Silly random question - would it be possible to mount that perspex the other way round, so that the cracked bit is on the opposite side to the LED strip? You might see less shadowing that way.
It has been done I have seen it, not perfect mind you but it wasn’t cracked like Allen’s one, there is white tape at the top which needs toe be put on the burnt and sanded down side it ok but the picture gets slightly darker at the top

May I ask you a question, I replaced the edge LEDs to a Sony KDL-40R453C and have found that the first 4-5” from the right hand side of the screen is now brighter than the rest of the screen. I am not sure why the first few inches from the LED edge lit is brighter. Any ideas please?
I have a question we know this is a 43Inch Screen can you use that screen in any other Brand say if you have a Bad screen laying around that needs a 43 inch screen? Almost you can use the parts i would think like the Metal case 11:47 on other Brands is this possible!!!

Hi Allen, good news stripped down only one led not lit would this drag down the whole strip no damage anywhere ie burning. So one strip lit brightly other strip all dim with one not lit. Sent for 2 new strips hopefully that will fix the problem, many thanks.
405 lines so there are people that can remember black and white with VHF tuners. Then along came 635 lines UHF and the nightmare of ghosting due to reflections back to the aerial, happy days. Re Samsung TV's the backlights seem to be a common issue, i have a 32" that is starting to go down the LH side, when it becomes unwatchable it can go to recycling.
I may have a go, the set is about 5 years old with only light use. Samsung TV's are like the batteries in their phones they don't last long once the warranty expires.@@allenfleckney5969
Heya, well the backlight is replaced so that is fickst and the rip in the folie is not your fault so..... yes you can see a little screen discolouration but it's not that bad, I think

Sadly not. The light can only travel one way “ bottom to up “ there is a special prism coating on the bottom.

No that would not work. The prism sheets for backlit and edgelit are completely different.

The sets are not made to be repaired if you have to repair it for a consumer.
Is the sheet keyed? Can it be set up side down with the burned side on the other side?
It has to stay in that position

It’s not just the lights you will need the prism board. They are not worth repairing as this videos proves.

I'd have it if nobody wants it swap you for a 43 inch JVC smart tv that has blue LED's
Typical poor panel design by AUO. Even modern PC gaming monitors are mostly made by AUO or InnoLux. LG are best panels in terms of QC.
