tune. See video here- th-cam.com/video/Lb_57Z_Ipms/w-d-xo.html The minute you go to a Stage II or higher, you will need a tune. The SE Tuner is only calibrated for HD parts. So going with a non-HD cam will not work well with the SE tuner. The difference between the Power Vision and the SE Tuner is significant, regardless of parts...stage I, II, IV or V, or even stock. So how is my bike going to get tuned? SE doesn't make a tuner for my Sportster S and if I use aftermarket I lose my warranty. I have a TBR exhaust on it and the SE air cleaner so I need a tune to complete the stage one. Now what?
Ca bike here. I have the torque cam installed and the SE tuner. Does that SE tuner make it impossible to set up differently and go with another brand tuner? Locking out others so to say?
No it does not lock other tuners out. Everyday folks realize the limitations of their SE Tuner and get a Power Vision or FP4. Link to more info- www.dkcustomproducts.com/efi-tuners-c74.htm

I asked if retuning would help but the weren't sure. by the time i get the bike to them the code is no longer active so they shrug their shoulders, I clear it and ride some more
@@daleirish6682 Hi Dale, thanks for the good words, appreciate it. First, the P0154 code is indicative of either a faulty o2 sensor, or a broken wire, or even a bad connection coming off the o2 sensor...check the connection AT the sensor and at the far end. Yea, SE Stage I's are almost always a disappointment. Once you get the P0154 taken care of you can make a significant improvement in your set up for very little. As someone who isn't in CA, I'm happy that CA has announced they will no longer allow the sale of gasoline vehicles in 2035. Sucks if you are in CA, but that means the rest of the country doesn't have to kiss CA's ass for CARB compliance, which a lot of manufacturers do so as to not have a ton of varieties. I bought a used 2019 Trike and put on TAB 4.5 w/Zombies and a Screaming Eagle High-Flow Wedge air cleaner and the SE Tuner. As soon as the warranty expires, I'm going put in a Woods WM8-22XE and a Power Vision and make that baby scream.

Or you could get a refund on your ESP from Harley and get a real Warranty. Here is what we do to deal with the ridiculous HD Warranty- th-cam.com/video/p8U4XsHyBug/w-d-xo.html
Some SE products will void parts of the warranty, no matter who installs them. However, if you use EPA approved SE parts and install them correctly yourself, it will NOT void the factory warranty. I would recommend getting a real warranty (you can see video on that here- th-cam.com/video/Hqkxag-S1a8/w-d-xo.html ) That way you can do what you want to your bike, and everything is covered. It is Not worth the money to me, or anyone I know. It is not going to give any bike, TC, Sporty, or M8 an optimum tune. Here are a couple of videos on the subject- th-cam.com/video/7sn7CrmSDL4/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/0vbTkRvFa80/w-d-xo.html
So if you have a Bassani road rage 2 into 1 a screaming eagle can not achieve proper fuel to air mixture and give you problem. Can you fool the screaming eagle tuner by placing it into a Stage 2 when you only have a stage 1? Or s select 114 when you only have a 107?
That is a good thought, and we have tried it...but right away we realized why it won't work. Cam timing is different, which requires changes in the timing. Those changes in the timing for a Stage II won't work with the stock cam. Same thing with the differences between the 107 and 114. Best solution is to get a real warranty (see link to video below) and then a real tuner, like the Power Vision or FP4, then you have a good tune and a warranty that covers everything. If you have a 2021 and newer HD, dont get a screamin Eagle tuner. I like in Florida, and my Road king was built in Cali with and Cali ECM, and I was unable to tune it. You will have to go with an aftermarket brand.
When the Stage II was installed, it should have been tuned at that time. If it is running too rich, you should be able to use the same tuner that was used when the Stage II was installed to get your tune leaned out a bit.

We don't know what you mean by an illegal tuner, what year bike you have, with what engine mods, and what are you trying to accomplish. Is the bike running poorly, and you want a better tune? Or ??? KP
@DKCustomProducts I took the bike to HD for a tune after a few mods and handed them the tuner that came with the bike it wasn't epa compliant 2010 road glide so they just did a dynotune, I'm getting a bit of stumble off idle to 1500 rpm the cam installed is a 583c chain drive
@DKCustomProducts if I recall screamin eagle street probably about 10 years or older but something has been done to the bike se compensator wasn't standard
So Harley also lost a lawsuit from the feds over warranty voiding because of using third party shops aftermarket cams and tuners because third parties can't make tunes to Harley because of Harleys process. Truthfully my bike was so modified that the race tuner was the only way to tune my road glide but when it got flashed, they were unable to tune my bike till we put a power vision. Now my dealership will sell a screaming eagle pro street if you want it but they try to talk people into using aftermarket tuners. Now I have an Indian Challenger which Polaris is ok with my removing the catalytic converter and using Lloyds tuning which got red of throttle lag made the bike get better fuel mileage and defeated the 110 MPH speed governor.
Instead of buying a tractor, why not just buy a sport bike or a Honda goldwing if you want to go fast. It seems everyone that I know of that had up graded the engine performance on a Harley ended up with a dependability problems. Harleys have enough issues without playing around with them. I am not a Harley hater I love the look of them and their sound, can't get that with a Goldwing.
Thank you for the comment. 👍 I think the reason most people (I know it is true for me) want more power out of their Harley, is to feel that brute force acceleration...not to necessarily go fast, but to get up to cruising (whether it is 55 mph or 75 mph) quickly. Yes, I know a Goldwing, and many other bikes, do that better...but they do not feel the same. Many think they want more HP, but in fact, the feeling that they want is more torque...and that is where Harley's shine. Yes, many folks do Stage II, III & IV's chasing this, but they are building on a faulty foundation, and that is where you see the dependability issues. At DK Custom we focus on doing Great Stage I's, that enhance dependability and increase power a significant amount. Enough that many stop chasing more via a II, III, or IV. But if they want more, they now have a good foundation to build on. Here is a video on that subject- th-cam.com/video/GK5x3lcQvJU/w-d-xo.html

You have 12.9 to 14.2 on M8 107 but a dyno Harley dealership gives you a 14.5-14.7 nothing more or less What’s a can program for a 131 that’s epa Harley complaint?
If, for some reason, you want to be epa compliant, the SE Pro Street tuner will work with the 131. Hoodie specifically talks about that in this video. The guys I know with 131's do not care about EPA compliance, they care about performance, and they are using the Power Vision. Here's a video on the subject- th-cam.com/video/-gkPPVUS124/w-d-xo.html
As Hoodie explained in this video, there is a Screamin' Eagle Pro Street Tuner. There is no other HD branded tuner available. There is also a Screamin' Eagle Smart Tune PRO Automatic Tuning Module that works in conjunction with the Pro Street Tuner. I was just at the HD website and HD Corporate is 14 weeks backordered on the Pro Street Tuner and 6 weeks backordered on the Smart Tune PRO module. That is as of 8-26-22. Of course, there may be Dealerships that have inventory of 1 or both of them. At the time the video was shot, that particular tuner had just recently been released...and he does share quite a bit of useful information. The reason he had not dug deeper into it is because it is not a good tuner, not a tuner he used on his own bike, and not a tuner he would recommend for anyone to use on their bike that was looking for performance. He walked a pretty fine line between outright saying it was not a tuner worth buying and keeping his job. KP
Melissa did not realize you were being sarcastic in your original comment and was trying to be encouraging to you.
@01Lightning sound like the problem I'm having living in Florida you can't run a lean air cool motor

(The one with the Rinehart label on it, LOL.)
My current Air-Fuel Ratio numbers, according to the MAP are RPM up to 1750 (14.5) Up to 4000 (14.4) at 4000 to 4500 (14.2) at 5000 (13.5) at 5500 (13) and at 6000 (12.5)Thank you for this informative video. DK Customs videos are amazing.
That is great to hear that the tune improved things for you. 👍
Since 2007 the Sportys have had that little stumble, or hesitation, at lower speed acceleration.

Q. I am not having any trouble with oil pump, but believe the pre 2020 are not the best...
What is your opinion ?
Thanks
Good to hear you are happy with your ride, and are liking the parts you got from us. Appreciate your business. 👍
Regarding your question on the oil pump.

I talked to Jim Palmer about a ESP (since you mentioned it above) and since I have a HD ESP built into/added to the loan, I was unaware that I could get out of that and use Jim's ESP. Jim said he can work all that out. Sounds like the way to go and I never knew that.
Thanks again for the video and I'm gonna tell my friends to watch this video, and get with Jim to switch over.
Really appreciate it, longer terms and better coverage than HD.
Another extremely enjoyable and informative interview.
Thank you for the comment, glad you liked it. 👍
I would certainly go with the Power Vision Tuner so that you can have your bike running as good as it can with a great tune.

My 2020 Tri Glide has a new Air Intake and new Cam and tuner.
The heat issue can be taken care of with the list in this link-

If you're running straight pipes and put a high flow air cleaner on, will the screaming eagle pro tuner work on it! 2016 trike.
If you are talking about the current tuner HD puts out, no, the tuner will still be too lean. If you are asking about the Race Tuner, that is now illegal for HD to sell, that will work to give you a good tune.

So would the screamin eagle tuner be good for a 2022 Roadglide?
It will fit your 22 Road Glide, but it will not give the best performance to your Road Glide. As stated several times in the video, it will only give you an EPA compliant tune, at the expense of NOT giving you the best performance tune.
@@DKCustomProducts Yeah that’s what im afraid of. Its still under warranty.

Pasted from HD website:
"CALIFORNIA EMISSIONS $200"
They charge more for Cali bike, but these days all I think the difference is is the Evap cannister...but it could be a different tune also.

Can you change or fool your ecu or tune box with different injectors?
If you are asking about the same bike mentioned above, a 2005 with no o2 sensors, there is no HD branded tuner that will work with that bike. We also do not sell a tuner that will work with it. I suggest working with Fuelmoto, they have tuning solutions for your bike.
Then with the hd tuner, if my 114 stage 2 is entered as a 117 that would probably enrichment enough to compensate ! A dealer in Virginia said they were having success getting closer to correct afr but creative data entry???
I have heard that theory before...might could kludge something together that way...I don't believe I would try it. I would just get a real warranty, and then do the tune correctly with a Power Vision. I picked up a 2010 Road King Classic. It's running an Arlen Ness Big Sucker air cleaner and a Patriot 2-into-1 side pipe exhaust and is terribly out of tune. It runs but I'm getting serious missing and some really loud pops when letting off the throttle and downshifting. Will this unit help me tune that bike?
See video here- th-cam.com/video/Lb_57Z_Ipms/w-d-xo.html
The minute you go to a Stage II or higher, you will need a tune. The SE Tuner is only calibrated for HD parts. So going with a non-HD cam will not work well with the SE tuner.
The difference between the Power Vision and the SE Tuner is significant, regardless of parts...stage I, II, IV or V, or even stock.

Smart Tune Pro 🤷🤷
It's talked about in the video.
"There are Things That are Good for the Motorcycle, and Things Good for Legislation, and I think that Harley, as a Corporate Entity has to Error on the Side of Caution when it comes (down) to it, and they error on the side of caution and do what's best for Legislation." -Hoodie
This applies to the Smart Tune PRO tuning module...it is EPA compliant, which is good for legislation, not so great for the engine.

Power Vision or FP4- www.dkcustomproducts.com/efi-tuners-c74-262.htm
so what you are saying, if you are a consumer and aren't concerned about being EPA compliant, go with an aftermarket tuner?
What is being said is:
1. An EPA tune is not ideal for performance, heat or engine longevity
2. A SE Tuner will not give a better tune than the EPA tune
3. No State currently test emissions on motorcycles (EPA tune is not enforced on motorcycles)
4. For a tune that is best for performance and for the engine, a Power Vision tune can give you that

@@DKCustomProducts as always thank you for the quick reply and info on the tuner. I have a 2017 Ultra limited with a stage 1. SE air cleaner and tuner, and CFR slip on's. I recently moved from NY to New Mexico and I asked my local dealer if I should have the bike tuned again to compensate for the altitude change. since most of my riding is in the mountains 7500-12000 above sea level and i keep getting a P0154 code popping up. the dealer can't make head nor tails of the diag. They though about a possible alterative O2 sensor for it but i haven't heard anything back from them in months about what they have found.
Get an External Breather System on that SE Air Cleaner...your bike will last longer and have more power. Here is a link to some info on and EBS.

Time will tell what happens. I would not hang my hat on anything any politician says.
If you purchase all SE products to do a stage 1 and do the labor yourself, is the HD factory still valid even though HD didnt do the install...
Some SE products will void parts of the warranty, no matter who installs them.
However, if you use EPA approved SE parts and install them correctly yourself, it will NOT void the factory warranty.
I would recommend getting a real warranty (you can see video on that here- th-cam.com/video/Hqkxag-S1a8/w-d-xo.html )

When the Stage II was installed, it should have been tuned at that time. If it is running too rich, you should be able to use the same tuner that was used when the Stage II was installed to get your tune leaned out a bit.
@@DKCustomProducts I purchased the bike with the mods already done. It was recommended to have the bike dynoed to know exactly what mods were done. Thanks for the reply 👍
@@DKCustomProducts...I seen the tuner advertised and thought it would save me a trip to have bike dynoed. No reputable dyno shop near me.
@@ronaldduchac7396 Running your bike on the dyno will not let you know what mods were done. They dyno will only show you the tune and the Torque & HP. To know what mods have been done, one has to look at the hard parts.

Do other tuners like vance and hines fp4 work like screaming when it come to making sure bikes stay emission compliant?
I think the FP4 either has, or one is in the works, that is EPA compliant that they will (or are already) making available to those in California.
No. Those “in the works” will take a long time to hit the street due to certification processes through CARB and EPA. The SEPST is it for the forseeable future.
@@RoadieWingZZ Time will tell. California has some serious issues with wanting to get rid of all ICE vehicles.
I just had a local Harley Davidson dealer installed a stage two kit on my 2015 road glide 103 they called me and said the screaming eagle tuner is not tuning the bike that it doesn’t work for the 103 does anyone know why?
Is it a Screamin' Eagle Stage II, or is it using some other cam?
If it is a SE Stage II, I cannot think of a reason why the SE tuner will not work...although, it will still be a bit lean, as pointed out in the video.

@@DKCustomProducts Thank you for your help much appreciated
With my road glide it came with a illegal tuner why can't they just reprogram the tuner probably cheaper
What kind of tuner do you have? MB
@DKCustomProducts if I recall screamin eagle street probably about 10 years or older but something has been done to the bike se compensator wasn't standard
Was your bike running well before the Harley tune? MB
Thanks for the comment.
Dynojet is the only way i go. I would run thunder max if I was rich
I have the Power Vision on all my EFI bikes.
I think the reason most people (I know it is true for me) want more power out of their Harley, is to feel that brute force acceleration...not to necessarily go fast, but to get up to cruising (whether it is 55 mph or 75 mph) quickly.

Yep. HD is in business to make $ for their shareholders, not to pay fines to the EPA for breaking their silly regs.
Bottom line, buy a powervision unit. Better then any harley has to offer.
Agreed! 👍
www.dkcustomproducts.com/dynojet-power-vision-flash-tuner-w-auto-tune-dk-pv-cmp-pkg.htm
Bottom line you not going to make much power with these new tuners. In fact they might hurt the bike running to lean.
True that.
Harley TEC bragged HD bikes come too lean then leaned my bike out so much that I had off the chart lean and rev limiter set at 1500 I don’t ever trust HD to work on my bike
And that is why we made this video- th-cam.com/video/isBHK-Jy7Wk/w-d-xo.html
Been there done that that tuner is worse garbage anyone can buy.
It is not going to fix the too lean condition on a Sporty or Twin Cam, and the M8 is not too lean.
I love DK, but this Hoodie guy always gives the sit on the fence political responses to DK’s questions. I never feel he is never 100% honest with his responses. Kinda feels shady. It’s like he knows a lot, but may have dropped out of machanic school before he took the last test for the diploma. Just how I feel when I hear him speak. I love DK and their products!!!
Thank you! Glad to hear you are liking DK and our parts!👍
Hoodie walks a fine line. As he says in the video...HD has to error on the side of the EPA.
Harley is going to be ruined by the Govt. Swamp.
The negative impact on HD has been going on for awhile...but it does seem to be accelerating.
On top of that that is garbage once u get the tuner than you got it buy another smart tuner to suppose mke the tuner better, what a joke , buy the tuner than buy a smart tuner too to make the tuner that you just bought better, Harley-Davidson are theft Corp
I much prefer the Power Vision, or even the FP4 of XiED products.
Meanwhile, China is building more coal powered power plants. 🤷🏼♂️🤣🤪
Crazy times!
China built 12 plants in 2022, and building 22 plants for 2023?????? Oh yes , their way ahead of us !!!!
Crap
EPA control.
@@DKCustomProducts is the auto tune worth the money thanks I have a 2020 rk special stage 2
@@stevenpierce4359 I am running the Power Vision on both of my EFI bikes. It comes with the autotune. For me it is worth it. The PV will give a much better tune and I like the gauges that I can monitor while riding. Another, less expensive, option is the FP4. See them both here- www.dkcustomproducts.com/efi-tuners-c74-262.htm
Harley tuners are useless..
I wouldn't say they are useless, but they do not help you get your bike to running much richer than they come stock. They only tune within the EPA standards.
Thanks for commenting! MB
You have 12.9 to 14.2 on M8 107 but a dyno Harley dealership gives you a 14.5-14.7 nothing more or less
What’s a can program for a 131 that’s epa Harley complaint?
If, for some reason, you want to be epa compliant, the SE Pro Street tuner will work with the 131. Hoodie specifically talks about that in this video.
The guys I know with 131's do not care about EPA compliance, they care about performance, and they are using the Power Vision.
Here's a video on the subject- th-cam.com/video/-gkPPVUS124/w-d-xo.html
What’s the Screamin Eagle pro smart tuner?
As Hoodie explained in this video, there is a Screamin' Eagle Pro Street Tuner. There is no other HD branded tuner available. There is also a Screamin' Eagle Smart Tune PRO Automatic Tuning Module that works in conjunction with the Pro Street Tuner.
I was just at the HD website and HD Corporate is 14 weeks backordered on the Pro Street Tuner and 6 weeks backordered on the Smart Tune PRO module.
That is as of 8-26-22.
Of course, there may be Dealerships that have inventory of 1 or both of them.
Here are the links to both of them-

Made a video to explain SE Tuner, yet hasn't dug into them. lol. What a joke

@@DKCustomProducts Apparently there is nothing to like. By your video it’s not gonna do anything for my bike💀
Melissa did not realize you were being sarcastic in your original comment and was trying to be encouraging to you.
You are correct, as shown in the video, they SE Tuner will not do much at all to help you with your Sporty.
An inexpensive route to go is with the XL-ViED. They work very well at getting the AFR into a proper range on Sportys.
