I would rather have that than a new husky 901 any day. Huskies come and go. Your XR 650 R is unique and a tower of motorcycle history. 300 pounds and 60 hp, no wonder it one Baja every year it was made. I hope mine runs as good as your someday but doing a full restore like that well I don’t think I could. You are masterful and conscientious about the greatest detail. Your bike is at work of art now, so beautiful. Thank you for the videos. Now I am going to start over again with the first one.
Thank you for your comment really appreciate it.i often think i can’t explain well when working on the bike so im glad the vids are helpful.i had days when it got overwhelming with ordering part etc and working full time .what i found was list all parts needed in one go then do a few hours every week and it soon comes together. It took 14months ,but in actual time spent on prob 1month. 👍👍
Wow!! I can't believe I missed this until now. So happy to see it come out so nice. That's truly better than new and looks it too. Fantastic job on it!
Hi 👋 so glad you seen the outcome . The tank worked really well much better than mine and the decals covered the worse parts perfectly . Since i finished i been crazy busy had not time to ride it only 30 miles and it dose feel like new thought a bit to focused and race ready 😬 but im ok with that as it will only be used for fun . It even lifts the front in 4th my original 650 or my 600 wont do that . Hope you found spark ⚡️ on yours will catch up soon . Already started new project 😃 and 90% of parts ordred for it (xr400r) . New vids coming soon 👍👍👍
@@OldDirtBikes That sounds a bit stronger than mine, and mine's strong enough! lol. I didn't find any issue in the stator, and switched to the coil it came to me with, and I'm getting a spark tho not strong enough to get excited about. But I can't test it for sure until I get the new rocker arms in which didn't come with the valve adjusters - my fault should have looked and assumed not... so waiting for the parts man once again! Excited to see this XR400R build!
You be needing the eu/UK rear mudguard support to stop rear mud guard wobbling and vibrating . The air box door side panel always pops out from.being flush with mud guard and with it being uncorked from memory my air screw is 3 to 3 and half turns out as mine is uncorked full race exhaust bigger jets and the hrc carb needle . Better to run them a little rich as they run cooler....👍 good job , don't use that E10 fuel in it either !! now get out and ride it flat out as that's what they was built for 👌😂
Hi buzz you been watching since the beginning thanks😀 also you helped with my carb before 👍. Yes im looking for the mud guard support will be better with it . Ah my mix screw only out 2 turns will sort it . Only the high octane e5 in it wish there was no ethonol like the old school 4star .
@@OldDirtBikes yes , I helped you with carb and chatted when you joined the FB page on setting it up lol .. Get some sea foam petrol stabilizer it will help keep the carb from not getting dirty and stop it going green on the inside if you don't ride the bike for a while as with the ethanol in the fuel it can turn the inside of the carb green when left for a couple months . I use it regular in all my bikes or if I leave them for a long time , when you going to be joining us riding the tet trails in South and mid Wales on the beast ?? We all ride 600cc + enduro bikes on the trails and some of the byways and green lanes in Wales, I'm from Rhondda valley ... 👍
@@Rust_valley_adventures i got something similar it motrax fuel stableiser . My riding days are more or less over due to injury i can only ride off road slowly for a hour then im done for 🙁thats why i spend most of my free time in workshop . My bikes bit of a waste as i cant ride them to their potential but i cant be without bikes 😀. Thanks for the offer thought 👍👍
looking good man. I started my 650R up for first time in years the other day (vid on my channel!) and I wanna do a full tear down and rebuild like yours. Can't wait to get started!
Hi glad it helped 😀. Had to take a step back from making vids at the moment work commitments. May make some new vids later in the year thanks for watching 👍
Hi thank you . Really happy how this one turned out , was initially so happy with these BUT after only a month they bubbled and rippled badly ☹️. Fitted them best i could with all the tips and knowledge I’ve learned. Going to leave them on anyway . Had them from “a1motosport “ on ebay from usa 🇺🇸 . 👍👍👍
That looks brilliant, well worth the money and time. I'd really like to get a hold of a headlight/shroud like yours. Could you tell me where you got yours?
Hi thanks man , actually i had my suspicions. Last week when i rode it to mot station anything over 50mph the whole bike was vibing bad like unrideble . I was running 20psi . As everything new i tryed putting psi at what the side wall says 38psi thats way harder than i like but it was smooth then riding back . Will do some research and keep a close eye on them 👍👍
@@OldDirtBikes the tyres are cracking . I've ran them on my tt600r for couple years and no issues . I put the post on the xr650r riders world page on FB . Might only affect usa but better to read and check if it affects eu/UK stock
Haha yes your right 😀. Pluse if i had bought a new bike I would have had no workshop time and i do like fixing them as much as riding. Thanks for always watchin 👍👍
